Turn your computer into a video editing machine with SIIG's 3 port FireWire adapter. This PCI card has three external FireWire ports capable of handling up to 400Mb/s. It works with DV camcorders from today's top vendors for seamless transfers. You can also attach scanners, hard drive or printers.

The PCI 2.2 interface works with both PCs using Win98SE or later and Macs running OS 8.6 or later. That makes this a great card to use in re-purposing an older system. The ports support hot swapping so you don't have to turn off your computer to switch devices.

Ender3rd 10/9/2012 11:11:59 AM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 3/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 5/5Works great with Flex Radio 5000A Pros: My Flex Radio (SDR) 5000A requires a low latency firewire interface to allow PC control of all functions as well as the DSP and streaming audio for both TX and RX. The integrated firewire port on the computer that I use for this task worked fairly well but it exhibited delayed procedure call issues that resulted in pops, clicks, and dropouts now and then. The SIIG card eliminates all the streaming issues and handles all TX and RX functions seamlessly. Installation could not be easier. With the system powered down (and unplugged to assure no VCC is on the PCI bus) plug the SIIG into an open PCI slot. When you power up, Windows 7/Vista/XP/Server 2003/2008 and Win 2000 will install the correct driver without any intervention from you. In my system the SIIG card is sharing its assigned IRQ with 2 other devices but they all get along fine. Newegg had the SIIG card on my doorstep 48 hours after I placed my order. They are awesome! Cons: None. It works perfectly. Other Thoughts: The "Details" section in the Newegg description of this card makes no mention of Windows 7 support. It's worth noting that the documentation that accompanies the SIIG 3-Port 1394 MN-400012-S8 card lists Windows 7 among the supported operating systems. Did you find this review helpful? If you are into sound-recording and are running a Presonus Firestudio, or Firestudio Project, this chip-set (Texas Instruments) is listed in the manual for the Presonus as fully-functional. This card out-performs every other firewire card I've tried and handles the audio transition extremely well. When paired with a good quad-core cpu (Phenom II, or i5-2500/2500k, or i7-2600/2600k) you get exceptional performance! Not a single pop, click, hiss, or audio dropout! Cons: None. Other Thoughts: Make sure you set your buffer rate correctly before using. Also, disable any internet cards, or internet connection before recording audio as this can interfere with the process. Other Thoughts: I was getting pops, clicks and drop-outs with my onboard 1394 and AudioFire2. It was recommended to get a 1394 card with a TI chipset.
