It's better at acquiring than the much older and cheaper Magellan I used occasionally. My experience with GPS is limited but I really love the Voice Command that let's you speak to the GPS to pick a destination, rather than having to reach for the display and push buttons. Cons: I believe these automotive GPS's aren't good away from the vehicle, like for walking, because the battery is too small to power the big display for very long. A bigger concern I have is with the traffic feature. When using the GPS during morning rush hour, the traffic report on the radio that I have relied on for years, warned of bad traffic, but the GPS never attempted to recalculate a way around the problem. I took my standard detour to avoid the problem but the GPS kept trying to get me turned around, and lead me into the heart of the gridlock! Other Thoughts: I think GPS are handy and worth the $100. Today I saw the nuvi 2599lmthd on sale somewhere for about the same money. I think the HD Traffic on the 2599 is better than the traffic on the 2597.
