5 out of 5 eggsMemory works great on Acer One 722

This review is from: Crucial 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model CT102464BF160B

Pros: Memory arrived in a relatively easy to open package. I opened up the Acer One 722 and removed the 2 Gb module and then added the 8 Gb module and press F2 on startup. The BIOS registered the 8 Gb right away. In Windows 7 64-bit, I was able to see the 8 Gb of memory. I then run Memtest x86 and it passed without any issues.

The Acer One 722 was not any faster with the extra memory except when you run too many apps and it starts swapping to disk.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I picked the 1.35v because Acer 722 supported it and it may help with the battery life. Even though Acer One 722 only officially support 4 Gb, it appears to support 8 Gb (at least for the AMD C60 version).

This review is from: Crucial 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model CT102464BF160B

Pros: No failures of the dozens of these I've installed in various machines.

Cons: Sometimes can be pricey (though not lately.)

Other Thoughts: These are my go to for notebook memory upgrades, I've got several in Thinkpads, U430s, and a couple of MacBook Pros.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent DDR3L

This review is from: Crucial 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model CT102464BF160B

Pros: I purchased this RAM as an upgrade to HP's 15-G012DX laptop. Once the laptop was torn entirely apart (as there is no ready access door), the RAM installed very easily. I buttoned it all back up and and turned it on. My start time dropped from 30 seconds to less than 12, with POST averaging around 4 seconds. With the addition of this low volt RAM, the AMD A8-6410 APU that came with the laptop is now able to run many games at a reasonable fps in medium settings. 3DMark benchmark showed about a 25% increas in performance without tweaking the Radeon R5 graphics settings in Catalyst. So, all in all, I'd say that this upgrade was well beyond worth the low cost of this RAM.

Cons: None-- It runs cool, 3+ hours battery life on high performance in Win8.1, it remains stable no matter what I throw at it (within reason, it's only a 2.0Ghz APU in this laptop). I couldn't be happier.

Other Thoughts: This is a 1.35v RAM module, so anything that requires DDR3L would like this. If your device doesn't require low voltage, this will still work. It will run cooler and be less taxing on the system's power requirements.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

This review is from: Crucial 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model CT102464BF160B

Pros: Works very well. Immediately recognized by my Mac Mini 2012. You cannot argue that there is any better RAM made than a Crucial. Their quality control is what makes the difference. You may pay a little more at times for this brand, but better that, than a cheap brand that fails. I plan to buy a second to bring my mini up to 16 GB. This was cheaper to buy one for now and then add the second 8 gb later. Right now my mini is running 8gb x 2gb. And yes that does work.

Cons: Price is usually higher......but in this case you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: For those wondering if you can use this specific Ram model, note that Crucial makes specific model of RAM for Macs. From a moderator on the Crucial "... CT102464BF160B is a generic part and we would recommend the Mac part CT8G3S160BM over it. CT8G3S160BM is the part we have listed on our website. But, CT102464BF160B is a good alternative if that is the only part you can find from the supplier you are going with." http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Crucial-memory-for-Mac-systems/Can-I-use-CT102464BF160B-on-Mac-Mini-late-2012/td-p/161063

1 out of 5 eggsOut of Spec Modules - and they blame HP!

This review is from: Crucial 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Laptop Memory Model CT102464BF160B

Pros: Can't really say anything if it's built to not work.

Cons: Even though their memory has the correct spec, and works in an HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G1 with the back door open, they have made it too big to work with the door closed. The memory squeezes down and shorts the motherboard.

Crucial now claims on their website that the HP Folio 1040 G1 requires "Custom Memory" Here's the truth - It needs the RAM chips arranged in a single row - and not along the top of the DIMM. Double sided is fine as long as it's a single row. This IS a standard configuration.

The replacement Crucial sent to me did not include retail labeling like the package I sent to them. It didn't help that Crucial held-onto it for three weeks before sending a replacement. Now Newegg won't accept it back, and all Crucial will do is replace it with more memory that will not work in one of the most popular Ultrabooks on the market.

Newegg and Crucial have left me stuck with a $70 loss. Meanwhile I ordered another brand that is compatible from Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I exclusively use Crucial SSD's. I've bought over a dozen and for me they are the best on the Market. Still loyal to Crucial, I just wish somebody would own-up and help-out.

Crucial is well known company in this industry.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installed into Lenovo U530 which has only one memory slot. Works perfect as expected.
