Learn more about the BLACKBERRY 9900

Please read the product description carefully for all unlocked cell phones.

Some unlocked cell phones sold by Newegg may have previously been locked to a specific carrier. A carrier-locked cell phone may often have carrier-specific applications and branding. Some of these applications cannot be unlocked and/or may not function with a different carrier. Also, applications requiring a data plan may result in data usage charges from the original carrier.

In addition, the cell phone box may arrive unsealed and the cell phone may appear previously handled. The unlocking procedure requires unsealing the box and manually handling the cell phone. In this case, the cell phone should not be considered "tampered with" or "defective".

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid it Unless its free

Pros: I got it for free.
Sturdy Design
Camera is pretty good.
Choice of trackpad or touchscreen functionality

Cons: The Browser is unstable and will crash on simple blog pages.
The software support is terrible and the Appworld apps are riddled with ads if they are free.
The trackpad glitches and will scroll down on its own for no reason, have to take out the battery and restart it.
The "full power off" is misleading and it actually does not restart the phone, you need to pull out the battery to do that.
The media player glitches and will not play, have to take out battery to fix this.
No way of killing apps if they are frozen, you have to take out the battery for that.
Sometimes the phone/browser will just ignore your clicks to links and you have to restart the mobile connection to get it to do anything.
The battery indicator is a lie, sometimes it will stay at 90% and then turn off your Radio because the battery dropped to less than 10%
When you do pull out the battery sometimes it will just murder up to 25% of the battery charge, or maybe it actually updated the battery indicator.
Sometimes the phones message indicator glitches and will say you have notifications when there aren't any.
The battery life lasts 1 day regardless of use.
* I am writing this review after I updated it to the last O/S as of 9/19/2013 - Fixed nothing

Other Thoughts: I used this as a personal phone, maybe for business its better ?

I would not recommend this phone to anyone unless they can get it for free.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat improvement

Pros: disregard previous review. This phone sounds fantastic, i even gave my Zune player to my girlfriend because this phone sounded way better than my Zune and does the job better than my zune. second thing, this is how all the BB should've been, fast and reliable. i can do way more stuff than i used to do

Cons: this is con is not worth taking an egg off. The problem is the memory, i wonder why did RIM made the Bold 9650 with more App memory than this, i remember i used to have a lot of memory with my old bold (but i couldn't use it anyways because the phone is too slow -compared to this one-)

Other Thoughts: again, disregard previous review, which is nonsense. why would you take 2 eggs off because of the sound quality of the phone, when the phone was improved better than any other BB's in all senses (except app memory storage)

3 out of 5 eggsClose, but but some real flaws

Pros: Nice wide keyboard like the original Bold 9000.
Snappy performance.
Nice touchscreen with track pad option.

Cons: Audio quality for the person you are calling is low volume, with somewhat muffled treble, making it difficult for the person on the other end to hear what you're saying. The Torch 9800 has much better audio quality. Hard to believe RIM would produce a phone with poor audio quality at this day and age.

MUTE button is placed between the volume up/down buttons, and there is no spacing between the buttons. This poor location makes it far too easy to inadvertently activate the MUTE feature when you're just trying to change the volume level.

Other Thoughts: The original Bold 9000 was a great phone. This 9900 could be great as well, but RIM needs to fix the audio and move the MUTE button away from the volume buttons.
