5 out of 5 eggsVey nice, it's small, portable & quiete

Pros: Its physically way smaller/lower profile than i thought it was & surprisingly alot quieter than i was expecting.
Shipped quick 6 days, packed well, box was enormous.

Of course super low price is what sealed the deal for me. At this price i could buy 2 if i wanted, and it would still be cheaper than say 1, 6-7-10K unit.

Well 20oz 5/30 oil and some gas started right up second pull and it was like 17F degrees outside that day.
Impossible to overfill with oil due to the low location on the case of the fill port.
Seems pretty well built, time will be the real test.

The "VERIFIED PURCHASE" actual owner reviews are all good, not only on N/Egg but everywhere.

I didn't want wheels, this is getting latched down in the detached garage with an outside metal flex tube type exhaust vent.

It met my expectations, keep in mind its a small back-up or portable generator its not an OFF-GRID or whole house solution.
Perfect for partying or tailgating for the weekend- or camping as you people with kids call it. Not exactly sure it would be big
enough for a job site generator with multiple heavy duty power tools you may want to go bigger for that. Would probably run
heavy draw tools one at a time though, is 30a.

Cons: NO 12V hook up, that would of been sweet deal for a small charger or inverter. Outlets are daisy chained.
There is only a single/phase or winding so this will never be modified to 240 with this head. Probably not very gas efficient but
when my powers out that's not a realistic concern, this is a backup & emergency generator for me.

I'm not real fond of that HOT muffler being right under the gas tank, but im sure their engineers already worked all that out.
Its gonna stink and slightly smoke for the first 10 minutes or so while it burns all that factory grease & paint off.
Only gets a tad louder under load, kinda wish the idle\throttle was more dynamic. It might have a setting for that
i didn't really look yet.

Other Thoughts: I refuse to run extension cords all over the place like a crazy person. My power goes out way to often to do that.
Its messy and dangerous for one, way to much work and more expensive than hooking it up directly to a breaker in my box.
Do you really want to try hooking up a bunch of extension's in the dark anyway? I loose power alot in Chicago, even on
beautiful sunny days so hooking it up correctly, quickly and easily is a must for me. And its easy enough the way
i have it a kid can figure it out.

I bought an outside (breaker-ed model) RV BOX hookup kit on auction sight for 12$,(changed receptical to Item#:"9SIA5D52JB1076")
and wired it directly to a new single pole breaker. I already have conduit,j-box back there as we moved our AC unit and left the
old box alone. Only had to push about 18" of new #10 wire threw it.

For a "breaker interlock" i used a .50 cent "90 degree corner bracket" (similar to item "9SIA27C3TN5157") in leui of the 100$ kit.
I slide the gen breaker left to the ON position and the othe other end of the bracket pushes up the MAIN to the off position.
I had originally planned on a barrel bolt lock like on a gate, it would of accomplished the desired results but looked really
ghetto and i didnt need to cover the 2 pole breaker after all.

IF you hook this up directly to your house you need some common sense and basic math skills. If you use 2 M/M "suicide cords"
(from azon or DIY)at separate ends of the house to get power through everything. You cut your amps in half and the first time
your heat or pump kicks on while your fridge is running your whole house is going dark- again. Those cords are hard (easy to make)
to find but NOT illegal like some less informed people would have you think- but they probably should be.

Instead of buying the "generator switch panel" that cost more than this generator i just consolidated my heat, pump, fridge and
living room breaker's over to one virtual side of the circuit breaker box- the same bus this is wired to. That's every other set of
breakers in my box like 1-2, 5-6, 9-10, I only had to switch my furnace & dryer breakers around, the kitchen, pump, living room
were already in the right spots. My house is only 2 x 120v/100a(?-i think)but i don't believe this generator will run both
sides of the circuit breaker box efficiently. And even if it does run it- it wont provide enough power that way for me. I did not
bother to test the 2 male to male cords or entire cicut box, that's only a theory based on grade school math skills & common sense.

Cant stress this point enough, make sure you shut your POWER BOX MAINS OFF when you use this if you wire this directly to your house or plug it in to your house wall outlets in any way shape or form. That also includes plugging it into your garage and back-feeding
it into your house. While its not against the law(yet) for a under 5K PORTABLE only generator, its still very dangerous for an
un-prepared lineman who's not paying attention or doing his job correctly and will also be an expensive mistake.
Just because linemen get paid as much as rock stars don't mean they're always paying attention & you just made their bad day worse.
When the power suddenly comes back on shoots 5 gazillion watts of power back in to your house then into your generator you really
gonna trust that breaker?.

If you still need it.There are 1000 aftermarket secondary muffler solutions(motorcycle-car-lawnmower-ATV-compressor)to keep
this quieter, be creative. It is seriously very quiete though. The "Gen-Silencer" kit thing i seen cost more than the generator did.

I would recommend this to anyone who needs a smaller size or very portable inexpensive generator.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding deal

Pros: Inexpensive. Picked this up on a Christmas sale. I made out like a bandit at near wholesale price.
It easily starts on the first pull.
10-12 hours per tank... nice.
Can tolerate modern gas additives such as ethanol.

Cons: No electric start.

Other Thoughts: Have it wired to the house and did a 12 hour test run. Was so impressed that I bought more gas and continued the test for another 48 hours. I can run everything in the house except the stove/oven, central air and the clothes dryer.

I live above New Orleans so this thing will come in handy if another hurricane like Katrina comes through. I was without electricity for over 3 weeks after Katrina.

1 out of 5 eggsNot economical

Pros: I don't own this item, but reviewing the specifications which I have a right to.

Cons: 1) Hrs of Run Time 12
2) Run Time at 50% Load 12

Displays the lack of engineering and development of the product, not to mention the lack of education of the ongoing energy crisis. Clearly the manufacturer (including newegg.com) for this product neglect the need for change and the need to redesign the fuel delivery system. All engines and motors, which use fossil fuels, have changed very little since the carburetor. 12 hours of use at full load and 12 hours of use at 50% load and 4 US Gallons?!! Just ridiculous.

The cost isn't even feasible either, nor economical.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerland 4000 W Portable Gas Generator 7.5 HP

Pros: holds the voltage decent for the 2/3load i gave it
comes with tools and both types of pluggs

Cons: would of been kool to actually be electric staet

Other Thoughts: i am a house that only needs 120 vac.i have a jet pump so i'm good with 120 . it came boxed nice . i read the tags and hammered the block out and unbolted the other bracket for shipping. i have two 1000w gas lights in my shop so i got to put almost 20 amp load to brake it in a little. this one holds the voltage at least at 110 or higher. when i went from one light to both lights the volts jumped up towards 130 and then came back down like it was steadying the load for a little.i like this new one better than my 2200w harbor freight.and for 170 the 2200w works great for what it is.
just everyone keep in mind the bigger the generator the more gas it uses.do what you want but if you loose power for a good couple of days when gas was 4 bucks friends with big ones 6500w or so were really using up gas, not cheap. use only what you need or you will pay.

5 out of 5 eggsA lot of bang for the buck.

Pros: Price
Size/Weight
30+ amps

Cons: No Oil included / Filling oil
Removing the shipping mount
Ail Filter Cover is hard to remove

Other Thoughts: I have debated getting a generator for awhile. Two recent power outages pushed me over the line and the price on this made it impossible to say no.
I'm not too worried about being off the grid electronic wise but wanted something that would cover a few basics:
Heater - winter time
Refrigerator - extended outage
Sump pump - if the King Kong El Nino ever shows up

Unit came well packaged and without any fluid in it or the box. This is nice so I could turn the unit completely upside down to help remove the metal brace and wood block that holds the engine firmly in place for shipping (it has rubber mounts that isolate the engine from the frame under normal use).
You are going to need some basic metric hand tools for this 12-14ish MM socket or end wrench and a hammer. I don't know if its typical or not as the instructions actually shows two metal brackets. I really had to hammer the wood block to get it out enough to remove the bracket.
Had to make a trip to get oil since it doesn't come with it, I used Mobil One 10-30. Takes about 20 Oz according to the book. While you're out, get a good smallish funnel otherwise it is going to be difficult to get the oil in the hole.
I removed the spark plug so I could rotate the engine over easily with 4-5 pulls on the cord after I filled it with oil. I'm not sure if these engines are test ran so I wanted to make sure oil got where it needed to be prior to startup.
Put some fuel in it and it started up on the second pull. Don't fill it up with a lot of fuel unless you plan on running it or use a fuel additive. Our oxygenated fuels don't store well in small engines.
As with any small engine it's best to run it out of gas to avoid trouble due to the previous mentioned fuel. It takes a good while with this engine so just turn the fuel to "off" and go get a coffee.
There is a set screw for the running RPM in case you need to adjust the frequency sine wave of the AC output for connecting to a UPC.
There are a lot of other reviews about this unit on the internet that give it high marks by people running it hard and with long periods of ownership so I'm feel really good about adding this to my "what if" tool kit.

5 out of 5 eggsRecoil starter

Pros: Just want to correct the specifications

Cons: The overview states recoil starter. The specification shows electric starter. I believe this is only a recoil starter. Reviews at other places say that it starts easily.
I do not have this product, just trying to correct the description.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good buy!

Pros: Ships in massive styrofoam shell, and traveled across the USA without damage! Required 1-2 hours familiarization and assembly. Started right away and provided power during blackout!

Cons: not as quiet as they'd make you believe, although noise level I tolerable.

Other Thoughts: I bought the electric start model, which is 20% more expensive, but except for the electric start it is identical to the model offered here.
