5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I wanted

Pros: I use a laptop issued to me by a large company with an extremely inflexible desktop support staff. I had various request to use more than my standard two monitors which were all killed off by internal politics.

In an attempt to defy the evil corporate bureaucracy I explored solutions on my own. My laptop is a common mode used across enterprises so it's was trivial to research and determine that due to GPU restrictions it could cannot output to more than two monitors.

Despite this I continued to research alternative solutions and eventually came across this product as it looked like the best of the dongles. I was pretty leery of a number of issues, such as stuttering or poor overall performance. I am happy to say that after a minor driver update I can now use my third monitor with completely native performance! This is the first product on newegg I've been so happy with I've bothered writing a review. If your on the fence I can definitely suggest the product!

Cons: I orignally got occational slight delays (probably doing GC). I upgraded my machine USB 3.0 drivers & the display port adaptoers drivers and the issue was gone.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well so far

Pros: Runs my 2560x1080 monitor nicely for most purposes. Uses the stock DisplayLink driver so you don't have to rely on the device manufacturer to update drivers.

Cons: It isn't just a video adapter, but a mini USB 3.0 video card which requires some processor power to help push those pixels. My laptop fan will spin up if I try to play a game on the display connected to this adapter, which makes sense because it isn't using my built-in graphics card to do the rendering.

Other Thoughts: This solved my need for DisplayPort output from a laptop with only HDMI. The fact that this isn't a high performance video output and doesn't leverage my laptop's built-in graphics card is just the nature of the beast, and is really more about the fact that I bought a laptop without native DisplayPort. This gives me the DP output I needed, and is cheaper than most other DisplayLink adapter and dock options out there. I just won't be playing games on it.

5 out of 5 eggsA nice USB to DP adaptor

Pros: * The usual DisplayLink OSX driver. Mavericks support is finally out of beta.
* Works with my Macbook Air 2013
* Good price.

Cons: * The usual DisplayLink OSX driver limitations.
* The limitations of a DP adaptor when trying to connect it to older LCD's - some type of adaptor is needed.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tested the DP connection past 1080P yet.
I have used USB 2.0 version in the past, and at 1080P I don't see any notable speed difference for the USB 3.0 model in document reading and editing tasks.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat converters

Pros: Works for USB 2.0 with two 24" monitors @1080p.

Have them connected through a Belkin USB 2.0 HUB

Utilizes displaylink to convert USB to Displayport so all the the graphics are still handled through the Intel 4400 graphics chip.

Cons: Has issues coming back when the surface pro 2 wakes from sleep, but all of my USB devices do so I think it's a Microsoft problem and not the devices issues.

Drive on the supplied disk did not support Windows 8.1 x64.

Other Thoughts: I don't like to use sleep while the computer is docked so the fist con is no big to me and the drivers are available on Displaylinks website so the second con is not a big deal either. Those two cons imo aren't enough to dock this product a star.

My configuration is:
Surface Pro 2 256GB w/type cover
Surface Pro Dock
Three 24" Asus VE248Q Monitors
Center Monitor connected through Displayport on docking station
Outer two monitors connected via the UNITEK USB to Displayport connectors.
