The Aironet 1250 Series Access Point with one RM1252 radio module installed requires 12.95W, which is within the 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard. Any Cisco switch supporting 802.3af may be used to power the Aironet 1250 Series Access Point with one RM1252 radio module installed. This is ideal for businesses that chose to only deploy on a single frequency (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). A single radio provides optimum performance with approximately 300 Mbps maximum PHY data rate. Customers who deploy dual-band, 802.11n radios and power the 1250 Series using standard 802.3af will have more reliable and predictable coverage than that provided by traditional 802.11a/g networks; however, operation will be limited to a single transmitter per radio with maximum PHY data rates of 150 Mbps instead of 300 Mbps per radio. Customers with a significant investment in 802.11 a/b/g client devices that have low-to-medium bandwidth needs but high-reliability requirements will benefit the most from this type of deployment scenario.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Equipment

Pros: This is a solid access point, with a case made of high-quality aluminum.
Modular construction allows for upgrades and modification of specifications.
Two radios, with three external antennas each, create a very robust wireless environment.
*Real* Cisco hardware.

Cons: Initial cost
Possibly higher learning curve

Other Thoughts: Definitely the largest and heaviest AP I've handled, but in this case, weight = quality!
This unit may be much more expensive than a lot of other APs on the market, but take a look at the hardware, firmware, and environmental specs.

I have two of these units mounted to the inside of the roof in a non air conditioned shop. Operating temps. easily exceed 130 Deg. F. Two consumer units died after a few months, while these APs have been performing for over a year with no downtime.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Great Cisco product

Pros: If you know ios then this should be no problem, fairly easy to configure.
Very solid build, perfect for a warehouse environment.
The range on these are excellent a lot better than th 1242's.
If you can afford this get it, we were considering 1242's to save some money but these have far better range. (tested both 1242 & 1252).

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: FYI, You only get the following items with this particular package:

*The Access Point.
*Mounting bracket with screws.

So you will have to purchase an antenna and a power supply (power injector or PoE switch).
