1 out of 5 eggsDented chassis including misaligned parts and poor packing

Pros: The MacBook powered up and ran.

Cons: Packaging was poor. It looked like the Mac had shifted in the box. The power pack and cord were loose to bounce around in the box. Mac came with Leopard not Snow Leopard (I had to buy and upgrade separately). I've gotten refurbished laptops before and this one was in rather poor shape.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend buying from BuyCoolGadgets.

3 out of 5 eggsSpent more than anticipated but eventually satisfied

Pros: So far the hardware is strong and there doesn't seem to be any apparent weeknesses. The resolution (video) seems to be like new, no issues there. No scratches or dings. The item shipped and the tracking was easily accessible though the site and everything arrived very timely.

Cons: The advertised MacBook that I though I purchased was supposed to have Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard, but when I received it, it only had version 10.5.8. The advertised MS Office Student Edition that was advertised with the MacBook was not for a Mac, as it turns out it was for the Windows OS. I attempted to contact Newegg in order to get the difference in cost, but the person that I was chatting with was very eager to get me off of the phone and claimed she was not technical. I explained to her that it does not take a tech to understand when item A was purchased but B was delivered. By by the time I realized all of this, it (in my opinion) I was too far in the process of configuring it.

Other Thoughts: Since there were no hardware problems and I purchased a year of warranty coverage, I am keeping it, this time. I'm a little skiddish now, and I'm not sure if I can buy from this site again. This is the second time this has happened to be and my trust is not there anymore. I feel like I was fortunate that nothing else was wrong because I'm not sure of how it would have turned out.

It's a good thing I have an IT background because to resolve the issue with the MS Office (OS mix up), I purchased VMWare and loaded my XP VM that enabled my to run the MS Office (v 2010) that I'm assuming was supposed to be for the Mac OSX.

To resolve the issue with not having the MacBook preloaded with Mac OSX 10.6, I went ahead and purchased Snow Leopard (10.6) for $29.00. All total, I spent roughly $85 - 100 more than I would have liked to get the laptop to where newegg had advertised it to be. I don't know if there will be a next time...
