Every element of the compact and powerful Dynamo 500 is meticulously designed to deliver a staggering low-frequency performance - bass extension, power, and detail - at an extremely affordable price. Perfect for either home theater or stereo applications, the Dynamo 500 is solidly built with high-density materials to minimize cabinet resonance and provide a foundation for the high-output 10-inch woofer and high-current 120-watt RMS, 360-watt peak amplifier. Additionally, dual rear-mounted low-turbulence ports maximize bass output while minimizing port induced distortions.

  • newegg 10-Inch Low-Distortion Woofer Dynamo 500's high-resolution driver combines a 10-inch polypropylene cone with a high-intensity magnet structure to achieve huge excursion and output capability without sacrificing detail. By eliminating cone flexure, even at long voice-coil excursions, Dynamo 500's advanced-technology bass driver achieves the very low distortion necessary for proper blending with MartinLogan ATF (Advanced Thin Film) and electrostatic speakers.
  • newegg 120-watt (360-watt peak) Amplifier Dynamo 500's amplifier belongs to a recently-developed class of switch-mode designs that incorporate a variety of innovative techniques to reduce noise, distortion, and heat to the lowest possible levels. In particular, the switching frequency is much higher than in typical subwoofer amplifiers of this type, providing a tremendous true 120 watts continuously with extremely low distortion.
  • newegg Dual Low-Turbulence Ports Ports are a convenient and cost-effective way of increasing low-frequency output. Dynamo 500's dual low-turbulence ports are carefully designed to provide superb low-end efficiency while minimizing port induced distortion.
  • newegg High-Density Cabinet Construction Dynamo 500's high-density cabinet is carefully designed to minimize cabinet-induced resonances and provide an ideal baffle for linear operation of Dynamo 500's long-excursion 10-inch low-distortion woofer.
  • newegg Seamless System Integration: Engineered for Stereo and Home Theater Dynamo 500's connections and controls are designed to enable easy, seamless integration with any stereo music or multi-channel home theater system. Its main left and right line-level inputs feed into a precision low-pass filter with a cutoff frequency variable from 50 to 200Hz. For systems in which a surround processor supplies the crossover, Dynamo 500 provides an LFE input low-pass filter switch that completely bypasses its internal filters.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Sub, Doesn't Last

Pros: Loud, deep, cheap (got it on sale)

Cons: Lasted me about one year, then it started making loud popping noises randomly, turning off then back on again, and now it just doesn't turn on at all.

Other Thoughts: If this sub didn't die on me it'd be more like a 4/5 product, but I just can't recommend it with so many people having the same issue.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk that wont last

Pros: It looks nice.

Cons: Like others have stated you need to turn this way down to make it useable or else its worthless. After about a year my sub stated failing to turn on. Then came random thumps in the middle of the night. Now it’s just a big brick. Even though it was on sale for $200 it still wasn’t worth it in the long run.

2 out of 5 eggsSomewhat Disappointed

Pros: Added more dimension to my existing (non-sub) setup.

Cons: Very loose and lots of distortion at higher volumes.

Inconsistent bass.

Other Thoughts: I've had this for a few weeks now and have been disappointed. I've tried several different sub placements to try to improve the quality and have also tried different tuning (level/crossover/phase) and still have similar results. Inconsistent bass. Certain notes are great, but quickly distorts during various movie scenes. If i had to do it again, I'd probably go with a non-ported enclosure (I agree with the previous review about port noise/distortion).

The sub output for music is more acceptable, but still doesn't provide the bass consistency I'm looking for.

For what I paid on sale at newegg, I'll keep it, but I'm looking for something more.

1 out of 5 eggsdynamo 500

Pros: A good low end sub, but what would you think your getting for the price. This unit provides good low end body at reasonable levels but has quite a bit of port noise.

Cons: I was very disappointed. This sub has so much vent noise it drives me crazy. You have to turn the bass way down and that takes all the fun out of a good movie, or some of your favorite music. Higher max wattage would've been nice. I'm still having trouble with the port puffing sound sometimes. Doesn't hit very low frequencies. Definitely has it's limits. Wouldn't set the volume control much higher that half way or it just becomes a distorted mess

Other Thoughts: got this sub at another store since newegg was oos. If you are looking for transparent low end punch step up to a higher end sub. I'm no audiophile, but i'm sure there are better subwoofers out there at this price

1 out of 5 eggsunhappy

Pros: nice looking subwoofer

Cons: I recently purchased two motion 12 speakers, one motion 8 center, and two motion 4 speakers. I also purchased the dynamo 500 sub. I am extremely satisfied with all the speakers except the sub. It pops when it turns itself off or goes into sleep mode. I was told by Martin Logan this is normal, but i find it annoying on a $500.00 sub. The sound comes out muffled. The sound quality is great for frequencies down to about 40Hz. Below that, the limited power/excursion and probably tuning causes the sub to really struggle to hit the really low bass notes

Other Thoughts: not really high end sub IMHO. worth $199, maybe
