1 out of 5 eggsPOOF - Game Over

Pros: Shuttle XS35 V3 version a bit slow but seemed stable even with the hideously sluggish weight of MS Windows 8.1 installed. I deleted all apple programs, began watching a movie and the next thing I know I am faced with the ominous blue screen & no lights on Shuttle. Tried different wall outlet, unplugging & replugging all power cords = nothing. I suppose <$200 for 20 mos. isn't awful. Still, most computers I've owned become obsolete before pooping out. This is the second shuttle product I've owned. Both were purchased through Newegg. I like the small footprint for use with TV.

Cons: 20 mos of light use & POOF blue screen of death.

1 out of 5 eggsConsider something else first.

Pros: Small, fanless design.

Blends well with everything else in the media cabinet.

Wireless range is good, not great.

Cons: Lackluster driver support. Attempting to install latest drivers for Windows 7 64-bit, software doesn't know what hardware it has exactly.

After the driver headaches subside, performance is less then desirable. Playback of HD content, (720p or better) results in considerable studdering of the footage. Many different media players and file types we're tried, so I doubt this is the problem.

Memory installed is the fastest, and largest capacity the unit can manage (4GB DDR 1333 running at 1066) so I'm also sure that is not the problem either.

I have installed a slim Blu-Ray combo drive, with the playback software included, the unit is incapable of Blu-Ray playback. After paying for/trying more then one piece of software to attempt to playback, I have concluded this is (at least in my case) not possible.

It's a shame I did not build this machine sooner. This unit has a 30 day return policy, If it was 60, or 90 days, I would be returning this unit now.

Other Thoughts: Better driver support would be paramount in this instance, I'm more then positive that this would be a great unit for an HTPC build, although at this time I can not/would not recommend this to anyone.
