Cons: Ordered this as part of my new pro tools build. would not communicate with my interface, tried a friends card and system worked flawlessly. Did an RMA, and 2 weeks later finally got the replacement and it does not work either.

Other Thoughts: This is the card that Avid recommends for use with Pro tools systems, which is why I bought it. Don't now why it don't work, but I will not be trying a third one. This has cost me business. Ordered this one instead as it is what my friend brought over that worked. SYBA SD-PEX30009

Pros: Easy to install. Works flawlessly with Steinberg MR816x firewire audio interface. This is the only PCIe firewire adapter I recommend

Cons: I was initially getting audio dropouts until I disabled CPU throttling (C1 C3 C6/C7 and EIST) in the BIOS. Not the cards fault though. After tweaking the BIOS everything worked perfectly

Other Thoughts: If you're using a Focusrite interface, this is the firewire board that you want. Works great in Cubase, as well.

Pros: Texas Instruments firewire chipsets are best for DAW purposes. This card is the only one recommended on the Avid site for Pro Tools hardware requirements (and the hardware recommended there is best for pretty much any DAW). I'm using it in Windows 7 64-bit, and had no driver issues. Smooth installation. The card also has a power input, which is useful if you're running a recording interface (or other device) with phantom power.

Cons: A little pricey for a firewire card, but worth it if you need stability.

Pros: I am a musician and I still use M-Audio firewire interface. This is one of the recommended chipsets for M-Audio products and I am using it on an ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 MOBO. I am using Windows 7 x64 SP1 and it loaded instantly upon installing.

Cons: Not a PCI slot so you need 1 molex to the back of it for 6 pin power. Feels a tad flimsy being in a tin PCI-E slot. I won't knock an egg because it isn't the manufacturers fault for the form factor.

Cons: DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7

Pros: Many Firewire audio interfaces work best with the TI firewire chipset. On my new DAW build, the motherboard didn't have any PCI slots and didn't have a TI firewire chipset on the motherboard (Asus p9x79 ws). This firewire card works perfectly with Steinberg MR816 audio interface

Other Thoughts: i verified that this particular card was the TI firewire chipset. Dropped this into the pcie slot and installed my Firewire audio interface with ease. No spikes in latency according to dpc latency checker
