3 out of 5 eggsSeemed good, then it died

This review is from: Antec HCP Platinum HCP-1000 1000W ATX12V V2.32 / EPS12V V2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: It was quiet, seemed to run well. The specs are great.

Cons: It lasted about two months. Then it started having power delivery problems and pumped out quite a bit of heat before eventually deciding to stop working.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Antec HCP Platinum HCP-1000 1000W ATX12V V2.32 / EPS12V V2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Really easy to work with. Above all else, the fully modular design is a major bonus. In the not too distant future, there will be young adults building computers with nothing but modular PSU's, and I'll get to say "Back in my day, we had to keep the extra cables attached."

Stable. Wickedly stable. That really is the goal of a PSU; to keep the computer stable under load, and this one does it. Has no issues with running hot, and holds an overclocked FX 8000 at 4.2 GHz, 32 GB of 2133 RAM, dual AMD 7950's, and a whole mess of fans and HDD's with no stability issues at all.

Cons: Would be nice if it was easier to find extra cables online. The one problem with modular PSU's is that you can lose a cable or two. I haven't had an issue yet, but I know some day I will.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat PSU!

This review is from: Antec HCP Platinum HCP-1000 1000W ATX12V V2.32 / EPS12V V2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: absolutely great PSU from Antec. (via Delta - this thing is quality)

Installs easily, the fully modular cabling is a dream to work with. No complaints at all.

Will easily handle the high power needs of an overclocked CPU and multiple gpus in crossfire/SLI.

The price is easily warranted - you get what you pay for in a PSU, you want quality to protect the rest of your system.

Cons: none at all

1 out of 5 eggsDIed in thirty seconds

This review is from: Antec HCP Platinum HCP-1000 1000W ATX12V V2.32 / EPS12V V2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Nice paint job.

Cons: Plugged in and checked everything three times. Flipped the big switch and the fans started to whirl and my pulse quickened and then it was POP and goodbye. Always have used Antec PSU's before. Took a five year old one out of my current build and plugged it into the new build and flipped the big switch and everything booted just fine. Ran new build with the 5 year old PSU for a week. Took out the 5 year old PSU, put in the new Antec and zip. Been reading a lot of reviews regarding Antec - it appears just based on reviews that their quality is now DOA. Read them here and other places. I loved Antec PSU's, but sadly it appears it is now more important to have glorious paint jobs and no quality control. For me, they get one more chance. If the replacement is DOA or shortly thereafter, I'll update this and kiss them goodbye. Been building computers since CPM (that's 1975 for you younger fellows) days. Sad when a quality company gives up. Buyer beware.

3 out of 5 eggsLasted a month

This review is from: Antec HCP Platinum HCP-1000 1000W ATX12V V2.32 / EPS12V V2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Worked great when it was still working. Very stable voltage delivery.

Cons: Died after a month. Worked perfectly until I powered my system off and moved it across my room.

Other Thoughts: I am getting standby power to the motherboard, but when i try to turn the system on, the power supply clicks and turns right back off. I have tried unplugging everything but the motherboard connectors, but the supply doesn't want to stay on. The system lights up for a fraction of a second then clicks right back off, then only standby power is being supplied because the logo on my motherboard is still lit. The system was solid for about a month while i was testing it, and I powered it off to move it across my room, and now its not working at all. Not too happy considering the price and that I'm 2 days past my 30day replacement window through Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent product by Antec!

This review is from: Antec HCP Platinum HCP-1000 1000W ATX12V V2.32 / EPS12V V2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: I love this powersupply - the arrangement of cables and the availability of cables upfront are reasons alone to make this power supply worthy. But it's a Platinum rating and so easy to install! You will not regret purchasing this bad boy. I've been a loyal fan of Antec products because quite simply: They work.

Cons: Nothing!

Other Thoughts: I've purchased close to 100 Antec PSUs in my life and only 2 had an issue. The first one was DOA and a snoozer to exchange with Newegg. The second: The power supply was 5 years old and I contacted Antec because I didn't thing it was out of warranty. But despite the fact it was out of warranty, they replaced it anyway! How about that - a company that isn't afraid to stand by their products! Antec user for life here.

Cons: Dead. DOA. It never worked. Failed two separate PSU tests.
