2 out of 5 eggsWhat a hassle!!

Pros: It works...for now

Cons: The setup is absolutely horrible!
Manual and CD should be thrown out.

Other Thoughts: Think you'll follow the "easy" setup process? Think again. The manual says to connect your computer via Cat5 to the unit and connect to it like you would a router (which is pretty straight forward). However, when you go to enter the address to access the UI it never connects to the unit. Not once. After trying to connect to the UI for 1-2 hours I gave up. Tried the WPS button on the unit as a last attempt and then on my router to see if I can get any kind of connection made. The manuals say to NOT DO THIS.. IT WORKED! Tested the connection and it was live, BUT I couldn't access the internet. I could see it trying to via the LEDs, but no interwebs...*sigh*

I was hoping maybe I just needed to reset the unit to default settings and try again (like the manuals state) and indicate there is a reset button on the back. THERE IS NO RESET BUTTON ON THE UNIT! So, thinking my manuals are out of date, I go onto the TRENDnet website to download the current manual. None of the links work on the manufacturer website. If you want any kind of support you are on your own.

After pretty much giving up all hope and steps away from tossing this thing in the trash, I decided to use the WPS button one last time. Connection made to my router and FINALLY was able to get an internet connection because the stars must have aligned perfectly for this to happen. I'm not going to ever unplug this because I'm afraid it'll just stop working on me.

TAKE A TIP: Use the WPS button and forget connecting to the unit UI via Cat5 cable. Toss your manual and CD. Better yet, don't buy this at all because it's discontinued by the manufacturer.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple. Outstanding.

Pros: Got this free when I ordered an Asus router from the Egg. Thought, "Well, that is nice," but really didn't know if it would be any good or how I would use it. Turns out it has been fantastic for boosting signal strength on the second floor of our home as it receives the wireless signal from our Asus RT-N66U router. Literally plugged it in and had it running in no time. ZERO downtime since turning it on in April 2014. Speed is outstanding, and no issues with Wi-Fi Blu-ray player, tablet, laptop, desktop, smartphones, etc, all receiving strong, steady signals.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It was free, so that is a bonus, but even if I had bought it I'd give it the same 5-egg rating. For me, and our setup, it has been fantastic.

5 out of 5 eggsbridge works

Pros: inexpensive. shoprunner shipping ,works as advertised, most importantly STABLE. both bands do work ! unlike many "other" manufacturers who falsify specs or just don't know that products are garbage. IDK. "other"=Linxx,d-xx,netxx,tpxxx,and even the asxx yes ive tried them all on custom firmware and open ddwrt if was available. surprisingly , this is the only one I have not rma or returned yet. definitely not the run of the mill product as I assumed.

Cons: Nothing at the moment. ive had this going for a little over a month now, ive had no issues with it so far. speeds are mediocre. the range is worst than the one I upgraded from.
I don't know why it gets such bad reviews is a con , right?

Other Thoughts: Ive tried a dozen(that's from what I remember sure its a lot more) different bridges/ repeaters all in one units. some really well known brands and some weren't. out of the bunch I find this one overall the best. it's not spectacular by any means it does has its flaws, as all electronics do. but if you factor price/ performance and specs on paper this is the one to purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsTrendnet support does not exist

Pros: It came free when I purchased an Asus router.

Cons: The initial setup seemed fairly straight forward, but then it never connected with my devices. I tried to access the webgui again to see what was wrong, but it no longer lets me have access, even when I connect directly to it with a wired connection. I filed a support ticket with Trendnet, and they promised to get back to me in 2 working days, but Trendnet never tried to contact me, even after I sent them a second email.

Other Thoughts: It may sill work or it may be a bad one but I will never know because their techs won't contact me.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't use with Samsung equipment

Pros: It has decent speed and range

Cons: It doesn't work with Samsung equipment like TVs and Bluray players (tried quite a few out). I captured the issue with wireshark to show the packets that the Samsung equipment sends to validate the network connection. These packets are not repeated to the gateway which causes the Samsung equipment to fail to connect to the network (unfortunately if they don't dial out properly then they won't talk on the network at all).

I don't know what the tech support rep did with all the data I gave him but he let my support ticket expire, then when I had him re-opened the ticket he claims that he passed the information on to engineering. They haven't updated the firmware in a long time so I doubt they'll ever fix this problem. While debugging this I came across other issues that sounded like the same problem affecting other brands, one in particular was a Japanese audio receiver unit, the name escapes me. So if you plan on buying a bunch of these I recommend getting one to start with and making sure it works with the rest of your gear.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Customer Service!

Pros: I have been using two of these media bridges connected to a Netgear router. After working flawlessly for nearly one year, one of them started dropping connections. TrendNet customer service was FIRST CLASS in helping me return and replace my bridge. I appreciate their service and will be buying and recommending their products in the future.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It turned on

Cons: Purchased this based upon a review I saw from smallnetworkbuilder . I instantly regret it. Basically after struggling with CRC erros with 3 different wireless routers and spending literally hours changing every setting on this device I can conclude its trash.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat item

Pros: It works. Great speed. Have not had a drop in signal at all. I stream blue ray quality movies over it all night and it doesn't even hiccup. Easy setup. Four ports in the back are awesome for Xbox and ps3. I have mine next to my tv with my Xbox, printer, and htpc plugged into it with two laptops using the signal on the couch. Can't go wrong.

Cons: Price, but I got mine during a sale last year.
