5 out of 5 eggsMy First Tab

This review is from: SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Quad Core 2GB Memory 16GB 8.4" 2560 x 1600 Touchscreen Tablet Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Pros: So far I'm loving this tablet; this is my first tablet I've purchased for myself. The reason I chose this tablet is because of it's speed. It has one of the highest benchmarks for an Android tablet and to get higher you'd need to move up to the 500-600 price point. Keep in mind that it's benchmark testing score is that high WITH A MUCH HIGHER RESOLUTION. This is a huge big deal. I was debating about getting the EVGA Tegra as it's benchmarks were even higher than this tablet but one of the main factors for this is that the Tegra's resolution is 1200x800 vs the 2560x1600 produced by the Tab Pro. I love the build of this tablet. It's thin, light but not cheap feeling, and the back is made from synthetic leather. The leather provides just the right amount of grip without going into something very rubbery feeling. The leather is VERY comfortable and I feel it makes the tablet look classy. Also, it doesn't pick up many fingerprints. In my opinion, getting anything larger than 16g internal storage is a waste of money UNLESS your device lacks an SD card slot which this tablet does not. Someone already posted that they have tested a 128gig micro SD successfully in this unit. In regards to the battery life, I feel that it is sufficient. I don't think it holds a candle to the battery life of an iPad but then again I sold my gifted iPad and used the money to buy this tablet. (I'm not a fan of iAnything) I'm going on my second day of heavy use on this tablet and I still have 40% charge.

Cons: As someone else had posted, I'm a bit surprised that this new tablet on came with 2GB of RAM. I was hoping for 4. I truly think that this is just a mental thing. For most/all computing devices, extra RAM that is not being used does NOTHING AT ALL to your performance but instead seems to sooth your mind that the extra space is there if you would ever need it. So far I have used 1.4GB of the available RAM with several applications running. Thankfully, all you need to do to close open apps is tap the "windows button" (No idea what it's actually called) and drag off the apps you are no longer using. My second "Con" is that I'm having a very difficult time find accessories for this tablet. I was even forced to shop online for the book-case cover that is made for this device.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I do not have regrets about buying this tablet. Samsung, in my opinion, is taking over the non-Apple mobile market and I'm thankful I have an alternative to iOS. If I run into any issues I'll be sure to post another review.

As a note for a VERY specific type of person, this tablet is currently NOT supported for the Heroes of Order and Chaos game.

4 out of 5 eggsGalaxy TAB 8.4 PRO

This review is from: SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Quad Core 2GB Memory 16GB 8.4" 2560 x 1600 Touchscreen Tablet Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Pros: Amazing device, just right size of screen if you preffer not big not small. HD screen is nice and tablet very good built, slim and work perfect. I had before 10 different kinds of tablets and this one is best.

Cons: I gave 4 stars because 2GB of Memory. I think for PRO version it must start from 3, and price tag is pretty high for 2G memory. No other Cons.

Other Thoughts: There are limited accessories for it. No docking, charging or sound systems. Hard to find any.
Otherwise its a very good Tablet.

5 out of 5 eggsPremium Tablet

This review is from: SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Quad Core 2GB Memory 16GB 8.4" 2560 x 1600 Touchscreen Tablet Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Pros: Does take 128GB micro SD cards even though the description says 64gb. Best quality screen you can buy. Very fast, all day long battery life when playing HD video, and a pleasure to read on. The speakers are loud and clear and it's easy to hold in 1 hand (for me)

Cons: Easy to touch side buttons (like back button) when in landscape but you get used to hand placement quickly.

Other Thoughts: You honestly can't go wrong getting this tablet. If you don't get this any other tablet is a downgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsWojciech M.

This review is from: SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Quad Core 2GB Memory 16GB 8.4" 2560 x 1600 Touchscreen Tablet Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Pros: This is more a response to M. Wojciech's review. The SD card issue you mention bothered me as well at first till I found a solution somebody had posted on a website. You didn't need another person to fit the card into the slot. Simply take something like a credit card & use the side to push down the card into the slot till it clicks in & that will fix your problem.

Cons: Just filling this in as it is a required field in order to post the "review".

Other Thoughts: Just mentioning that the purpose of this "review" is not really to review the product. Rather it is done to provide people who may be having the issue with inserting the SD card into the slot with a solution that actually works very well. Enjoy...

2 out of 5 eggspremium screen, premium build?

This review is from: SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 Quad Core 2GB Memory 16GB 8.4" 2560 x 1600 Touchscreen Tablet Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Pros: It goes without saying that the screen is gorgeous. It is currently the leader in pixel density and the sharpest I have ever seen. Flipping through photos is a joy. Color reproduction without calibration is nearly spot on. Blacks are decent for this type of panel. Apps run fast and smooth. Probably the fastest tablet I had the pleasure of handling. The keyboard is easy to use and has many needed additions other keyboards lack (for example, not having to switch between numeric and alpha characters) . Samsung offers some great features such as split screen and multitasking in addition to many nifty apps like flipboard and side sync. The camera is the best I've seen on a tablet.

Cons: Build quality, more to come on this later. The battery isn't great at all. I would say around 5 to 7 hrs of continuous use, depending on what it's being used for. It seems like my G Pad gets an extra day on its battery with normal everyday use. The tab pro battery life is pretty disappointing so far. The capacitive buttons located on the bezel are a bit annoying. I already nicked them a few times on accident. The home button isn't as much of a problem because it has to be pressed in. These buttons will be an issue for some who use the tab in landscape orientation. The upside is that screen real estate isn't eaten up with buttons. The speakers are located on the bottom about three inches apart. When holding the tab landscape my hand will muffle them. The last con is the micro sd card slot. Unlike some other tablets the door is nicely constructed and stays tightly shut. The difficulty is putting the card in and taking it back out. The actual compartment that hinges the card is so deeply inside the body that I had to get someone to put the card in. My fingers won't fit. This isn't really a con but more of an annoyance.

Other Thoughts: The build quality of this tablet is why my review is low. I'm pretty sure this may be specific to my particular model but after doing some digging online I found at least one other instance of the same problem. The first time I opened the box I noticed that the silver plastic trim around the tablet was a little flimsy. It would slightly move right above where the volume rocker was located. This didn't seem like anything but upon further inspection I noticed the back of the tablet is slightly coming off above the charging slot. The back is plastic and however attached it's coming loose. It's flush all around except for the bottom with the gap. At first I didn't give it a second thought but since owning the tablet for a week the gap has widened! Makes me think it will eventually come off. I can also feel my hand grinding against the plastic that separated. It's very offsetting that one pays 400 dollars for what is marketed as a premium device and receives one with plastic pieces literally coming apart. But again I'm not sure if I just got unlucky with my model. It's also hard for me to check the models in stores because of security devices covering the entire area. Until further notice two stars due to flimsy construction.
