Around-Ear Hi-fi Headphone

Great sound doesn't have to cost a fortune. These comfortable, lightweight, supra-aural headphones provide dynamic audio with crisp bass and good external noise attenuation without breaking the bank.

For affordable, powerful stereo sound, you can't beat these earphones from Sennheiser! The HD201 gives out wonderful earth-shaking bass and fabulous tenor for rich, pure sound! Designed for comfort, the padded ear cups and headband are balanced for your head.

The ambient noise attenuation means hearing only what you want to hear, without being bothered by the fighting neighbors or the passing outside traffic. The long cord ends with a gold plated 1/8in. (3.5mm) jack, to connect you with your computer or your favorite music source. An adapter is included, that takes the jack up to a 1/4in. (6.3mm), for your larger gear.

4 out of 5 eggsGood while they last

Pros: I have had to replace these a few times over the years but for the price the sound is quite worth it.

Cons: Don't last a long as I think they should had to take one egg off for that

5 out of 5 eggsGreat pair of affordable headphones

Pros: I really like these. I've been a fan of Sennheisers for literally decades, and these don't disappoint. They're comfortable to wear and sound really excellent to my (admittedly aged) ears -- very crisp sound. The long 3-meter cord is very convenient for when I'm listening to the TV from across the room.

I spent a lot of time looking at headphones before I bought these. Very happy with them.

Cons: I have relatively large ears, and it would be nice if the earcuffs were maybe a few millimeters larger, but that's literally splitting hairs :-)

Other Thoughts: These go on sale periodically. You might want to wait for the sale price if you're looking for a super-good value. I paid twenty plus ten for my pair.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Set of Headphones

Pros: Good sound, fit's over the ears, comfortable. I use these all day long and my ears don't hurt like on the ear kinds do. I listen to them using my smartphone (mostly pods casts) and they are great.

Cons: Cord is really long but I just keep it bundled up near the jack. My phone uses the cord as a FM antenna and for some reason the signal comes in fuzzy. Haven't tried other headphones yes cause it's a new phone.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Budget Headphones

Pros: - Lightweight
- Relatively comfortable
- Excellent sound*
- Plenty of cord*
- Pretty cheap
- Some separation from environment*

Cons: - Mildly cheap feeling, not extremely sturdy*
- Mild discomfort depending on ear shape when you first wear them*
- Bass, while audible, is not exceptionally powerful*

Other Thoughts: Overall, these headphones are pretty awesome, especially for the price. I've definitely used better headphones, but comparing these to a set of studio-quality headphones doesn't seem too fair. :P

These headphones do well in what I consider to be the most two important aspects of headphones - comfort and sound quality. They're lightweight, they have ample padding, and they rest around your head gently, but firmly. Depending on the shape of your ears, they may rub against the inner part of the ear cup which can cause a bit of discomfort upon first donning the headphones, but it quickly becomes something that you do not notice and is a tiny complaint all in all. The sound of the HD 201 is also great, and as Sennheiser says, they do a good job of not coloring the sound and helping you to hear it all. The full range sounds pretty good and well balanced between lows, mids, and high, but it is worth noting that the bass is not exceptionally powerful. It is DEFINITELY still audible and you never feel like it isn't there, but it could be a bit more prominent (depending on the kind of music you're listening to) and it would be a good thing. The headphones also do a bit to help isolate you from your surroundings and your surrounding from you. This isolation isn't exceptional, though, and I feel the real culprit hear is that the headphones don't really "press" against your head that much. They stay on, but they don't really "seal" per se, and this is probably a big reason for the less than amazing bass as well.

As for the physical construction of the headphones, they're solid enough. They don't feel extremely durable, though I wouldn't think they'd break TOO easily unless you tried to break them. They have quite a bit of cable attached, but no way to manage it (which would've been a nice addition to have one of those cable wrap clips included). There is an included adapter for 1/4" audio outputs, which is a nice touch.

Overall, these make a great set of lightweight travel headphones that still sound good. I've never liked earbuds, and most travel headphones either sound terrible, are uncomfortable, or are a bit difficult to carry around for whatever reason. These, however, are relatively small, lightweight, and are comfortable, yet they still manage to have great sound. Definitely worth picking up if you need new headphones or want some better ones without breaking bank.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for new users

Pros: The 9 foot cord is nice for mobility (although there are bluetooth earbuds and headphones at a similar price point). The ear cups fit my ears and head well, also the swivel mounts on the speakers are nice too.

Cons: The cord broke after the first week and needs to be wiggled at the end of the cord so that you can hear anything

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible sound

Pros: Crystal Clear, long lasting, dependable, sturdy, long cord, gets loud, tons of range, realistic representation of sound.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I've used these for a long time now and I have zero complaints. I received a pair of $300+ (most popular current headphones) as a gift and these are so much more accurate. Also, those other brand headphones died, required batteries, and the cables kept going out. The Sennheiser HD 201's Sound like MUCH more expensive headphones. I have them connected to my recording rig through a powered interface and they stay crystal clear to levels I wouldn't dare listen to for risk of hearing damage. I have since recommended them to many people, all of who are totally happy with these wonderful headphones.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Sounding Headphones Ever

Pros: They feel good on your head.
Sturdy construction.

Cons: Mine sounded terrible connected to any audio devices I chose. If you're an audiophile then pass on these!!

Other Thoughts: With all the positive reviews that I read I had semi high hopes that this would be a decent replacement. Plugging them into my HTC Thunderbolt, HTC One, Hisense Sero 7, HP G7 Laptop, Home & Work PC's and even my RCA 5.1 Surround Sound setup (which would have more clean power to send).. it just didn't make any difference. The sound quality was just bad. Almost like the speakers weren't getting enough juice. Very disappointed... matter of fact I tried to give these away to my coworkers at work and they still sit in the common area! That's how bad these are!! No one even wants these for free!! Save your money and look for the Rosewill RHTS-12005. For the same price..those rock!
