5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Speakers

Pros: +Tone Auto adjust, able to hear low sounds without adjusting volume
+Arcade / THX movie styled sound quality
+Magnetically shield

Cons: -price was more than I was planning on, but worth it.

Other Thoughts: I was looking to upgrade my 20 year old speakers, and wanted similar size with a headphone jack. This was one of the few that matched. I choose this over similar priced speakers because I dislike having to constantly change volume when I'm watching a movie where the scene is very quiet. These speakers solve that issue -I can also hear sounds I couldn't before, like the wind blowing in TF2 Big Rock Cave. I'm not used to a surround sound type speaker, it's very impressive. Sound is fuller, as if I'm in the center of the action. These speakers are excellently shielded, with less than 0.1 miliguas. I am glad I choose this over other speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful Out-of-the-box Experience

Pros: -High and Mid-Range tones are fantastic for the price, and tuned perfectly out-of-the-box imo
-The bass capability is a great match for the intended volume of a 2.0 PC system
-Good build quality, the volume knob has a nice firm feel
-Two 2.5mm inputs
-Clean minimalist design, they look great next to my UltraSharp U2414h

Cons: -$100 2.0 speakers made it really hard for me to pull the trigger (but I'm glad I did!)

Other Thoughts: As a college student, I'm constantly moving between small apartments with thin walls. With my previous 2.1 system I ALWAYS felt like the subwoofer was going to annoy the neighbors, even at the low-mid volume I generally prefer. The bulk also made it a huge burden when I had to move. In my opinion good consumer-level speakers shouldn't have Bass/Treble control, I used to drive myself nuts trying to get it right on speakers that were too cheap to ever make good sound. The BOSE speakers solved all of these problems. They're tuned beautifully out of the box, fit in a tight package, and produce satisfying bass without boiling the blood of your neighbors.

5 Stars for the Companion 2!

5 out of 5 eggsThese are very good speakers!

Pros: -They are BOSE, and good quality
- Decent Bass, and good overall sound
- Not that expensive really

Cons: - Wish it came with a white marker on volume knob (minor con)
- No other cons

Other Thoughts: You simply are not going to find desktop sperakers in this prive range as good as these. I was very imptressed out of thy ebox with no adjsutments. Great sound and decent (not super strong bnut decent) bass.

I use Nahimic Sound software and it really makes these speakers sound excellent. I love them, and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

The only compliant I have (and it's very minor), is that the volume control knob has an indentation, but its the same color as the knob (black). Hard to see in dim or low light. If it had a white line on it you could easily see how high you have the knob set. I solved the problem myself by cutting a sliver of a white sticker the exact size with an Exacto knife and putting it into slot. Fit perfect and looks like it came with it. It really is a lot better, and BOSE could have done this. But not a biggie and I fixed it in 10 minutes. I really like these speakers a lot and have been a BOSE fan for years. Worth it if you don't want to spend several hundred bucks on desktop speakers. These are the ones to get. And they look good too.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's BOSE

Pros: BOSE quality at a generic brand price. Just plug it in, turn it on, and immediately enjoy warm, full bodied bass, solid mid-range and sparkling highs.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have been an audiophile since the days of owning my first pair of pea-green Koss headphones. So, I know what sounds good. If you want to stick to a small budget and keep your desktop clean and neat; while not wasting a shelf on a subwoofer; AND have plush sound to go with your games and videos, buy these.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent

Pros: Just hooked them up and they sounded just fine- the built-in ports for low-note reproduction produced decent bass response- Beyond that the sound was clear -and audible with no distortion. f you have a decent sound card or relatively decent mobo -with a built in audio -you should be good to go.

Cons: none as yet.

Other Thoughts: I have Creatives Inspire p7800 90 7in1, which they stopped making . Best system Creative ever made. If you're looking for more of a home theater setup/ gaming -you're in for a tough search without spending mucho bucks or getting garbage for less.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Sound from Small Footprint!

Pros: Lots of Bass. Detailed and balanced sound. Small Footprint

Cons: Line-in cord is too short. Should be at least 6".

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a small set of speakers with big sound, and want to avoid buying a system that depends on a subwoofer the size of a small refrigerator, you will really like these speakers. I wanted to avoid a 2+1 system or a two-speaker system with bookshelf sized speakers without compromising on sound quality. These do the job. The speakers are about 3"x6"x8" each and put out enough volume to satisfy any listener within 10-15 feet without taking up all your desk space. Excellent bass and treble, balanced, and detailed sound of even the smallest of background sounds in a movie track. The on/off switch is built into the volume control. There is no power-on light, but I don't believe these speakers draw much, if any power without a line-in signal since they use the newer styled power adapter that doesn't draw phantom power. My only gripe is that the length of the line in cord between the speakers and PC is too short. It should be at least 6'. A really nice system at a great price.

5 out of 5 eggsNO NEED FOR A SUB WOOFER

Pros: ROCK STARS!!! These speakers are sick! These can get super loud in an apartment and might even disturb your neighbors, but for a house they are perfect! Amazing technology, quality and clarity, the only bottleneck will probably be your computers motherboard sound card. These are precision made speakers, the feel of the knob and the packaging materials are well crafted, I love the quality of sound on my high end studio recording equipment and the volume can get really loud, but clear and with out distortion, the bass is smooth and will make you groove, purchase these if you want the power of a 3 speaker system hidden inside two speakers, way to go BOSE!

Cons: $200.00 is not worth the price, but for $100.00 or less its a good buy!

Other Thoughts: Unless they are less then a Benjamin I would wait for a price alert to notify you, but I love em and my expectations have been exceeded. I was blown away at how something so tiny could sound so good. If you have never owned a BOSE product, I dare you to find a better quality brand name purchase for a such a simple two speaker based stereo system. I discovered they also work great as a separate set of speakers for your iPod, tablet, laptop, smart phone or for a professional business conference room presentation. I think its crazy that some of the other new egg reviews would knock this product for not sounding like a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound home theater. Shame on them, its utter nonsense to think that you can expect two speakers to sound like five, six or seven with a dedicated sub and amplifier. This product is designed to serve as a solution for simple sound, not a mind blowing experience. If you want surround sound buy THX certified pro-audio products because 50% of the experience is sound. If you want simple sound with great quality and crystal clear clarity buy BOSE. I plan to purchase another pair just in case they discontinue this product line. YES, they are that good! Marvelous & Spectacular Precision Made Instruments for the True Audiophile! I say "add to cart" because you will be glad you did!
