LG G Flex 2 H950 - 32GB AT&T ATT Unlocked International Curved 4G LTE Smartphone - Platinum Silver

LG G Flex 2 is a fascinating phone released Feb 2015, coming with a huge 5.5" screen, an extremely fast 64-bits Octa-Core CPU (composed by a Quad-Core running at 2000 megahertz and an extra Quad-Core ticking at 1.5 gigahertz), a 13 megapixels back facing camera and a 2.1 megapixels front side camera. LG decided to power this cellphone using a high performance 64 bit Octa-Core CPU (as a matter of fact it's really a Quad-Core running at 2 gigahertz and an additional Quad-Core speeding at 1.5 gigahertz), packed into a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 chip with a big 3 GB RAM memory. The LG G Flex 2 is much lighter than what one would expect from a phone this size.

This phone has an amazing design, with a thickness of just 0.37". Though this cellphone is only 5.87 inches long, it manages to hold a 5.5" screen. LG made this cellphone in gray and red. This cellphone has a great 5.5 inches screen with a 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution, which makes all images and videos look absolutely great. Its screen uses P-OLED capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch for gestures like pinch and zoom.

4 out of 5 eggsWow, all that and a bag of chips!

Pros: I was in a bit of a pickle, my carrier had just announced that subsidized pricing was gone *POOF*! I had an old iPhone 5 and I needed something better. To my surprise, I come across the last item on my list, the LG G Flex 2. I had never considered this phone as an option and had previously been sucked into the madness that is Galaxy devices. I truly pinched my self because the price was out of this world fantastic! I was concerned it was coming from a 3rd party, but the condition was new and the price was freaking awesome (below 250). So I jumped... SOOOOO glad I did! The seller shipped it extremely quick, provided the unlock code (it's now unlocked), and was great with providing shipping updates. Now that I've had it for 2 months, I love this phone, it has all of the high end specs I was hoping for, and it's a great conversational piece as well. Obviously, this phone had it's issues from release (as do all phones), but given the recent upgrades to 5.1.1, a lot of the original issues have been corrected. LG has corrected a lot of the overheating issues with the 810, they have optimized the phone quite well, but it still needs some TLC. All of the other disses from critics (camera, screen, sound, etc) those only exist when you physically compare side by side. Since I have nothing to compare, but a 3 year old iPhone 5, it was light years ahead and I'm super happy.

Pros -
* 810 Processor
* 3GB Ram
* Upgraded to 5.1.1 from the carrier
* Slated to receive Marshmallow Q1 2016
* SD Card Slot!!!
* Quick charge support
* The Curve is fun to have, also fits great in my pocket.

Cons: * 810 Processor (Hopefully in Marshmallow, LG implements a few tweaks to optimize the phone, it's very fast now but at times it is a bit sluggish due to poor CPU optimization)
* Camera (not the best camera, 13MP is great, but quality is meh when compared to what's out there, I can agree here with the critics, but it's no slouch, images can be very crisp it just struggles a bit in low light)
* Rear button placement (I have already experienced on three different occasions my phone taking 6-10 pictures of my pocket, maybe my pants are too tight, but the button placement causes inadvertent interaction with the phone features. Had to disable the camera hot key access, which is holding the down volume on the back)
* Battery life (Most likely due to poor optimization, and this may be directly related to Lollipop and it's many bugs and issues, the battery tends to run down quickly at times, I've tried to pinpoint it but all it ever says is "Android System". Makes me think the CPU is caught in a processing loop, I can tell sometimes as it starts to heat up in my pocket without even using it. I find myself power cycling it often to clear hidden background tasks.
* No wireless charging support
* Few accessories to choose from

Other Thoughts: If you are looking to buy a phone outright, don't want want to spend a ton on car...er I mean a cellphone, I recommend picking up the LG G Flex 2. It is on par with almost every other flagship released in 2015. You certainly get a bit more than what you are paying for (assuming it is on sale again). If this phone is not on sale then I would consider other phones as you are going to get more accessory support, and less bloatware for the same price. All in all, I would do it again if I had the chance.
Thanks Good Guys!!!

5 out of 5 eggsVery cool phone, Awesome price.

Pros: -Seller Oriented-
*Good Guys shipped the phones (2) quickly via FedEx 2 day.
*They arrived in AT&T packaging that looked pretty pristine.
*The phones and their accessories (all factory LG) were brand new with protective film.
*Both phones came with the SIM unlock codes clearly printed on affixed labels
*The phones are covered for 1 year under the factory LG warranty and were easily registered on MyLG.
*Fantastic price (Newegg Flash)

-G Flex 2-
*Easily the nicest phone I have ever owned by a long shot
*Beautiful design- The phone feels and looks thinner than it seemed in reviews. The color is a great looking gunmetal grey.
*Curved screen seems more subtle and elegant in hand vs. video reviews.
*Very fast w/ Snapdragon 810 & 3gb LPDDR4.
*Nice 32gb storage capacity & SD card slot.
*Easily SIM unlocked using aforementioned supplied code.
*Took 10 minutes to properly configure APN and network settings for WM Family Mobile. LTE & MMS working great!
*Beautiful 1080p OLED dispay without over-saturation I have seen on some other OLED screens. Games and video look great.
*Fantastic call quality and voice definition.
*Pretty effortless multitasking.
*Great network performance on WiFi w/ an AC router. (WM Family Mobile really doesn't let the LTE stretch out).
*I like the IR blaster and quick remote app. They work perfectly for my LG 4K smart TV.

Cons: *Lots of AT&T & LG bloatware
*LG skin needs to go in favor of naked Android (The Moto G this phone is replacing is a fine example of less is more).
*I will evidently have to purchase a $10 AT&T go phone SIM to upgrade to Marshmallow once it arrives for the G Flex 2.

Other Thoughts: For the price I paid for the phone (recent Newegg Flash sale), I can deal with the bloatware and skin. In my opinion, it's a small trade off to have a high end phone like this at an awesome price. After the warranty expires, it's root/ROM time. I'm glad I chose the G Flex 2 over the Zenfone 2 64gb and saved $60 to boot. I was a bit worried by the negative reviews for Good Guys, but I feel they did a great job and got the phone to me quick. I would definitely consider the again in the future and overall this has been a fantastic purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible phone

Pros: Powerful specs, but so poorly designed that it can't be trusted to work as advertised.

Cons: Overheats even on basic operations. Android often becomes slow and laggy for no clear reason, and only a reboot helps. Camera is mediocre in low light, fine in daylight. One solitary speaker on the back. It's loud, but easily obstructed.

Other Thoughts: I switched to this phone from a Nokia Lumia 1020, and it was a huge mistake. Even with vastly superior processor and 50% more RAM, this phone runs slower than the Lumia. This is no doubt due to the operating system, as Windows Phone is simply a better optimized OS.

Unless you're a complete app nerd who desperately needs snapchat, skip this, and I'd even go so far as to say skip Android and buy a Windows Phone. More likely than not you'll find what you need and you won't have to deal with Android's inherent crappiness. I'm returning this phone and switching back to a Lumia.

4 out of 5 eggsNice phone

Pros: 1.Very sleek and responsive phone 2. got a new sim for the phone and activated it for the new phone and I was in business. Didn't need to enter an unlock code. 3. very nice screen and no defects to the phone what so ever. 4. Price

Cons: 1.Box to the phone looked like it had been open multiple times although the phone itself looked brand new. 2. AT&T bloatware(most of it was able to be uninstalled).

Other Thoughts: Bought this phone for my son for Christmas and was a little nervous after I ordered the phone and saw a number of bad reviews in reference to the seller (goodguys). I was very happy with the end result though and realized that I had ordered 2 other items from them and was very satisfied with the service on all the items I bought from them.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent phone - works on T-Mobile, BUT: OS is locked down on this, the H950 (not the same as other G Flex 2s)

Pros: I replaced my Nexus 4 on T-Mobile with this. Thought the curved screen was a bit cheesy but now I love it so much. This phone is different enough to get noticed in the street without compromising on power and features.

Favorite features (which I didn't get in my Nexus 4):
- Picture-in-picture photos (front picture in back picture and vice versa)
- Smart unlock - when I arrive home or get in my car, the phone unlocks automatically
- Double tap the screen to make it sleep or wake it
- Expandable memory

The whole experience is so polished - from the red case with the hole and mini apps that work without opening it to the fact that it has infrared that can control your TV to the stereo jack being in the bottom and not the top. They have really thought this through and I have no design complaints.

It has many more features over my wife's Nexus 5.

Finally - the seller provided the PUK (SIM) unlock code so that my T-Mobile sim works in it with no extra jailbreaking other than entering a T-Mobile APN.

Cons: 1) Between LG and ATT there must be 15 bloatware apps preloaded on this phone. *DO NOT* try to forcefully remove the bloatware. Why? Because LG have integrated it into the phone such that you'll mess it up if you do anything other than disable it.

2) Do not buy this phone if you intend to to any kind of rooting or bootstrapping. It just won't work. Buy a G Flex 2 which is not branded to ATT's specs (i.e. not the H950). You may disagree with me if you are a hard-core coder, but I'm telling you - Stump Root can't root it. In the end you'll get into a boot loop and you'll try to flash it which won't work either because LG have locked the bootloader (against Android's ethos of being open source) leaving you with a brick.

I think this is part of the reason that the phone is so inexpensive here for what it is. They know that you are getting a phone which is locked down.

If you can live with disabled bloatware apps then get it. If you can't, still get a G Flex 2, just not the H950.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat. But like anything else, it has its flaws.

Pros: -Great specifications, considering the price I paid for it.
-Battery life is not wonderful, but not horrible either. The phone will have roughly half its battery left after I am done using it for the day. I am a power user, or consider myself one at least, so this is adequate.
-Speaking of the battery, I am impressed with how quickly the battery charges. Roughly 30% in 20 minutes, if my sense of time is correct.
-Surprisingly did not come preinstalled with Twitter. Very grateful for this.
-Was accepted by Cricket Wireless' network with no issues. 4G LTE is wonderfully fast. Had to remove the preinstalled AT&T SIM card, which wasn't an issue.
-32GB is a good amount of space.

Cons: -Eight cores is exceedingly overkill and unnecessary for a phone. Four is already more than enough.
-Runs fairly hot during multimedia use and prolonged use. Not hot enough to cause any issues, mind.
-Lots and lots of bloatware. You can uninstall none of it and some you cannot even disable. The one that gets on my nerves the most is 'AT&T Address Book', which I have no intention of using, yet it brings up a popup every time I open my Contacts. Sincerely hoping this will go away on its own or I am able to get rid of it and other bloatware using root.
-I have searched high and low for a custom ROM for this phone... and there doesn't seem to be any. All of the major ones (Cyanogen, Carbon etc.) have seemed to have skipped this phone. A bit of a letdown.
-The placing of the power and volume hardware buttons is... strange. They are on the back of the phone, not on the top like I am used to. Not necessarily a con, I suppose, but this might get on someone's nerves a little.

Other Thoughts: There are a few double-edged swords with this phone. One is the curved design - it makes it easier to hold, which I appreciate, as I have dropped several phones in the past and don't want to drop this one. On the flip side though, the curve feels awkward in my pocket. I am hoping the case I purchased will remedy this.

One other thing that should be noted is the physical size of the phone. It is nice to have such a large, beautiful screen. Watching videos and playing games is a great pleasure because of it. However, again, it is awkward to put it in your pocket for that reason.

I would have liked a pair of earbuds to come included with the phone, my previous HTC One (M7) did.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful phone but some require SIM unlock code

Pros: Slick Design, Powerful processor, and Got all features you'd want when upgrading from a Nexus 5 1st gen.

Cons: Sometimes lags wit LG launcher. Google Now launcher is better. NOT SIM unlocked - the one I got was NOT unlocked for T-Mobile and requires purchasing a SIM unlock code. (-1 egg)

Other Thoughts: I wish the phone I got was SIM unlocked out of the box. Almost feels like false advertising for me.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal!

Pros: The phone looks like a brand new one. Took the SIM card out of my Asus Zen 2, put it in the Flex 2, and started using it. Call clarity is great! The phone did get hot when I did the software update to 5.1 but I guess that is normal for the processor. It is fast too. Lot of ATT app stuff on there, I just disabled most of it. Al in all a steal at this price. The box had a sticker on the back that said something about an unlock code but I didn't have to do anything except swap SIM cards. I like the tap pattern to unlock the screen too. Call clarity is better than any phone I have owned. Just came off of 4 years using Apple products... This phone also hooked right up to my 5gHz wireless network. The camera is good, took some indoor shots that came out well.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: Only time will tell if the phone will hold up and is bugless.
