Sennheiser RS 220 Digital Wireless Stereo Headphones (Black)

If today's high definition A/V components are a high-performance exotic sports car, the RS 220 is the driver.

Audiophiles have long asked when the audio quality of the legendary HD 600 series (HD 600 and HD 650) could be ported to a wireless format. Utilizing powerful developments in wireless audio transmission, the RS 220 bridges the gap between wireless and wired headphones via DSSS. Able to work in crowded RF environments amongst Bluetooth, Kleer and Wi-Fi signals, the RS 220 delivers clear, clean, uncompressed audio without the need for tuning.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat headphones, but overpriced

Pros: Excellent Sound Quality
Variety of input options
Good Wireless Range

Cons: Uses old 2.4GHz wireless technology which can conflict with WLAN and Bluetooth signals causing dropouts (troubleshooting section of owner's manual even mentions this).
Unusually long charge time for batteries in headset (16 hour charge for 8 hours of use)
Very Expensive

Other Thoughts: These are excellent sounding headphones that are simply too expensive to warrant a 5 star rating due to the rather old 2.4GHz wireless frequency they run on.

To prevent audio dropouts, some people (including myself) have had success in changing their WiFi channel on their 2.4GHz radio of their router to channel 11. After that, dropouts were almost eliminated.

These are open-backed headphones that permit sound to escape the cans and external sound to leak in. This is done to improve the soundstage but it means they probably can't be used in an open office environment.

While these cans sound great, I do use the "boom" app on my Mac to adjust the equalization settings a bit to improve treble clarity (headphones have a naturally darker sound to them). It's merely a matter of preference.

If wired/wireless doesn't factor in your decision, consider the Sennheiser HD 650. These headphones were based on that design and you can save a lot of money by buying those instead.
