4 out of 5 eggsQuiet, decent life expectency

This review is from: ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan

Pros: I found these to be silent; you have to look at them to make sure they're spinning. They're decently reliable, and they install/screw-tap easily. Airflow is also pretty good considering their silent operation.

Cons: I've had one of these become unbalanced after about 21,000 hours of operation (24/7 for at least 870 days). The second, installed at the same time is still running smooth. The cleanable aspect is a little nerve wracking; the blades do detach straight out but with a lot of force (tried it on the unbalanced one). I never cleaned mine, but I'd be worried about bending the unit while attempting to do so.

Other Thoughts: I bought four of these from a different shop, who has since stopped carrying them, and installed two as hard drive coolers in a home server, so they've been running 24/7 since the start of October 2012. I just replaced the one with two spares and will see if I get another 20K hours out of the spare.

5 out of 5 eggsA fan

This review is from: ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan

Pros: Spins, moves air, is not loud, is not expensive, its bearing should give it long life. No LED

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is a fan you buy, that does its job, doesn't cost TOO much, doesn't call attention to itself, and lasts long enough that you forget how long it was since you actually purchased it.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, if they work

This review is from: ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan

Pros: Very, very quiet; moves a good amount of air considering the noise level.

Cons: I ordered two and one of them was DOA. Someone in another review mentioned a similar thing. Make sure you check all of them right away, because 1/3-1/2 might not work...

Other Thoughts: If you want a very quiet fan that moves a bit of air, these are great, if the ones you get happen to work.

3 out of 5 eggsQuiet, but I bought 3 fans and one was defective

This review is from: ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan

Pros: They are very quiet and smooth running, as advertised.

There is an ample amount of power cord length to snake it around the case.

Cons: Check all your fans right away, as I bought three fans, and I just found that one is defective. The bearings in this one unit are defective, causing the fan to vibrate when rotating. The vibration is bad enough that you can feel it in the case and the fan makes audible sounds.

I was expecting better quality control from the number of positive reviews I read.

3 out of 5 eggsA little disappointed

This review is from: ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan

Pros: Cheap.
Moves air well for being 80mm.

Cons: Easily heard motor noise at all speeds.

Other Thoughts: I have had nothing but great experiences with other Enermax fans. This one is not up to par with those.
Maybe I got a dud. Over 600 reviews while retaining a 5 egg rating is a good indication of that.
The low price I paid for it makes it a no brainer on not paying shipping for RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsSilent.

This review is from: ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan

Pros: silent, moves air

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was surprised that I couldn't hear it at full blast. Then I was even more surprised when I felt how much air it was moving. I bought two "silent" fans, this one and one from another manufacturer. The Enermax put the other one to shame.
