The Profoto 50 Degrees Fabric Grid for Softbox (2x3 ft.) alters the shape and intensity of the light output from your softbox. All HR softboxes have a recessed front that allows you to attach a Softgrid. The Softgrid reduces the light spread to either 30° or 40° depending on which Softgrid you use. In other words, the Softgrid creates a more directed light and eliminates a large amount of spill light, allowing you to shape the light with even more precision. The Grids are essential accessories for any lighting system. A grid alters the shape and intensity of the light output from your softbox when it is mounted on a light head. Consider a grid as a painter would a brush, or a sculptor would a knife, or chisel. The spread of light will be determined by the density of the honeycomb mesh, and the distance of the subject from the light. Unless specified otherwise, a grid mounted on a softbox will limit the spread of light to 40° from the face of the softbox. Collapsible, portable, and extremely lightweight, fabric grids have no supporting frame of their own. These grids hook and loop to all sides of the recessed front area to provide a controlled beam spread. Once the job is complete, just detach, and fold it down to a fraction of its size and store it in the included fabric bag.
