3 out of 5 eggsOkay, for limited purposes

Pros: Cheap. Motion detection with upload to server works as advertised.

Cons: Cannot handle very bright or dark situations. If you want to use it outside, forget it. When it's sunny it's washed out, when it's dark you can't see anything. Not a true MJPEG stream; need ActiveX and IE to view stream in webbrowser (otherwise you can only get still shots in web browser).

4 out of 5 eggsI See You

Pros: Really good image. I can see my two cats up on my kitchen counter! (Bad Cats!!!)Easy setup if you are tech savvy on networking. I can view the camera on my laptop when i'm out of town. Great Camera for the price.

Cons: No Night vision.

Other Thoughts: I bought two more, they are working fine.

1 out of 5 eggsZonet camera

Pros: The NewEgg expierience. As always it was great. And the price was good too.
Camera looks good, easy mounting system. Images qaulity is good for price.

Cons: Zonets total lack of support. I will not buy any Zonet products in the future.
The camera does not do regular mjpeg video. It requires a active x app to view video.
Doesnt work with the Chrome browser.
I am unable to view from outside the lan. I can see the webpage of the camera but not the video feed.

Other Thoughts: I expect to find a work around for this as it appears to be the same as alot of other chinese cameras flooding the market. Just have to wait for another importer to come up with a new firmware that works.
As for Zonet they should be deported to the middle of nowhere. Never have I seen such poor support for a product. NewEgg should quit selling the brand.

1 out of 5 eggsNo support here either

Pros: Cost $39. It seems to be rugged. The cheap mounting bracket is so light that the camera falls often while setting it up and testing it. Inspite of all of the falls, it still works fine.

Cons: THERE IS NO TECH SUPPORT!!!!!! They have people who are called tech support, but they might as well be called politicians. The help you get is the same.
I called to get help with the active x installation on Windows 2000. Even though the camera is specified to work with Win2K, they told me to get a new operating system. I tried to install it on a WinXP computer and it doesn't work there either. They just ignore any more requests for help.
The connections are on the bottom and the mounting bracket is too short to clear the power plug. This is one reason that the camera is unstable.

Other Thoughts: When you find a computer where the active x installs, set the camera video up there. later you can access the camera by IP address/loginfree.jpg. This will give you a snapshot.

1 out of 5 eggsMost features don't work.

Pros: Will let you view the camera on your lan connection without too much effort. Ability to turn off LED lights on the camera, wireless.

Cons: Thank goodness I bought these on sale, like $40. Bought these to use the motion detection feature to email my gmail account. Tech support was a waste of time, emailed first and got: Dear customer:

Please try to set it up with the software come with the CD. The stmp should be like xxxxx.xxx..xx:5456 need to include the port number. Tried that 13 different ways with both gmail port numbers. If i use just smtp.gmail.com it says it cannot authenticate, smtp.gmail.com:645 says cannot resolve host name. Will update this if I get this resolved.

Other Thoughts: Newegg: I've been thinking for a whole now that you should have a product forum tab right on the product page so customers can help customers. Just a thought. NewEgg rocks.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Support

Pros: Good picture quality and low light capability similar to the D-Link DCS 920. Solid focusing ring. Three activity lights for wireless, lan and power. You can record from your browser without the monitoring software installed.

Cons: You can change the camera settings, brightness etc but they don't work. You can change the port numbers but the camera won't work with the new port numbers.

Other Thoughts: I gave the camera only one star because when I contacted support they told me to return the camera. Where is the firmware upgrade to fix these problems? If they make a camera that doesn't work and have no plans on supporting it why do they sell it?

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Camera when on sale

Pros: Cheap when on blowout sale from newegg, relatively easy to setup if you have some experience, decent image quality, pretty good low light image

Cons: No Audio, doesn't come with night vision ability, however if you read before you buy this would not be news!

Stand/hardware mechanism is not that great, a bit bulky, can not zoom in and out at least from what I can tell thus far.

Other Thoughts: It works!

5 out of 5 eggsDecent IP Camera

Pros: I purchased 3 of these cameras while they were on sale for half off. This camera has received several one-star reviews that are unjustified. The one-star ratings are written by folks don't know how to set up a wireless network and/or didn't bother to read the manual. I had no problems getting the camera set up. Detailed setup instructions are on the CD included with the product, and they state that to connect to the camera you need to change its IP address so it matches your network - once you do that you'll connect with no problems, and can then configure it for wireless connectivity.

Pros:
Works with Windows 7
Decent image quality
Good value for price
Can capture a static image via web browser without requiring a password
Supports WPA wireless encryption

Cons: Windows only - requires ActiveX plugin to view video
Video only - does not support audio

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome camera!

Pros: Awesome camera! For the price the quality is great (I got it half off), only took about 5 minutes to get configured with wireless and then you just plug it up wherever. Motion detection seems to work okay, but I haven't used that much.

Cons: Management software + web admin disables aero in windows 7 which is annoying for me.

Other Thoughts: When setting up the camera initially it default assigns itself an IP of 192.168.2.3, which could cause issues accessing management for people using default router setups on different subnets. I guess they wanted to avoid using DHCP to make it easier to login to the camera or setup port forwarding.

1 out of 5 eggsLeaves Something to be Desired

Pros: Ethernet cable included.

Cons: I cannot for the life of me get the Linksys WRT54G to communicate with this device. The Zonet manual says that the default IP is 192.168.2.3, which doesn't make a lot of sense if your router is set up with a different base. DHCP clients table does not list device. I have reset the camera numerous times hoping that it would assign it an IP address. Certainly I don't see how it can connect wirelessly if you have some kind of encryption set up, unless you can access it and change the settings, which you can, but I can't access it. I'm not sure what to do but try it on a different router eventually and change the settings, or return it.

Cannot not operate on battery.

Other Thoughts: I was hoping I could watch my plants at work and make some stop motion animations and play evil tricks on pets .
