3 out of 5 eggsNot Impressed

Pros: - Nice when it works

Cons: locks up all the time, only showing the side buttons being lit and device is useless until battery dies or until you force reset.

Other Thoughts: locks up at the weirdest times, when you hold buttons down too much, or swipe erratically (my 3 yr old nephew).

I have a nexus one so I know what the experience is supposed to be like. This device I purchased for my girlfriend and some of the little ones running around and this device is NOT IDIOT PROOF

4 out of 5 eggsScreen crack nightmare

Pros: Really liked the tablet so far. Works well for my uses. Didn't really have any complaint, I thought the battery life was reasonable.

4 Stars on the tablet. But the rest of our experience has been pretty bad, but not really Neweg's fault.

Cons: The screen cracked when it slid off of the lip of our keyboard. We had had it for 3 or 4 days at this point.

Trying to remedy the screen crack has proven impossible so far. There is only one place who repairs the cracks and the cost is pretty high ($150-220), and there are no DIY screen replacements that I have been able to find for the 7". If we had dropped it, I would cry about it and buy a new one. But the damage is not reasonable for what happened to it. Apparently we should have just lied about what happened to it. "Oh hey, it came out of the box this way." And we would be done with this nightmare.

Other Thoughts: We called dell first, they refused to talk to us and said that we would need to take it up with the vendor.

We called Newegg and they stated there was nothing to be done about the broken screen through them. They will not refund it since it was accidental (although completely unreasonable) damage, and they do not offer any repair kits. I would be fine with paying for a repair kit honestly. They did refund the second one we purchased which was not damaged. I honestly just don't want it anymore if it's going to crack with that kind of force. However there is nothing they can do about the broken one. They said to call Dell again.
Called Dell and was laughed at by the "Supervisor" for the duration of the call, told that the damage was impossible and told that it would cost $249 to have it repaired. Which is what we paid for it. But don't worry "Supervisor" said that purchasing another one was also a smart way to go.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Tablet Ever

Pros: Sleek, lightweight, bright, much cheaper than the Galaxy.

Cons: There is a reason it is cheaper than the Galaxy. It is a huge pile of excrement. You have to install this Deal Sync bloatware to get it to work. The software is owned by Nero. It is very clunky. iTunes is a light weight easy to use software compared to this. I returned it within a day and was excited to pay the 15% restocking fee. Save yourself the trouble of buying this and punch yourself in the face. It is free and will hurt less. I instead bought the SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Tablet Cortex-A8 1.00GHz 7" Wide SVGA 512MB Memory 16GB Flash HDD WIFI Only.

2 out of 5 eggs2 Aspects are a major deterrent to this product

Pros: CPU, size, storage and build are pretty solid. Product is laid out great. Some people complain about the button location but it is perfect once you have it in your hands. The full size SD is easier to come by than a microSD.

Cons: Of the two aspects that kill this product, one is easily resolvable in the future. The Froyo 2.2 build is behind the times and inappropriate for this tablet. There are Honeycomb builds for this product but they are based on much larger resolutions and do not quite port correctly. Dell is supposed to release an official 3.2 update soon and that problem will be resolved. The killer of this product that is not going to be resolved is the screen. The pixelization and screen quality is terrible. The response of the touch screen for a capacitive screen is very poor compared to several other devices. The screen is what kills this device and makes it a major failure. It could have been a homerun. A 7" tablet is the perfect size.

1 out of 5 eggsSkip it

Pros: Cheap 7" Android Tablet.
Bright screen.

Cons: Very poorly executed by Dell.
Firmware does not seem to be customized by Dell for the wifi only version, so 83% battery usage on "cell standby" on a device which will never have a cell connection. The fix requires rooting the device.
Windows 7 access to onboard storage seems to require installation of bad Nero ControlCenter software.
Very slow and weak wifi.
A lot of glare on the screen makes it a poor choice as an e-reader.
So so playback of h.264 movies.
No playback of 720p movies.

4 out of 5 eggsDell Streak7 Android Tablet

Pros: 7 inch screen is a good size. Access to Android Market. Great price at Newegg. Saved $100US! Lots of memory. Good Deal. Nvidia Tegra graphics. No compatibility issues with software, all run without issus.

Cons: Needs a protective jacket to prevent damage if dropped. Should include a screen protector. Cannot access battery.

Other Thoughts: All things considered, I feel that this tablet is a good size, a very good value when compared to other Android tablets and it does not need to be a mobile phone to access the proprietary Android Market. Without access to the monopoly that is the proprietary "market", any android device is useless

4 out of 5 eggsIf only it had a better battery

Pros: Processing speed. Native access to Android Market. Flash runs great on it. Full size SD card slot

Cons: Battery life

Other Thoughts: This is my first dip in the Android waters. I own an iPhone4 and an iPad 1. I've wanted to try Android and the 7" size fills the gap. I really like the size of the 7" tablets as the 10" tabs are really no more portable than a small laptop imo. Some complain about the button placement but I really like it as they are directly under your thumb in landscape and you don't have to stretch your thumb to reach them in portrait. I immediately removed the Dell Stage widgets and went with other widgets instead. Some complain about the somewhat low resolution, but it doesn't bother me in the least. FWIW, I'm enjoying Android a LOT more than iOS. You can make Android act like iOS (simple app launcher) or you can customize the home screens to do so much more.

5 out of 5 eggsDell Streak 7 Android Tablet

Pros: Model I received has a lot more internal memory then listed in specifications. 2 gig internal app storage, 16 gig tablet storage. Plus SD card slot. Yes!! Android OS v2.2.2. Full access to the Android Market!!!!!!!!! Fantastic price. What a deal! 7 inch screen, not to big, not too small. Accessories available from Dell. Extended warranty available from Dell.(Spoke with a Dell rep.) No stylus needed.

Cons: Comes with a screen protector attached, but would have prefered a spare of higher quality. This is a very minor point considering the low, low price paid. Automatic screen brightness setting not functioning properly. With auto brightness checked, screen constantly adjusting, distracting. Leave this setting off.

Other Thoughts: Extremely happy with device considering price that I paid was less than $300.00US. Must have been a special, as the price went up the next day. Unusual.!?! I am not complaining. Thank you NewEgg!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood with flaws

Pros: Tegra 2 at a great price, front and rear cameras, Runs FAST. When I got it, it was the cheapest you could get Tegra 2.

Cons: Having all the dell bloat restart and run everytime wifi is turned on. REALLY Dell??!? I have to kill accuweather and some other stuff every time I turn off wifi so I can save some of the tiny battery. Having to constantly kill your bloat and not be able to remove it = -1 egg.

Other Thoughts: Thought initially that the battery life was really bad but saw through the battery monitor that "Cell Standby" was the battery hog. Must be the same ROM as the 3G version. I now run it in airplane mode and battery life is slightly better.
This Tablet WILL NOT charge through usb and Honeycomb is still a gamble on this purchase. Who knows if Dell will keep the promise they made at CES. If not, this will be my last Dell purchase. Hopefully honeycomb will be released for the 7 when the 10 comes out.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: No contract
Dual core processor
Upgradable to next Android version
Full size SD card
Responsive and stable

Cons: Non removable battery
Lack of available accessories at this point
No Windows 7 drivers (Dell support says they have a problem and their dev team is working on a resolution) Until then you can't copy files or snyc via USB and will need to use a SD card.

Other Thoughts: So far I am very happy with this purchase. I'm not seeing the problems with viewing angles or the lower resolution that others mention as a con. Don't get too caught up in the specs! Video playback has been flawless. The battery life is a little short but more than sufficient for my daily commute. However a replaceable battery would be nice for longer trips. Otherwise I can't wait for the above driver issue to be solved and for an OS upgrade.
