5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Works as advertised, full gigabit speeds. I have three of these in an old dell that runs as my home router. I have transferred terabytes of data over these cards and they work flawlessly.

Cons: gets slightly hot.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap
Works with VMWare ESXI server 5.1 out of the box.

Cons: I need more of these and that empties my wallet.

1 out of 5 eggsCrashes my vista 64-bit

Pros: cheap

Cons: crashes the computer during hi-speed xfer

Other Thoughts: I bought this to speed up the xfer rate between my inspiron 550 (running vista 64-bit) and my NAS. Smaller files xfered ok, large files will crash the system --blue screen, self-reboot (some kind of buffer overflow??).

Disable it, use another and my system hasn't rebooted since!!!

1 out of 5 eggsOccassionally Disconnects

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Disconnects from Internet occassionally while I'm using it - maybe once a day.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the price no matter how cheap if it won't maintain a consistent connection.

1 out of 5 eggsworked only for 30 hours

Pros: low price, seems to be all I need

Cons: worked onnly for about 30 hours

Other Thoughts: Installed it to the XP machine on Saturday. Tested; worked wonderful. Next day was continuously going on and off on itself. Was dead completely by next morning. Had to switch back to my old 10/100 card to proof. So I’m back to 100 speed again. Thanks.

5 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is.

Pros: I chose this card over a bunch of others because it's based on a Realtek RTL8169SC chip, which is very common, has been around for a while, has great Linux support, and it was cheap. Didn't care about brand, only the chip and price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have a system running ubuntu server 12.04 and needed gigabit lan to speed up file transfers, and this did the trick. Speed is now only limited by my IDE/PATA drives, which are not exactly "fast" by today's standards...

Not bad considering this is the only thing I had to buy for the build, and the rest of the system is from stuff I had sitting on a shelf for ages. Works beautifully.

5 out of 5 eggslow cost and works with win7 x32

Pros: $9 nic - check
gigabit - check
PCI standard - check
standard realtek chipset design - check
win 7 x32 autodetects drivers - check
win 7 update auto gets latest drivers - check
works - check

Does not get much better than that.

Win 7 had no issues auto detecting and installing the drivers. Then I did a windows update and it updated to the latest realtek drivers.

I put this into my wifes Dell E510 (2006) that has a working Intel 100/Pro on the motherboard. I needed the faster network speed after moving this machine to a home network based backup solution (entire home is gigabit/cat6 wired). This card works perfectly in that old dell and no conflicts with the existing network chip on the motherboard (that is no longer used)

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsSpend a few extra dollars

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Cheap

Other Thoughts: Worked for 4 days before quitting. No lights on outlet when LAN cable inserted. Re-seated CCA... nothing. DEAD. Spend a few more bucks and get something that lasts at least a week.
