5 out of 5 eggsPower to the moon

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's quiet and feeds my hungry motherboard nicely. Packaging is awesome. LOTS of room for expansion. I got it for like half off... and plan to SLI in the future. If you have big power needs, this will satisfy.

Cons: Packaging is awesome... although I'm not sure I need my PSU wrapped in a velvet bag.

Other Thoughts: This PSU is primo! Its very quiet and works well, can't really ask for more. It also comes with an awesome cable pouch / lunch box. With the cables you don't need, you can bundle them up in a drawer for future use. Take the gold pouch it came in and use it to hold your lunch! It will hold a water bottle, snacks and sandwiches quite well.

Pros: Awesome PSU from a great company, no surprises here; Seasonic is my go-to company, each and every time.
Got it for $100 with the daily deal; hard to beat that price.
Fixed my Event 41 error!!! x)
Stressed everything I could to get the fan on and couldn't push it hard enough.

Cons: Nothing at all.

Other Thoughts: Great shipping and packaging from NewEgg.
Over-spec'd for my use.

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: looks good

Cons: had it running just fine for 4 mo. bought it 7/31/14 didnt install it until 8/15/14 it's powering a R9 295X2 video card
after 3 mo. running on 11/3/14 it stoped working, fan dont run , no power output , dead power supply, not sure if warrenty will cover it are not , i dont think it had the power anyway to run R9295X2 and 2 water cooling pumps
8 fans , and lights ,1 ssd, 4 HDD , motherboard is Asus maximus VII formula 4x 8GB corsair dom GT

Other Thoughts: sad i had all wires single sleeved , hours of work and they probably will not work with the new power supply i have to buy now going to Enermax, are corsair

Manufacturer Response:

Hi John, sorry for the inconvenience of the RMA. Please contact our service at www.seasonicusa.com and they will help with the RMA processing. Please note, to connect the R9 VGA, please use single dediated PCIe cable per single PCIe power port so you will use 2 different cables to power the VGA. Thank you and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at newegg@seasonicus.com

1 out of 5 eggsSQUEALING NOISE! Earplugs or RMA?

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It is currently working.

Cons: Bought this to power 2 new MSI GTX 970s in SLI. Once I got the build back together, immediately noticed an intermittent, modulating squeal--sounded like a defective fan? I was sure it was one of the 4 fans on the new 970s. Unplugged each one at a time. Nope. Then left both disconnected, hit the power button to my rig and VIOLA! Squeal was still there. Yup, it's the Seasonic PSU. An irritating, super high pitched whine, like a fan bearing gone bad or I dunno--the pitch and volume change as the fan speed changes, I guess. (The squeal changes as I open and close windows, run games, etc. as the power use fluctuates, I guess?) Maybe it's not a fan? But it's working. What the H do I do now? Buy earplugs? Is it worth an RMA? Advice anyone? First time buyer of Seasonic here...Hmmm....

Other Thoughts: What the heck am I supposed to do if I RMA this and I have no PSU for the duration waiting for a replacement or whatever? Ugh.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Warren, thank you and sorry for the inconvenience of the RMA. Please contact our USA office to start the RMA process and possibly they can do a cross ship for you. As for the electrical noise, please enable all energy savings modes in your BIOS and this should resolve your issues. If you have any questions or issues, please contact me at newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid modular PSU

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Nice packaging, plenty of power adapters included, 1250W of power, worked great out of box (ordered two for two separate builds). Runs quiet.

Cons: Only thing that irked me was that the modular connections on the actual PSU for the motherboard and cpu power were a major pain to get to connect. It would take it as a fluke thing if it were one of them, but both I had a difficult time getting the connector to go into the PSU for those two cables. Other than that it was smooth sailing and so far so good.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Kevin, Thank you for your review of our product and I hope the unit will serve you well. In terms of the connector fitting, it might be a bit difficut for the first go to insert the connector as the fit can be snug and the pins tight. I will pass this issue to our PM at our HQ. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact me at: newegg@seasonicus.com Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsNO GOOD!

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This PSU had great packaging. It seemed like a solid build! Right out of the box, it powered my two R9 280x video cards just fine. Had no problems with it, voltages were inside the promised -/+3%.

Cons: After a while of use, this PSU fried a video card, I had to RMA that back, now that SAME video is fried again after repairs, I took a closer look, and it seems like my voltages are way off! With just one video card, my 12V is reading 11.994v idle in bios, in Windows, OCCT using HWMon shows 11.63. Under load (during stress testing) 12v rail dips down to 11.36v which is really far out of spec, the ripple caused damaged to my system. This power supply was great while it lasted, now it's just a giant paper weight to me.

Other Thoughts: I'd like a replacement, however, I don't want to deal with Seasonic's already "Sterling" reputation in the customer service world. Considering buying a different PSU.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Merlin, Sorry to read about your current issue. Please note, measured voltage dip can be due to the VGA's failiure and voltage dips will not damage components and at the same time, the PSU's protection circuits will shut down when the outputs are out of spec. As well, voltage measurements should be measured with a multimeter at the connectors and not by software as the software can have a few % in terms of measurement tolerance.
May I recommend that you send the unit to our service center in California and please let me know your RMA number so we can keep track of it to make sure it is service both properly and in a timely fashion. Thank you.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU, Horrible Customer Service, if it even exists!

This review is from: SeaSonic X-1250 ( SS-1250XM2 ) 1250W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I love the quality and build of this power supply. It also came with very nice packaging. It has worked great for close to a year.

Cons: Customer service appears to be non-existent, at least in North America. When I called their customer service, I have left a message and never received a call back. On my second and 3rd attempts, I received a mailbox is full message. When I called and hit 1 for sales, I got someone on the phone every time, but they would tell me to either email their customer service person or he would call me back, but never did.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this PSU about a year ago and a few weeks ago I started experiencing intermittent times when my PC would just shut off. I have an ASUS P8Z77-WS motherboard that I love and it has on-board LEDs that help troubleshoot problems. I have not found any problems with anything and believe the PSU is intermittently failing.

I would give this PSU 5 stars if the customer service was even average. But since it is so horrible, I will buy my next power supply from a good company that understands the importance of customer service.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mark, sorry for the inconvenience. For customer service, please kindly write to newegg@seasonicus.com or usa@seasonic.com and we will respond as soon as possible. We ask for e-mail for documentation purposes. Sorry for this inconvenience. As for your power supply having possible issues, intermitten shut off can be a number of factors, MB, PSU, short circuit or a combination of issues. Please visit seasonicusa.com and start the RMA procedure. We will have the unit tested for you as soon as it is received. Thank you.
