2 out of 5 eggsOne of the two still lives

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: Good price, good warranty.

Cons: Need to use the warranty after 6 months.

Other Thoughts: A pair of drives in a CentOS 6.5 system running software raid. After 6 months one drive simply died...invisible to the system. Hope the warranty process isn't too painful.

5 out of 5 eggs10,500 hours and counting (x4)

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: Temperature and vibration resistance personally tested A+
Drives are perfectly happy at 110F all day.
Fast throughput for a 5400 RPM drive.
Have survived hundreds of hours of subwoofer vibrations that buzz the whole desk.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I run four of these drives in RAID10 with a 64GB SSD cache in front of them. Although one WD Red failed very early, the replacement and original three have been rock solid since day one, 2 years and a few months so far.

4 out of 5 eggsFirst time WD Customer

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: These drives are really really quiet and don't give off a lot of heat unlike my previous discs from 4yrs ago. It's difficult to tell these drives are actually on and spinning. Perfect!

Cons: None that I know of yet.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: It is working nicely, quiet and fast. I will update if this does not continue to be so. I just got the drive and installed it so no reliability included in these 5 eggs.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Using win8.1 with Asrock MB. Used Disk Management to format drive, apparently it is shipped unformatted. I went to the WD website and used Acronis to clone my existing hard drive onto my new WD red. Changed boot priority and bingo! I had previously used Acronis years ago and could not get anything to work. They have improved this software vastly. Nice to be able to have a second bootable drive just in case. I might get a couple more of these to do the same with all the house computers.

5 out of 5 eggsWestern Digital Red 1TB

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: I've been running a pair of these 24/7 in RAID 1 with a SANS DIGITAL TR4UTBPN RAID enclosure for close to two years now with zero problems.

The enclosure is on top of my desk ~2 feet away and I can barely hear them.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsWD is Red Hot

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: These are some smooth operational drives. Sure one went DOA after just 10 minutes after loading Win 7 Pro, but i don't blame WD i blame Winstick 7 64 Bit RAID 1 for that problem because of the Downloads encountered when loading the drivers after CTRL-i function was finished and booting up the first time.
They are very fast and quite. No clicking or little ticks like a Seagate.
The 1TB is large enough for me and in RAID 1 Security mode and another as a Back-up for my files i have Zero Worries.
Will be buying a couple more in 2 weeks or so - just great drives to replace the 500gig'ers i have in another system.

Cons: No Egg off for a DOA it happens once in a Great While.

Other Thoughts: The Drive seems light, but don't they all. The connectors are pretty solid and don't wiggle and seem strong so they wont snap off like some other brand did i won't mention when fishing at the Sea.
Wish they could make coffee.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: Got three of these and threw them in a Synology NAS. I LOVE THEM. They run 24/7 and stay cool. In a RAID 0 setup, I'm able to pump full gigabit speeds. I've added dual link aggregation for the NAS on my network, and I've been able to pump around 200 megabytes per second maximum to various machines around the house.

They come with cool stickers.

Cons: I wish I had more money to get more of these things. I'll probably upgrade from this 1 TB model to put three of the 4TB model in my NAS in a few years.

5 out of 5 eggsBought 2. No problems.

This review is from: Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive WD10EFRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: I bought two 1TB of these for a NAS. After an extended SMART test, 0 sectors reallocated. Quiet, cool, little vibration, and very low power consumption. I needed a hard-drive that could keep up with 12hrs of heavy utilization, and not rack up the electric bill the other 12hrs of the day. These did just that task.

As for performance, I only know that the read speed is >120Megabytes/s and latency isn't higher than a typical HDD.

Cons: Was a little scared to buy this looking at the reviews around the internet on these drives. Perhaps, I just got lucky and received two working drives. Or maybe the trouble is yet to come. But the 3yr warranty does help ease the worries.

Other Thoughts: Well-packaged.
