MADE IN USA. The Taulman 618 Nylon Filament is a high strength, high durability nylon co-polymer filament. Prints as a bright white with a translucent surface, and can be colored with most common clothing dyes. It has been specifically engineered for 3D printing and comes in 1lb spools. The Taulman 618 nylon filament will not stick to glass or aluminum print tables. Best bonding is achieved at a true 245 celsius degree. Parts printed using Taulman 618 nylon filament will be instantly recognizable as high quality polymer with a visual and tactile surface quality second to none. The Taulman 618 nylon filament does not emit any dangerous fumes during printing and there are no odors at all from the 618 nylon filament. The Taulman 618 nylon filament is also chemically resistant to oils, acetone, alcohols, MEK resins, most alkalines, most 2 part casting compounds. Taulman 618 3D Printing material comes in 1 pound spools, packaged in an edge delivery spool 9" diameter x 1.75" thick (228mm x 44mm) for convenient mount and print. The leading end is tucked externally in the package tab. WARNING: We recommend using a Garolite print plate to help minimize warping of printed items. When using with the Afinia and Up! printers, we strongly recommend using the Octave Extruder Nozzle Temperature Switch so that the filament is extruded at the nominal, lower temperature, otherwise burning and brown spots may occur. Taulman 618 Nylon Filament is manufactured in the U.S.A. The Taulman 618 nylon filament has been reported to work without issues, on the following 3D printers: Afinia, UP!, Makerbot Replicator I, Makerbot Replicator II, Makerbot Replicator I Dual Ext, Makerbot Replicator II Dual Ext, PrintrBot, PrintrBot Plus, Ultimaker, TOM, Cupcake, CB Printer, MakeMendel, Rostock SeeMeCNC, Mendel, Lulzbot, The Future is 3D, Mendel Max, Makergear, RepRap, RepRap Pro, Rostock, Bits from Bites, Robot Factory.
Very stong, but still very difficult to work with.
This review is from: Taulman 3D 618 Natural Nylon Filament for 3D Printer 1.75mm 1lb Spool MADE IN USA
Pros: Very strong product. Not even in the same arena as ABS (I don't bother with PLA). Very flexible as well.
Cons: It's o strong and flexible, forget about support material. It is almost not removable. It also shrinks pretty hard, and doesn't stick to normal printing surfaces. Do your research, there are substrates that stick.
Other Thoughts: For the right part, this stuff is incredible.
