Pros: If you just want to STORE your phone (and not use it), this case would probably do that pretty well.

Cons: Virtually unusable screen protector. Buttons are impossible to push. It attracts dirt and dust. The port protectors are so stiff they will damage the phone and accessories in no time.

Other Thoughts: I had a Trident Kraken AMS case for my iPhone 5 and I absolutely loved it. It was a great case, so I had no reservations in buying a Trident Kraken AMS case for my iPhone 6. Sadly, this isn’t even remotely the same quality of case. Obviously Trident has decided to rest on their laurels and switch to making this abysmal disappointment for a case.

One of the first things I noticed was the built-in screen protector. It is made of a very light-weight plastic (think of slightly thick Saran Wrap). It is nothing compared to the previous Kraken AMS’s screen protector. Not only is it thin, but it was poorly cut in the factory and the openings (especially around the front camera) are misaligned and showing signs of rough edges. The screen protector doesn’t fit snug against the iPhone’s screen and so ever press of the screen causes the protector to ripple and bulge. This makes it very difficult to type because letters are often missed. The poor quality screen protector is also evident when scrolling because you can clearly feel the cheap plastic rippling as you move up and down the screen. Finally the opening for the home button seems to attract large amounts of dust and the whole area under the protector near the home button is filthy (and I’m a very clean person and I’ve only had this thing 4 days).

The next issue is the rubber covers that protect the ports. On the previous Kraken AMS case these were made of a soft rubber. On this case they are made of a very-rigid, hard, plastic-like rubber. Opening the ports is quite difficult and the rubber is quite difficult to swing open. This is a particular concern because when charging the phone, the rubber cover exerts a tremendous amount of force on the lightning connector. I can see that it is bending it 2-3 degrees. I have no doubt this will eventually cause internal damage to the phone and/or lightning connector. The port for the headphones is even bigger and exerts more force. With prolonged use, this will certainly damage any headphone jack and the phone.

The port for the mute switch is far too small and too deep to be functional. Unless you have fingers the size of a 6 year old child’s, you’ll need to carry around a pointy object to reach into the opening to mute your phone.

Another big oversight is the material that the button covers (volume and power) are made from. This is most likely the same material as the rigid port covers. The result is buttons that are nearly impossible to push. Pushing the buttons requires an inordinate amount of force. Anyone with normal-strength in their hands will find these buttons completely unusable.

This case is a huge disappointment and should be avoided. The previous Kraken AMS case was a 2-part case and worked great for 2 years. This one is a molded, single-part case that was clearly made in the lowest-bidder Chinese factory for a company that no longer cares about quality or its customers.
