5 out of 5 eggsCRYORIG R1 Ultimate Dual Tower Heatsink for AMD/Intel CPU's

This review is from: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate Dual Tower Heatsink for AMD/Intel CPU's

Pros: Excellent Cooler. Load temp dropped 10 degrees C when rendering compare to the Thermalright 120 single tower. Idle also dropped 4 degrees C. It does not block the low profile rams and the top PCIx16 slot.. Fans are quiet up to 1000 rpm. Spins up to 1400 rpm when rendering and it becomes noisier (Wind noise). It is expected.
Highly recommended !!!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Very easy installation. Remove your video card and the middle fan for easier installation

5 out of 5 eggsCryorig R1 Ultimate

This review is from: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate Dual Tower Heatsink for AMD/Intel CPU's

Pros: -Moves tons of air
-Good color scheme
-Great packaging
-Design left room for low profile RAM in either pairs
-Quiet, QUIET, QUIET!!!

Cons: -Really, REALLY big. This wasn't an issue for case space as I'm running a CM HAF X, however, more on the "flimsiness" of the heatsink itself. This is my first time with a dual tower model, but to me, the heatsinks have a bit of bend to them I was not truly ready for.

Other Thoughts: Although I listed about the heatsink's flexibility in the cons, I don't see it as enough to take an egg away. I haven't had enough experience with dual tower coolers yet to know if this is a problem, but I do know one thing, it hasn't effected the noise quality this beast has. Great overall purchase!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Coooler

This review is from: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate Dual Tower Heatsink for AMD/Intel CPU's

Pros: I have to give credit where credit is due and the Cryorig definitely deserves it.The design is very aesthetically appealing a must for windowed cases.

Now to the performance. The temps I got with this cooler on my i7 4790k were amazing. It is over 15 degrees Celsius cooler than the stock Intel cooler. I was able to reach a 4.7 overclock using the NZXT H440 which is very restrictive on airflow.

It is fairly quiet also. You won't hear it idling, playing games or rendering.

Cons: The only con is that I thought the ultimate came in the white but that is the universal model. Wish they could have more color options.

Other Thoughts: The installation is a bit tricky I would suggest taking the middle fan off so you can align the screws.

If you are looking for a great cooler and want performance, style, and silence this is the cooler for you.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Heatsink

This review is from: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate Dual Tower Heatsink for AMD/Intel CPU's

Pros: I replaced thermalright hr-02 with this cryorig r1 heatink, the performance is better. I also find the noise level pretty good under load. I was running thermalright hr-02 with one 800rpm fan and cryorig has two 1300rpm fans so I was little concern prior to purchase. Though the noise level from the fans is good when processor is stressed. The exhaust fan in my case makes more noise than the heatsink.

Heatsink comes with two pwm fans and clip for optional third fan. Also a y splitter to connect two fans to one fan header.

The packing is pretty good, one of the best that I have ever seen.

Cons: Pricey? I guess, but high-end heatsinks are in that range.

Installation is slightly challenging. It is a big heatsink. My recommendation before you put thermal paste practice aligning heatsink with the motherboard. I ran in to a problem that when you put a screw driver to attached heatsink to motherboard, the center of the attachment screw and head of screw driver are in different place. During installation, the head of screw driver was landing on the edge of mounting screw and slipping down during twisting. I had to bring down the screw driver on the angle with little force for them to align. I should have mentioning that I had everything installed in my case. Since the heatsink is large, I could not get better viewing point. Oh yeah, you can not see what you are doing from the top of the heatsink. Maybe it would be good idea to remove middle fan prior to installation for better view point. Darn it, why didn't I think about this before.

Other Thoughts: I am impressed.

1 out of 5 eggsNot as Described. Bad Support

This review is from: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate Dual Tower Heatsink for AMD/Intel CPU's

Pros: - Aesthetically pleasing.
- Good for air cooling.

Cons: - Terrible Customer Service (Croyrig not Newegg)
- Difficult to mount (probably defected)
- Fans rated to be more quiet than Noctua and were extremely loud.
- Not as advertised.

Other Thoughts: Contacted Newegg for refund. They told me they would more than happy to help me (as they always are). But first I should contact the manufacturer. So I went ahead and did that. The manufacturer DID offer to replace the loud fans (but DID NOT). But did nothing to resolve the mounting issue. What they did was send me a picture of how to mount it. The nerve... I know how to read instruction pamphlets and know how to install an air cooler. I messaged them back and I guess they didn't bother to respond this time. I had to contact newegg again and they were kind enough to waive the reshipping fee. Newegg customer service always A+++.

And a note to Cryorig. For an up and coming brand that advertises their products to be top of the line and that send their products to tech channels and websites to do reviews. Make sure your customer service and products are good before you boast about how good your products are.

5 out of 5 eggsnice looking

This review is from: CRYORIG R1 Ultimate Dual Tower Heatsink for AMD/Intel CPU's

Pros: well thought out design
easy install
very nice packageing
3 year warranty if you don't register and if you do 6 year
comes with everything you need
and it comes in black and whit

Cons: the only cons I see are as follows
a little to large for some midcases
not using the amd stock plate will explain in other thoughts

Other Thoughts: people might get confused when they change the the amd stock plat with the one that comes with the cooler after they hand tight everything down that the backing plate is loose and hangs a little it is designed that way when you
put the cooler on and tighten everything down you will see
that the cooler provides the pressure needed to tighten up the back in general its still gets 5 eggs hopefully paul will do a bench mark using a amd+ and a review i notice that when newegg does bench marks they only use one type
of cpu i they should use both intel and am3+
