3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Works OK if you don't need anything but very basic typing.

Cons: - About the most complex key combination I could manage was ctrl+alt+delete
- Squirrelly with recognizing that keys are held down.
- Can't handle more than one key at once most times

Other Thoughts: Yes, I am aware of IBM Model Ms having 2KRO. I'm not using a Model M, I'm using an old Kinesis Essential, which will happily register as having as many keys pressed at once as I can manage to hit over PS/2

Now, I will note here that there is daisy chaining going on - The keyboard itself has an AT plug which is plugged into an AT to PS/2 adapter. This shouldn't be an issue; it's a passive adaption that doesn't require anything special, in fact you can cut an AT plug off and splice wires to a PS/2 connector in a pinch.

I have a PS/2 port on my own motherboard, so I know the keyboard works properly over PS/2 and supports far better than this will pass along. Plugged in via PS/2, the keyboard works great.

Over this... Well. It won't register more than two keys at a time except for ctrl+alt+delete, it doesn't like to recognize that keys are held down until you hit them twice, forget even the most basic of gaming.

This is somewhat of a problem, as my dad can only use ergonomic keyboards due to RSI, and my dad's computer does not have a PS/2 port. I was hoping to adapt the one I have, and pass it along to my dad, but this is not at all going to work for dad's needs with this thing.

Now if you have only the most basic of typing needs, this should work great. But if you do anything more than that, it's just not going to work.

I'm still giving it three stars because honestly the technology in general seems iffy, with many adapters not even working at all. I'll give this one some slack because it does actually work, it just doesn't work in a way useful to me.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works as advertised

Cons: none found yet

Other Thoughts: I just plugged this in to a PS2 KVM tray that I got from a datacenter liquidation. For some reason, I didn't really expect it to work. Turns out it works great. As soon as I plugged it in, the OS recognized it. It even works in the BIOS. Unplugging/replugging in does not seem to require a reboot for the OS to recognize. Glad I went with the more expensive brand name in this case.

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect PS/2 KVM Solution

Pros: Works with PS/2 KVM Switches but you may need an additional Male to Male cable or adapter. Quality build.

Cons: Would have been nice if they included 2 Male to Male PS/2 adapters for KVM connection.

Other Thoughts: After trying a few other adapters with no success it was nice to find one that actually works. I have an older PS/2 KVM Switch but one of the PC's I have connected doesn't have PS/2 inputs. This Adapter allows me to connect the keyboard and mouse outputs of the KVM to the newer PC via a single USB connection. The only small snag is that most KVM's will have Female connectors for the keyboard and mouse as does this adaptor because it's really designed to plug the keyboard and mouse (Male connectors) directly into the adaptor so I had to use 2 short Male to Male PS/2 cables to go from the KVM to this Adapter. Not a big issue for me since I had the cables already. I still gave it 5 eggs because it was so nice to connect an adapter that actually works after trying many that didn't.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent! It works with my KVM switch!

Pros: This is excellent! I've tried other USB-PS2 adapters, and this is the only one that works with my KVM switch! I love it!

Cons: The cables are longer than I'd like, but I can live with that.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Well-made. It's a simple item. It SHOULD work. Not all brands do.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Finding an adapter that works is often hit or miss. If your keyboard or mouse is USB but originally came with an adapter plug, you stand a better chance of success. My trackball is USB and did not come with an adapter. I got a USB-PS2 plug to connect it to my KVM switch. It worked in the computer that had two PS2 connectors. The first adapter I got for the other computer worked, so I didn't even know how lucky I was. I don't even remember what brand it is. When I upgraded both computers and need another adapter, I went through three brands before I got this one. It is noticeably better-made than the others.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Unlike many other ps/2-usb converters, this one works, and works well with a genuine IBM PS/2 mouse (yes, its old) and a new Gigabyte motherboard.

Cons: Cord is long, but that is forgivable.

5 out of 5 eggsTripp Lite PS/2 Adapter.

Pros: Neweggs service, price and delivery. Decent cable, and it took care of a problem at boot with a new system.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: A build I did recently with a Intel Extreme Series DP45SG LGA 775 motherboard that would not enter the BIOS with a USB mouse, to set up before the OS was loaded. Used this cable in USB with a PS/2 keyboard. There are no PS/2 ports on the board. Board disc supplied the driver. Success!

5 out of 5 eggsA rare find! USB to PS2 that works!

Pros: There may be others that work, but this is the only brand I have found that consistently works with different brands of KVM, and without periodic replugging. I have purchased 5 of these after buying half a dozen other brands, and trying several more that others purchased.

Cons: None
