5 out of 5 eggsTerrific entry level full frame DSLR

This review is from: Nikon D610 13305 Black 24.3 MP Digital SLR Camera Kit w/ 24-85mm VR Lens

Pros: Full frame (FX). 24MP. Quiet, fast, responsive. Least expensive full frame. Comparable to Canon D6. Nikon 610 is generally a better camera and most of the extra's for Canon D6 can be added on as accessories to Nikon 610 (GPS, wireless). Lots of fun. Has a flash (Canon 6D does not).

Cons: Little big and heavy coming from an old/small Canon EOS350. Does not come with fancy extra's like GPS or wireless phone app control. Only 1/4000 max shutter speed might be slightly too slow for fast action shots.

Other Thoughts: Love it so far. Amazing with 50mm Nikor 1.4G lens. Can't wait to try it with 105mm macro lens.

3 out of 5 eggsAutofocus doesn't always work

This review is from: Nikon D610 13305 Black 24.3 MP Digital SLR Camera Kit w/ 24-85mm VR Lens

Pros: Very nice camera. Takes excellent pictures. Dual SD slots are great. Videos are better than (my admittedly somewhat old) HD camcorder. Significant upgrade from my Canon EOS.

Cons: Autofocus has been intermittently failing. When you 1/2 press to autofocus the white focus assist LED comes on but no focusing, and the shutter is locked. Seems to happen about 10% of the time. Will submit updated review when I have a fully working device.

Also I was unable to use a promo code worth $50 because a $25 SD card was 'free' and I couldn't opt-out of it.

Other Thoughts: RMAing with Newegg. Am shooting a wedding with it next week and was a little disappointed that I had to submit a refund and order another so I'm on the hook for $5000 until the first completes RMA. Was hoping they'd let me exchange and spring for upgraded shipping, or ship the new while the old was in transit.
