4 out of 5 eggsUseful for XBMC

Pros: Works will with the CCIR transmitter/receiver. Header connected and plenty of cable to make a nice line of sight. The remote is a typical remote, nothing too fancy.

Cons: Not much Linux support, but a bit of tweaking got it to work just fine.

Other Thoughts: I never really had a reason for a PC remote until I made a part time HTPC. Since the price was cheap, I took a chance and it worked out. Not bad for basic remote functionality

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Media Center

Pros: Works great with Media Center. I got this just for the IR header. Enable the CIR in BIOS of my TA970 MB install the driver and you're good to go. I have no problem powering on my HTPC from S5 state. Use this with my Harmony Smart Control and everything works fine. I have a USB TV card and am able to watch, record, pause live local TV with the Harmony remote.

Cons: The only con I have is that the computer will sometimes turn on when I'm using the Harmony Remote for other tasks. Not a big deal as I have my HTPC on most of the time anyway.

Other Thoughts: Don't know why the other reviewer can't power on from the off state, maybe need to install the driver from Biostar? i have no problems with the same board.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for HTPC use on Biostar boards

Pros: Comes with full size and low profile brackets now, previous reviews only said full size. Uses standard MC remote IR codes, so I didn't have to capture their remote.

Cons: Does not wake from S5 (off), works fine for S1/3 though.

Other Thoughts: Oddly enough, the board I have supports WoL even in S5, which is neat, it's a TA970... now if only they would get back to me about a replacement I/O shield...

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It works

Cons: Not a whole lot you can do with it outside of controlling media center.

Other Thoughts: if you're lazy like me and you don't want to stand up just to turn on your pc, than this is perfect for you.

at first the remote didn't work, i thought i got a bad one, but it was fine, i had to go to the biostar website, search for my specific motherboard and download the cir header driver. after that it worked great.

5 out of 5 eggsA must have for Biostar motherboards.

Pros: The remote control is small and works well.

Cons: The 5pin IR receiver is only compatible Biostar's motherboards.

Other Thoughts: As you may know already, many motherboards these have so many awkward, useless, or unpopular headers, most of the time, they are disregarded by many users. Also, if you really want to be able to use certain headers, it is nearly impossible to optain any devices or parts that apply to them. This is one of those CIR headers that only have been its technical specs but has absolutely no standards. Many boards have their own proprietary design and shapes of these headers, it is so difficult to workaround with such under developed CIR headers, not to mention is horribly inavailability and near non-existen variety when it comes the applicable devices.
Anyhow, it looks like Biostar is the only company that released a remote control for their own CIR header.
I feel so lucky that I could possibly find this on Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsbetter than I imagined

Pros: This worked fantastic with my A880GU3. I specifically wanted something which could turn my PC on from an off state and this worked flawlessly. It was also half the price of my other choices.

Cons: The supplied remote was a bit weak but it doesn't matter since I programmed my harmony to work with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MCE Remote

Pros: This is a MCE 1039 (RC6) clone with the added Asrock aspect button on the top left. I was building an HTPC using a Biostar motherboard when I ran across this remote. Because it's a microsoft clone of the 1039 it is 100% compatible with Windows. I'm using XBMC and it works perfectly.

Now here is the really cool part -- I can power on my HTPC by pressing the power button on the remote. I had done some research on MCE remotes and this is one of the features I was interested in but I was unable to find a remote with that feature. The one reference I found for the Bio-Remote said it was not possible. I am using a H61MU3 motherboard with the latest BIOS and it works beautifully.

Cons: Feels like cheap plastic because it is. Cable is thin and looks fragile. It is wired though a full sized bracket that you can't remove without cutting the bracket or cutting the cable. I have a low profile case so that was a problem.

Other Thoughts: The first thing I did was cut the cable at the bracket. Drill a .250 inch hole in the back of my case and mount a 3.5mm Stereo panel jack. Solder the cable to the jack and solder a 3.5mm stereo plug to the other half of the cable. Now I don't have a cable hanging out the back of my case and I can add a 3.5mm patch cord if I need more length.

Setup with XBMC was easy -- search on "RC6 remotes setup the easy way". On my universal remote I just loaded the command set for a Microsoft MCE 1039 remote and that allowed me to put the Bio-Remote in the drawer with all my other remotes.

A great deal if you have a Biostar motherboard that supports this remote.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Compliment...

Pros: to Biostar motherboards...once you connect the infrared cable, and verify the settings in your bios...it's works with Window Media Center and Windows7 beautifully. NO SOFTWARE REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION!

Worth noting...low profile bracket also included for slim/small cases. Does not require PCI spot on motherboard, just an empty bracket place at the rear of your rig.

Cons: In windows 7 it always ask for permission...rather annoying. Also, various buttons can be assigned for task...like opening Internet browsers but some of the button layouts could be larger and clearer.

Other Thoughts: This is a MUST have product for HTPC builds using Biostar motherboards!!! Found this by accident after I purchased my mother board
