Overview

UtechSmart USB 3.0 4-Port Hub adds 4 more USB ports to your computer to connect 4 USB devices. This allows you to connect and use USB devices such as digital cameras, external hard drives, flash drives, and printers, all from a single hub. Powered by USB 3.0, this hub provides quick data rates of up to 5.0Gbps. The UtechSmart USB 3.0 4-Port Hub features a sleek design to fit on your desk without taking up precious desktop space.

Feature

SuperSpeed USB 3.0 supports transfer rates up to 5 Gbps - The actual transmission speed is limited by the setting of the device connected.
Compatible with all Windows and Linux systems. Mac systems require latest Apple updates.
Plug and play. Supports hot swapping. Backwards compatible with all USB 2.0/1.1 devices and hosts.
Bus Powered - does not require an AC adapter - compatible with Microsoft Surface, Ultrabooks and MacBook Air.
The connection cable is attached to the hub -no need to worry about leaving it behind or losing it.

Performance

Providing data rates of up to 5Gbps - 10 times faster than USB 2.0. You can transfer your photos, music, and HD movies to a USB 3.0 external storage device faster than ever before.

Power

The portable hub is bus powered and it does not require the connection of an external power adapter. It is powered by the current supplied by the USB port. For a stable connection, the devices connected to the 4-Port Hub must not exceed a combined current of 5 volts 900mAh. External hard-drives should be connected to an external power source.

Compatibility

Compatible with Windows 8/7/Vista/XP/2003/2000/ME, Mac OS X (latest updates from Apple required), and Linux kernels 3.0 and later. Full forward and backward compatibility between USB 3.0 and 2.0/1.1 hosts and devices.

Attention

* 2.4Ghz wireless devices, such as wireless keyboard and mouse adapters, may not work in close proximity to USB 3.0 devices or hubs. Connecting to a USB 2.0 port is recommended.
* Apple now provides an official update for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro computers purchased in June 2012. This update improves USB 3.0 performance and compatibility and can be downloaded from the official Apple website .
* This hub is not designed to serve as a standalone charger and will not charge an iPad tablet or any other device with non-standard charge requirements.

Also it feel very cheapy. It does what it does tho' I wanted this to extend the 1 usb 3.0 port i have on my laptop but it's more of a desk usb hub, it's really not as portable as I thought it would be. This review is from: UtechSmart USB 3.0 4-Port Hub, Backward Compatible with USB 2.0 - Black Pros: I thought this was the cutest thing for my laptop AsusFlip which only has (1) 3.0 usb, but when i got it i was disappointed at the size. Almost the size of my remote. I wanted something small to keep on the side of my flip those days I decide to use it as a laptop. This is just way too big for that purpose. It feels cheap as well. Cons: too big for purpose i had in mind, feels cheapy. Other Thoughts: Not sure if the size was on the sale page, but if it was i didn't notice. I guess the price is what got me. I can always use it on my desktop and leave it there. Not portable. I do have way smaller usb hubs so i know they exist. This was way bulky for my taste. Did you find this review helpful? Cons: I plugged this USB hub into 2 different PC's. While connected to my Asus Gryphon Z97, it prevented the PC from booting. While connected to my Asus P8-Z77I motherboard, it would connect and disconnect itself nonstop. Nothing seemed physically broken about the unit I received. Cons: Stopped working as a recognized device after a couple of weeks, but ports still function usb2+ speeds when usb3 drive plugged in...Identifies as Generic SuperSpeed hub with an exclamation point over it. No user flashable fw so what to do...bought 2 kept one sold one...cust sez didn't like cuz of id pblm and replaced with powered usb3 hub no problem. Cons: None Other Thoughts: I own this and the UtechSmart 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub with VIA Vl812 Chipset and 5V/4A Power Adapter [2013 Updated Version]. If you have USB 3.0 devices that have their own power supply, then this will work great. If not, then you want to get the 7-Port Hub I mentioned to work with devices like USB 3.0 flash drives. Remember, this USB 3.0 Hub doesn't have its own power supply, so don't expect it to work with power hungry USB 3.0 devices that don't have one, either. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
