5 out of 5 eggsGreat product and price when I bought the wireless router with it

Pros: great reception better than Comcast leased router

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this modem with TP-LINK Archer C7 Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Router, 450Mbps on 2.4GHz + 1300Mbps on 5Ghz, 2 USB Ports, IPv6, Guest Network for $119.00 and I'm happy to not be paying Comcast the extra $10 a month for a refurbished product that is leased

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the trick

Pros: Called Time Warner provisioning to give them the MAC address to activate the modem on my account and stop paying for rental. In about 10 minutes I was up and running with superior download speeds and less buffering. Good inexpensive solution.

Cons: No, does what it claims - as advertised.

Other Thoughts: I have recommended to friends and clients alike.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product its a TP-LINK... sais it all

Pros: Had for 2 months, works great, easy set-up to issues. Small, stand up unit so doesn't take much space. TP-LINK... a quality product can't go wrong with one of these. =D

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsMy first cable modem

Pros: Easy to set up and get connected to Xfinity

Cons: Printing on the mac address sticker needs to be a larger font size.

Other Thoughts: Support at xfinity seemed to think that this had wifi on the modem, it does not. Got this as part of a combo deal with TP-Link wireless modem. The speeds are much faster than DSL.

5 out of 5 eggsTP-Link brings the value home with this modem

Pros: -Specs far above what I need and what I expect to need/want for many years to come
-Simple setup
-Default color = Black
-Runs warm, but shell is ventilated well enough (unless you put it in an enclosed space)
-2-year warranty, which is double the warranty period of the more expensive, competing product
-Helps you avoid paying lease fees
-Good history with TP-Link products, in general

Cons: Minor con: Status LEDs are actually brighter from the side as they are from the front

Other Thoughts: My review is from the angle of a power user in a 2-level home with a robust network with 15+ active wired nodes and 8+ wireless devices. I have had a D-Link DIR-868L Router & Motorola/ARRIS SURFboard SB6141 Cable modem in place since I switched to Xfinity/Comcast 50Mbps service in early 2014. It has been an extremely reliable setup and I had a bit of trepidation changing anything. We are all fairly heavy Internet utilizers, coupled with the fact that I work at home and have a home server/website utilized by a few hundred people a week, as part of the support function of my job. That usage grew from a few people each week, so upload speeds and reliability became far more important over the course of the last 2 years. As you may already know, this TP-Link TC-7610 costs about 35% less that the SB3141, which could mean either the Motorola is overpriced or it could mean that the Motorola is a better quality device – Only time will tell…
The switchover from the SB3141 to the TC-7610 was far simpler than I had anticipated. I had figured it would have to be done via phone, but was surprised to find that I could simply connect the coax cable to the new modem and then connect my laptop to the modem via the Ethernet connection. Note: I was logged into my Xfinity account with modem self-configuration start page open on my laptop before I began. Once the modem had powered up and made the connection to Xfinity, I simply stepped through the process and after a modem reboot, all was working perfectly. Internet test speeds are pretty much identical to the SB3141 and overall functionality seems to be identical. For wireless centralization, I have the modem & router on a shelf in the hallway above our washer & dryer. It also means that I look at it regularly as I walk by. Not being particularly fond of the mismatch of the white SB3141 and black router, I really like the fact that the TC-7610 matches the router. Of course, that doesn’t play into the rating of the device, more just to my OCD ;) As mentioned in the cons section, the front Status LEDs are actually brighter from the side (because of the vent holes) than they are from the front and since I have mine situated so that the side is facing the hall, it provides a nightlight effect. However, the overall brightness is still more subdued than the SB3141 status lights.
I give this device 5 out of 5 eggs without reservation. It is a great overall value, with the same specs and double the warranty of the competing product, yet costs 30-35% less.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal for $49.00

Pros: Received in 2 days with free Shoprunner Shipping. Called Time Warner to up the speed on my plan from 50Mbps to 100Mbps, and give them the MAC address to activate the modem on my account. In less that 15 minutes I was up and running, with download speeds of 118Mbps, and upload speeds of 11Mbps. Whats not to like?

Cons: Only problem I had was reading the MAC address on the bottom of the modem so I could activate it. Plenty of space for a larger label for those of us with age-challenged vision.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine on Comcast.

Pros: Plug and go.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure people should be down-rating a product because it "isn't supported by x cable company". You need to go to your cable company's website and find the list of supported modems. They will have one somewhere on their site. Then you pick something from the list. You can't just buy anything and expect it to work (in a perfect world, sure, but...).

This cable modem is on Comcast's list (as of 2015) and it works fine. I followed the simple instructions that came with the modem and had no issues. Within 5 minutes or so it was up and running and I haven't touched it since. That was over 6 months ago.

I don't have any trouble streaming Youtube HD or Netflix. My MMOs work fine.

Here's comcast's list of approved modems.

http://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/

There are cable modems that support even higher tier speeds, but if you are not subscribing to the extreme tiers there's no reason to pay extra for something you're not using. Just buy what you need.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat modem for a great price, fast set up

Pros: Like most cable modems, it's just plug in the coax cable and the ethernet cable, plug in the power and you're good to go. It was cheaper than most other modems.

Cons: It takes a little longer to connect than the RCA/Thompson DCM425 that was provided by Time Warner Cable, but it was a matter of seconds and not minutes. I usually don't have to restart my modem so it's not a deal breaker for me

Other Thoughts: This modem is on the approved list for customer purchased modems at Time Warner Cable. They have also made it easy to provision your own modem, you don't have to call anyone, it's done through the web browser. TWC modem rental fees went up to $10 in January 2016, so this modem will pay for itself in half a year, then you start saving money. Also, I received marginally better speeds from this modem than the TWC provided one, but it's really the cost savings that makes this modem worth it for me.

5 out of 5 eggsDecided not to go for the typical "other" modem and I'm happy

Pros: Price is slightly better but that was not the reason for the purchase, speed tests very high using Comcast and I'm promised 50Mbits but seem to be testing at 70. Up speed maxes at 6Mbits and this is the same as my previous, much older Doc 2 modem. Some reviews on other sites say it runs hot, mine does not. Buy it,

Cons: None so far
