Other Thoughts: At first it was not doing a good job. After I register this product and did an update the scanner works great I use it every day and it has helped solved a lot of car problems. I have other scanners, different brands, this compact lightweight easy to carry scanner is becoming my main car scanning tool

New Vehicles have a large number of computers and modules that require the assistance of a scanner like this one. One year warranty and 1 year of updates. full auto scan of all modules

Other Thoughts: small easy to store, easy to carry, easy to use. This is a compact scanner for the beginner as well as the advanced mechanic. cool engine oil reset function. After updates I will use it more and write a third review.

Pros: It has the option to run a full scan so where u can automatically find an error that might be ocurring somewhere in the electrical system of one or more of the various systems in ur car. It is low priced. It is very easy to use. It supports many of 1996 to somewhere near 2012 and 2013 model year vehicles. Very small and compact for easy carry and handling.

Cons: the software seem to be glitchy. The voltages and values seem to be reported a little off of what I am use to see. The software can trow u off track from a succesful repair. The refresh rates are very slow and choppy for the various sensors on graphing format. Its difficult to make a decision to replace or not replace an airflow sensor by looking at the reported voltage.

Other Thoughts: AUTEL products seem to have a lot of glitches.
Ive use several of their scanners and I think no more.
Buy this product at your own risk. I fall asleep trying to diagnose vehicles with this item.
The other reviewer seem to have copied the specs from the manual. Use this item diagnose very difficult problems and tell me how it goes.

Pros: I have investigated Readers, Scanners, and Analysis Tools and have come to the following conclusions.


Three types of Devices
A. Readers-Will only Read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) generated by the Automotive Modules (Computers).
B. Scanners-Same functionality as Readers PLUS can read Live Data (Parameter Identifiers).
C. Analysis Tools-Same functionality as Scanners PLUS can test specific components (Bidirectional) and contains an extensive Knowledge Base with common repair procedures (articles, videos).


Automobiles can have any number of Modules (aka Computers) most have...
1. Engine Control Module (ECM)
2. Transmission Control Module (TCM)
3. Anti-Lock Braking System Control Module (ABS)
4. Supplemental Restraint System Control Module (SRS)


The Modules (aka Computers) are connected via the Common Area Network (CAN), which can be accessed through the Direct Link Connecter (DLC). The DCL Port is usually under the Driver's Side Dashboard.

2.Output Devices - Actuators (Motion generated by electric motor), Solenoids (Motion generated by electromagnetic field)


Two Types of Parameter Identifiers (PIDs)
1. Generic PIDs defined by On Board Diagnostic Generation 2 Standard (Defines the minimum PIDs that vehicles in North America must have).
2. Manufacturer PIDs - Some car manufactures go beyond the minimum and add there own.


The On Board Diagnostic Generation 2 (OBD2) Standard...
1. Defines the Mode Categories - Sensors (PIDs) that monitor the Powertrain (ECM and TCM) are labeled as Mode $01. Modes help organize all the PID Values so Readers, Scanners, and Analysis Tools can better organize the Data from the vehicle.
2. Defines the Monitors (aka Emission Diagnostic Routines)


Autel is a Chinese Company with a Unitied States Subsidary (http://www.autel.com/). After talking with Autel United States Subsidary Technical Support, I was told the the MD802 All Systems Device would be updatable from United States Subsidary Website (http://www.autel.com/). Be aware that a MD802 Four System Device also exists and this device would not be updatable from the United States Subsidary Website. I have purchased the MD802 All System Device and have been able to update it through the United States Subsidary Website.


Conclusion
For the Price ($249-$350) the MD802 has the largest Vehicle Coverage (can recognize European, North American, Asian vehicles due to the fact that it contains more Manufacturer PIDs). The MD802 communication protocol can access All Modules (ECM, TCM, ABS, SRS, plus others depends on vehicle).

Again for the Price ($249-$350) the MD802 can do so much more than other competitors (Innova, Actron) at the same price.

Cons: The MD802 All System comes with an 8 GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Card.

Be aware that the SDHC Cards come in various speeds which is why you will find a wide price range. If you get a slow SDHC Card your MD802 Device will be SLOW! I recommend you purchase the fastest SDHC Card you can afford.

One last thing I have found that their are counterfeits SDHC Cards out there so I recommend purchasing from a trusted Name Brand and Retailer.
