2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: This device works as a camera and performs the tasks that it was advertised to do. The item is priced very well.

Cons: Considering the price, I wasn't really expecting much. I figured I'd give it a shot since I didn't have much to lose.

There are a few problems that I have with this camera unit.
- The camera mount doesn't seem to be very firm. I have to re-adjust it and tighten it every so often.
- The image quality is poor. I set it to record at 1080, however, when I played it back, it looked like it was recorded at a low resolution and just up-scaled.
- The camera sensor suffers from rolling shutter (jello effect). It does not handle vibrations very well, and the rolling shutter problem is very noticeable when you have your windshield wipers go back and forth.
- The loop recording doesn't seem to work properly. This camera has always stopped recording and stating that the memory card is full. I have to constantly format the card and have it start recording again.

Other Thoughts: If you have a few dollars to spare, then you can buy this camera but don't expect anything great. It's better than not having any video camera in your car so I suppose it's worth purchasing. However, if you are serious about quality, such as being able to read a license plate, check out the systems from FineVu or BlackVue.

1 out of 5 eggsMine died

Pros: Very cool to use, easy to offload videos, easy to 'protect' events (so that it won't overwrite that particular video), and now I wouldn't drive without one.

Cons: The battery in mine died the first day (after ten minutes of use). The entire unit died the second day. It won't charge, and won't turn on even when plugged in.

Other Thoughts: I do want one that works. Just not this one.

5 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised

Pros: Great video quality, extremely easy to set up, shows speed and location right on the screen

Cons: It's a little bulky, cords coming from the windshield drive me nuts, suction cup mount doesn't always hold.

Other Thoughts: All in all I would suggest this camera to anyone looking for an in-vehicle solution with good video quality at a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: Fast ship (From overseas), 9 days. Camera appears to work. Going to take me a while to figure it all out.

Cons: Poor instructions, tiny writing.

Other Thoughts: MANY reviews talked about ultra slow shipping from this vendor, but mine came fast and the tracking was accurate and up to date. Don't know if they are getting their act together or if there is a large variance do to other factors such as customs, shipping overseas, routs, shippers or what.

4 out of 5 eggsCamera can be beaten into submission

Pros: Wish I could take the time to just write a manual for this camera, but here are a few helpful hints, since the documentation is sketchy: Plan to spend an hour pressing buttons at your desk until you have figured it out, and take notes, because it ain't like any other camera you have and you won't remember a month from now. I almost trashed mine when I couldn't get a microSD card shoved in deep enough to actually lock in place, but eventually did so. Don't plan on ever removing this -- too frustrating. The "OK" button is the "REC" button and you have to press this a lot when setting menu items. The endless loop implementation is useless, as it gives you a max of 3 minutes before it starts over. You're in an accident and before you know it this tiny bit of footage is overwritten. With a 32gb card you can record almost 4 hours, but it will be done in 1.3gb chunks. If it restarts a lot (like every 2 minutes) you probably have a loose power connector. I had to use a rubber band on mine. The data rate is the same whether you use "1080" or "1440" or "720" so just use 1080. No you cannot fast forward, rewind, etc when viewing on the LCD. The audio was so bad I just turned mine off. It is not a matter of positioning or ambient noise: It's just bad engineering. You might get as much as 3 minutes' use when not connected to a power source. As others note, this is intended to give it enough juice to do an orderly shutdown after your power is disconnected. It's quite rugged: I threw mine as high as I could to see what kind of shot I could get. Might work if I attached streamers to keep it stable on descent but not just throwing it up. The mount is excellent and kept the camera steady going up a 4wd road for 20 minutes. There is a mysterious icon when recording video of an asterisk and moon, which is undocumented but possibly refers to the ability to sort of record in low light. You can actually get an eerie green image of something very close using the 4 LEDs that seem to come on automatically in low light. Hope they don't come on when driving in a dark place, as they'd just reflect into the windshield (duh). May need electrical tape over these. The images are FAR more stable than I expected, even on that 4WD road I mentioned. You should be happy with the video if not the audio. Wish I had so much time on my hands that I could test all the different video resolutions. For example, there is no such thing as "1920" pixel wide consumer video, only 1440, which is interpolated. I note that 1440 is an option. Perhaps the video would be better stretched to 1920 on the computer, freeing up the tiny brain in this thing to do something else? I paid $23 from a Korean Newegg vendor and had it in my hands in Virginia in 17 days.

Cons: Mostly undocumented but most features can be worked out; audio on my example was useless. Poor power connector and microSD port.

3 out of 5 eggsHow do I use it?

Pros: The item looks very good. Hope works the same.

Cons: No instruction booklet, and I have tried pushing different buttons still with no good results to understand how it works properly.

Other Thoughts: Vendor should include instructions, so we will be able to use properly the item.Maybe a place where download instructions

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works; It's small; The mounting brackets is very sturdy and secures well to the windshield. The price was more than reasonable. Seems like its on a 30 minute loop. Turns off with car and comes back on when car is turned on just like the instructions said. Have not used in yet when it is dark out side so can not comment on that function. But the day light filming is clear. Very inexpensive and I was truly surprise that it worked.

Cons: The camera is inexpensive and it looks like it was used. Took over 2 weeks to get item from over seas. But it did come.

Other Thoughts: For the price I paid! It was worth it. Hopefully I will never have to use it as proof to a horrific accident. We drive in the woods a lot and sometimes there's a bear or a fox running along the edge, it will be nice to have proof, when I talk about it since it seems like I can never pull out my cell phone quick enough. We will see! I only gave it a 4 stars because of the quality of the camera but if I rate it by price and quality I give it a 5 star. The price was under $20.00 I truly did not expect for it to work as well as it does. It's just that the plastic on the camera is very cheap; but then again the price was cheap. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

2 out of 5 eggsGS8000L Vehicle Camera/Video Dash Cam

Pros: Product arrived quickly, Video capture and playback quality is good

Cons: Use is not intuitive and instruction manual is virtually useless due to EXTREMELY small (i.e. characters are 1/16") font. Diagrams are unreadable without magnifying glass. After finally locating buttons from description, they are labeled differently on device. (ex. OK is labeled REC) When mounted on windshield the power input is awkwardly located on top of the device rather than bottom. Battery life is almost non-existent. After hours of charging It never indicates full charge and discharges within 10 minutes. Power, REC, Menu and Mode buttons are relatively easy to depress due to being on corner of device. Up arrow button more responsive than down arrow button and both require fingernails to operate. TF card definitely requires fingernails to complete insertion. Instructions indicate up to 32GB TF card but no mention of Class. The first card I tried wasn't recognized.

Other Thoughts: This is a toy at best. For more than 10 minutes of use it has to be plugged to car 12V socket or via USB to computer.
Don't waste your time or money except for the novelty.
