5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice System

Pros: The resolution on record is very good. Easy to set up and to understand. I highly recommend this system.
Look at specs. before buying cheaper systems.. you will be amazed at the difference in quality..

Cons: Night vision is much less that I expected... but it seems to reach out about 15 feet in absolute darkness... with any kind of quality.
The night vision is good enough for what a person will really need.... if you have even the smallest amount of surrounding light the cameras work really well at night

Other Thoughts: Great system ... don't be fooled by lower prices and more cameras... you get what you pay for....
Make sure you check resolutions of systems before you buy...

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding phone technical support

Pros: Quick setup, instructions provided were ok for internal veiwing, however somewhat confusing for viewing on the web.

Cons: The 50' claim on the night vision is a bit of a stretch. Win 7 64 bit not supported for remote viewing.

Other Thoughts: Phone support was outstanding. Was on hold for less than one minute. The rep spent time setting up my router for remote viewing and also gave me tips for setting up recording.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat system for the price!

Pros: We were getting vandalized at night in our driveway-mirror ripped off car etc. Set this up and was surprised
that Night vision is amazing from the cameras and with the motion detection setting, it does not hogg up HD space. I needed more than 50 feet of cable so I ordered Swann's fire-rated cable and it give great quality picture.

Cons: OK the fire-rated high quality cable cost me an extra $28 but I needed extra length and it provided a great picture day and night with no interference.

Other Thoughts: Set it up ourselves in about 4 hours, running cable for 4 cameras. I like that I can view the house anytime 24/7 from my iPhone or actually any smartphone.

4 out of 5 eggsNice DVR

Pros: Easy setup, good video quality in day as well as night. Pretty straight froward as far as setting up on the network.

Cons: Cables could be a bit longer

Other Thoughts: Don't understand comments about trouble with setting up on network. After hooking up a monitor and using included mouse, just gave the dvr an ip address and web port, then used IE 7 web browser to access DVR on the network. Just remember to port the port number at the end of the inside or outside ip address.

2 out of 5 eggsGood but documentation and software sucks

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: Installation software was corrupt. Very poor documentation. Motion detection doesn't seem to work as the cameras tend to go black when motion is detected and never records. Have to set up DVR in always record mode instead of record on motion detection.

Other Thoughts: Installation was so easy a caveman could have done it. The documentation, Swann download and knowledge base is completely useless. Was never able to setup the LAN. Should have gotten another brand.

2 out of 5 eggsJury still out

Pros: The resolution and clarity at night time is very good, very good storage even in HQ mode, fairly small dvr for features.

Cons: archaic interface makes setup difficult. Tried to find an update on their site - none, stuck with the limited feature set and commodore 64 interface. I wrapped my house with the extension cables but was 3ft too short - had ADT come out for security and he hooked me up with extentions. Had to cut the ends off the premade swanns to splice the power. The quality of their cable is horrible. The power wires are so thin I cannot even fathom what gauge they are. Also, just last night the dvr went bonkers and now I have to sent it back.

Other Thoughts: Good price if you can put up with some major feature/quality drawbacks.

4 out of 5 eggsProduct Review

Pros: Very easy to set up, everything you need is in the package, and very good quality video

Cons: Very hard to set up network interface (outside of a lan), poor instructions, bad web interface.

Other Thoughts: I am CCNA certified and I even had trouble setting up this system to work outside of an internal network
