5 out of 5 eggsLove it

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: Price, battery life, non-photography extras, solid viewfinder. Decent ergonomics. Light sensor is alright.

Cons: Weight.

Other Thoughts: Very nice. I upgraded from an old ti rebel that was like 6 years old or so and I really appreciated the new features in this one. The pentaprism viewfinder is a lot brighter than the pentamirror based rebel (probably the biggest reason I upgraded). Although if you use auto focus that doesn't matter. Someone was saying the autofocus sucks and can't be controlled but there is a button that looks like a cross right on the top right shoulder of the camera where you can select the autofocus location. Who uses autofocus anyway?

Onboard flash blows but it says that right in the owners manual. Perhaps I am being naive but I hope anyone that buys this camera knows that if you're going to be using the flash often you need to upgrade.

Uhhhh battery life is like way better than I thought it was going to be. I don't use autofocus so that probably helps, but even with an IS lens and a 5 hour hike through the mountains my battery still says full.

Megapixel count is fine. I mean, the difference between a 12mp and this 18mp isn't really a big deal. I had a 12mp picture blown up to a ~2ft by 2ft print and it looked fine so....

That's about it.

Basically why you should buy this camera over a Nikon is because Canon takes out a full page ad in National Geographic and writes about an endangered species for advertisement and Nikon has Ashton Kutcher..... Both cameras will probably do you well although I have only owned Canon.

5 out of 5 eggsNice upgrade from EOS Rebel XS

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: Relatively lightweight for its size
Packed with features
More professional than anything in the Rebel line
18 Megapixels!
Articulating LCD monitor (not fixed)
Interchangeable focusing screens

Cons: Still not a full-sized APS-sized image sensor, but an APS-C
No lenses included
Same type of strap as the Rebel line (although with the 60D name embroidered,) but no upgrade in the strap itself
Plastic body, not metal

Other Thoughts: Not the best Canon makes, but also not $7K and a darn good camera.
No eggs deducted for any of the Cons, as all are readily displayed in the product descriptions, no surprises here.
If you need a much better camera, you should buy one, but be prepared to spend a LOT more to get anything significantly better than this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat camera

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: Larger than rebels, heavier, great ergonomics even for my big hands. FPS, button layout, 9 cross type af points, top info screen. All those complaining this is an upgraded rebel, it is not even close. It sure isn't a 7D, but for the price its close enough.

Cons: None that I've come across yet.

Other Thoughts: Lack of MA, or a 1 fps decrease from the 50d may be a con to some, not for me so I didn't list it as such. This camera is as close to a rebel as all the previous xxD bodies.
Also although the vari-angle lcd is nice for some situations, I would've rather not had it, but that's just me.

5 out of 5 eggs@Treeelee

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: I've reviewed the 60D w/kit 18-135mm lens, so refer to that.

Cons: Again, see my other review.

Other Thoughts: Treeelee, I bought the 60D and laugh in your general direction....but in all seriousness, the 7D is quite a bit superior. Megapixels and type of processor are not everything. By that logic, I should be peeved because the T2i is the "same thing" as the 60D.

The 7D has a mag. alloy shell, 10 MORE autofocus points, another processor altogether, faster burst rates, larger more comfortable body, etc etc. I own the 60D and in many ways am envious of the 7D (which I've played with as well). I just couldn't justify the extra cost. The 60D outperforms me anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsCanon 60D - Amazing Camera

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: The camera is constructed well. Very fast focusing, mind you should also have fast focusing lens. The pictures using a canon 50mm f/1.8 & f/1.4 give brilliant pictures. I have also used the kit lens from a Canon T2i (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) and it also performed well.

The continuous burst mode is amazing, definitely not like the 7D or higher priced canons... but still amazing how fast it is.

The vari-angle lcd comes in handy, however I find the top lcd panel to be very very useful on the fly.

Cons: The price is odd and mismatched in comparison to the T2i (550D) and the 7D. It is a bit high without a kit lens. But I found myself not needing the kit lens, as many will- who will either want/have better lens.

The mode dial with its locking system is a bit of a pain at times. Some will find it useful while others will not. It is a personal preference.

Other Thoughts: I repeat the build quality is sturdy. Feels comfortable in my wide hands.

Some will find the control dials a bit frustrating. Its a bit of a pain having the dials around another. The delete button was placed in a odd place as most canon owners are used to using one hand for common operations. The delete button should have been placed somewhere on the right side rather near the mode dial.

If you are thinking about the T2i, but have a little extra money and are able to afford the 60D and not the 7D, I personally would suggest getting the 60D. You will be much happier and not feel it lacking.

I have used the T2i, 60D and the 7D. I love all 3, however price and features wise it all made sense to get the 60D and not feel like I have made a mistake.

1 out of 5 eggsit is nor worth

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: same battery pack 7D has.

Cons: Do not have sense to upgrade from rebel -it is just if you want new camera from some reason

Other Thoughts: A lot of stuff with is packed is useless, but you pay for that .Processing Raw,creative filters/?/,live mode /if you have patience to wait 4-5s??/

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: - Swivel screen!
- Low light capabilities!
- Awesome video!
- Good ergonomics
- IQ comparable to 7d

Cons: - No weather sealing
- Slightly lower build quality compared to 7d
- Lower max ISO compared to Nikon D7000

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from XSI. Been shooting for about 3 weeks. So far so good. No complaints! Swivel screen is very handy, especially is in a crowd trying to get pics above everyone! Great video capabilities, still learning and getting used to it though. Overall great value if moving up from a rebel camera.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: The 60D has proven to be a significant upgrade to my ageing Rebel XT. Higher resolution, quicker shutter speeds, and the addition of HD video has proven a winner

Cons: Thus far only insignificant ones. With the additional battery grip the camera becomes quite heavy. As expected, but just a heads up.

4 out of 5 eggsSome pointers for future buyers!

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: AWESOME PRICE! Bought on 24hr sale for $850. Good res, camera is essentially a 7D, wireless flash sync is awesome, grip is nice and comfortable in hand. Biggest pro without competition is the 3" LCD screen that swivels. Has helped with many shots and has broadened my horizons coming from 20D and 7D.

Cons: Live view mode AF SUCKS! Takes several seconds to focus and does not have ability to designate a specific 9-point focus area. This is a pain if holding the camera in an awkward position, which you will be if using the swivel screen. That said, Canon support may change this in future updates after talking to them and overall it is a minor problem for an awesome camera.

Other Thoughts: Important--- Buy an SDHC at Class 6 or higher!!! Otherwise you will not be able to take video! Background: I come from doing freelance photography for the last 2 years.

5 out of 5 eggsBest DSLR!

This review is from: Canon EOS 60D 4460B003 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: LCD display is gorgeous. Viewfinder is awesome! It operates quickly and has tons of options. Feels good in the hand, controls are easy to use. Very customizable. HD movie capability is a plus, but only just. You won't regret buying this camera. Picture quality is awesome!

Cons: To be honest, I could care less about the articulating LCD display. I'll never use it.. (not really a con I guess). Trying to focus in "Live Mode" (using the LCD vs the viewfinder) is painful, takes 10 times longer. It's a nice added feature for those certain situations..

Other Thoughts: Great camera! Had it for a month with no regrets. I am hobbyist and consider myself a semi-pro photographer.

If you buy this camera, just get the body and spend the extra cash on a good lens. Buying an expensive DLSR body and putting a cheap lens on it is like putting a jet engine on a pinto.
