This hub did not work properly
This review is from: UtechSmart USB 3.0 4-Port Hub, Backward Compatible with USB 2.0 - Silver
Pros: May work on a machine using a different USB controller.
Cons: Definitely did not work properly on my PC which uses a Renesas USB Controller.
Other Thoughts: This 4-port hub did not work properly. When inserted into my 64-bit Win-7 system it registered as a USB 2.0 hub (my system uses the Renesas 22.214.171.124 driver). UtechSmart's FAQ knows of the problem and erroneously reported it is due to the USB port not having sufficient power. As a result, I purchased a PCIe USB 3.0 card that uses power from my system's power supply (this card uses the Renesas 126.96.36.199 driver). This should have solved the issue if UtechSmart's FAQ was correct. Unfortunately, I had exactly the same problem with the UtechSmart hub. I have now moved this hub to my "junk parts" box. It was a time-consuming and expensive ordeal trying to get this hub working properly.
