5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Very clear sounds, incredible bass from a 2.0 system, very clean look, control pod is great, saves space on desk!

Cons: A little pricey, no bass and treble controls

Other Thoughts: I bought these because I needed to save some space on my desk but still wanted a big sound from my sound system. Big sound from small speakers, now that is a tall order when it comes to computer speakers. But big things do come in small packages. For a 2.0 system, these speakers are VERY impressive. Multiple people have asked me where the sub is and were blown away when I told them there was none. The bass is lacking at times, but that isn't what speakers are all about. The clarity of the sound I get out of these is staggering. I hear instruments in my music I never knew were there in the first place. These speakers have far exceeded my expectations. If you are looking to save some space around your desk without sacrificing sound quality and have a little extra money in your pockets, then look no further. These things deliver!

5 out of 5 eggsBOSE Rocks!

Pros: I got this last week to replace my aging but still very nice sounding Companion 5 series. I set them up and was blown away by the great 2 channel sound. The high and mid sound rocks and the base was tight and not as throbbing as the companion 5; which has a nice base component. After listening to them for a few days and a lot of varying genre's of music and videos I packed my Companion 5's up and am now a happy listener to Bose's latest offering.

Cons: None to say of!

Other Thoughts: Only other thing is you get what you pay for! Bose Rocks!

3 out of 5 eggsNot Terrible

Pros: The music is clear up close, the sound is rich and full. These speakers are good if the only time you'll listen to them is if you are directly sitting in front of your computer. You can adjust the volume range quite a bit without audio distortion.

Cons: I owned these for a few hours and returned them immediately. As you move around the room, you'll notice the sound changes significantly. During the demo at the store, the base sounds rich and full without being overbearing. You get them home, and take a step back to listen to it and the base completely disappears. Great mid-range and high tones. Take a step over and the base weakly comes back while some other portion of the song goes away. I realize quality of what you are listening to is important, but I tried a variety of mp3's, cd's, segments of movies, etc. All with the same results. Mostly I listen while in front of the computer, but it's not uncommon for me to listen to music while doing a project in the house. These speakers were significantly inadequate for that task to me.

I don't have that much room on my desk. I liked that little volume pod at the store. When I got it out of the box, it was just in the way.

Other Thoughts: This was my first try at bose speakers. I was highly disappointed. Not only because how much they cost, but because of the overall quality of sound I expected wasn't there. They sound great up close, and again, I think they would make good close range speakers. However, I have a $30 pair of speakers I purchased about 8 years ago that the bose speakers were going to replace. Those $30 speakers fill the room. These Bose do not fill the room at all. Close range, sure, the Bose wins hands down. But in the end, keeping the Bose at my home office felt like a really expensive down grade.

I did consider keeping them anyway and using them at work, since I don't need to "fill the room" there. But it's absurd to pay so much to take them to work and likely have them stolen. So.. that's why I took them back.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent, but not worth price

Pros: -Great clear clean sound
-Clean professional look

Cons: -horrible mids and bass
-Not loud enough for the price

Other Thoughts: I feel like I paid mostly for the name, my wife bought me these for christmas since my Logitech Z-4 speakers had went out after 4 years. I returned the Bose 2 days later and purchased the Logitech Z623. SUPER happy with the Logitechs over the BOSE. It is a 2.1 system instead of a 2.0 for only 30$ more... I feel bose has dropped in quality over the years and Logitech has never done me wrong.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than average

Pros: Good speakers for their size; very good frequency response range and clarity; enough power to fill a small living room.

For watching movies: clear voice presence, good bass response for some explosion effects in a small room. For classical music: clear presence of all instruments. For popular music bass may be a bit overemphasized and uneven.

Much better design than typical black plastic mass production.

Cons: On my pair, there are some unpleasant peaks at the lower frequencies. Playing Pink Floyd's "Sings of Life" from "Momentary Lapse of Reason", the low bass notes from 1:30 to 2:20 are all different: sometimes barely heard sometimes overemphasized and unpleasantly interfering with the rest. Yet, I wouldn't even hear such notes on an average 2-speaker system, so it's not bad, considering.

Came with a bad input connector or included cable: crackling sounds when cable or connector are moved; sometimes one speaker loses sound when the cable is touched.

Too many cables coming to the desk and on the desk. The power supply is an external brick. I wouldn't mind slightly larger speakers and integrated power supply.

Minor... the touch on/off is both good and bad: I switched the sound inadvertently several times by accidentally touching the knob.

The volume knob should have a notch to indicate its position.

Other Thoughts: For the price this should be more perfect: no cable/connector defects. The bass response should be more even, without peaks. The cables are a nuisance, Bose should have thought more about this.

I didn't mind a cheap audio system for years, mostly listening to music in good quality headphones. Bought this one after being impressed by the sound of a couple of specially selected clips in a brick and mortar store. But now it made me want to upgrade to a real good large speaker system. Probably will still keep this one for another room.

5 out of 5 eggsBose engineering for your PC

Pros: Ok now I was skeptical about the price of this unit. I mean there are tons of 5.1 speaker systems out there and maybe 7.1 for computers for less. Well as you know Bose puts tons of research into their speakers so I wanted to read up on this before I bought into it. Only two reviewers here both rated it highly so I took a chance at this price. Delivery was great no damages on the box and it was fast thanks NewEgg. After getting it set up with an MP3 player to test audio boy was I in for a suprise. These things put out bass from such a small enclosure. The Mids are just right, bass is loud but not overly distracting and nausiating, the highs are great but not overly piercing. There is a very well balance from Low to High, don't expect these to have very high Treble since it is a single driver wave guide technology unit. The DSP has great separation in the audio and gives a nice presence to the sound. Nice puck style volume control and separate headphone jack and aux jacks.

Cons: Would be nice if they added separate bass and treble controls to the unit to allow for better balance at times when you don't want the bass. They don't make it in black, but that's not a deal breaker. The price is a bit high but it's a bose and you know your getting great quality and research into the product. One thing I did notice though is that the input audio level is quite low, you have to have your pc volume control cranked up so you don't have to have the volume of the unit at half and still have very low volume. All in all there isn't much I can say as a con about this product except the price.

Other Thoughts: Don't look for a power button there isn't one, I figured this out myself. As you know not many of us reach for the manual and read it before setup. Well it turns out that there isn't a on off button, the center hub of the volume puck control is the on off switch. It is a touch sensitive device so you just tap and it turns off or mutes the unit. I don't believe this is an actual off state since it seems to be mentioned as a mute control.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible Speakers for Their Size

Pros: Amazing speakers. The sounds quality is excellent (no surprise there, they're Bose...), but for the size of the speakers, the bass in these things is serious. These speakers pack about as much punch as a boombox, if not more.
Considering they are computer speakers, I am more than pleased with these speakers.

Cons: NONE.

Other Thoughts: Comes with a 3.5mm audio cable for your input device! Woop! Bose <3
