Cons: Battery life poor. Drill transmission has failed within 6 months.

Other Thoughts: Thought I'd cheat on price of a DeWalt and try this. Very poor quality drill. I'm currently seeking warranty support from Hitachi. 2 stars only for the flashlight.

Cons: - Batteries die after 1 year , both batteries refused to charge up anymore. Replacements cost more than the set itself. Very poor Battery life, even tried to have the nicad replaced but that is still very costly $45 a piece.

Pros: Built well. Only 70 dollars. Better feel than most other drills. Includes a flash light. This drill is the best bang for your buck and I would prefer this over a Dewalt any day. Can take a beating and has plenty of torque. And believe me... we put these drill to the test.

Cons: Only 18v for this model.

BTW... There are way to many Dewalt "fanboys" out there that don't know squat about other brands. Fair warning. And we have had them on our crew... guess what ... they use Hitachi now.

Other Thoughts: Take it from a pro... I have worked in HVAC as an installer for years. Nobody uses a drill more than an installer in HVAC. This is my tool. This is the best our crew has used. We have a stack of dewalts and Makitas that have been our past drills. We all agree... Hitachi makes an awesome drill. Don't hesitate to buy.

Pros: I own Hitachi drill, 14,4 volts one, for fore more then 4 years. Still running on original batteries. Ryobi 18 volt, on the other hand, out of 4 batteries only 2 are still usable in less then 3 years and need a recharge often.

Cons: Dont own this particular drill

Other Thoughts: If this drill is built the same way my 14,4 volt was- buy. Never have seen batteries such durable.

Pros: batteries work well, system is backwards compatible with nimh, built quality, output pretty good. 1/2" drive. Light weight with the 1.5ah batteries.

Cons: 1.5ah battery work time.

Other Thoughts: I have the 1/2" hammerdrill version which is basically the same. My old boss used the 3/8" version nimh for years as an electrician as his only portable. Many brands do not stay cross compatible with battery types. Hitachi does and they are awesome for it. They make 3ah batteries, i would suggest them for contractors. My drill hammered itself apart eventually but it just has that much power and i really abused it for about 2 years straight drilling through studs with paddle bits and used a huge 18" long bosch hammer drill bit to drill through concrete walls. I would put tool brands in this order as I know them: panasonic>bosch>hitachi>makita. I've owned many power tools. Many battery types and this one holds up. Extra batteries are a must if you use them hard. For light work it will last all day and li-ion holds a charge for a long time without self discharge. Heat is an issue. Ideally you don't want li-ions sitting in a hot vehicle because it will permanently damage them.

Pros: Enough power to build a 18X18 pool deck with no problems, would recommend

Pros: I work for a contractor who won't buy anything BUT Hitachi for drills and impact drivers. They are the best you can get for the money. Just as good, maybe better than Dewalt.

Cons: I wish this set had an impact driver included.

Pros: Strong running. Does well in most materials. Acceptable charge time. Multi clutch settings for most use. Flashlight is bright.4
Durable construction. Bit set was nice.

Cons: Very poor battery life. Expensive battery replacement cost also.
Batteries do not last more than a year with light to medium use.
Poor run time when working. Kind of heavy for lugging around on ladders.
Lithium batteries would perform better but at a very high cost!

Other Thoughts: Happy with the working performance of this drill but the short run times,battery longevity,battery replacment costs and weight make this a soso buy.

Pros: Dependable, cost effective, very will made, nice feel and balance.

Cons: None, nada, nothing. Wish I could find a matching circular saw to go with it.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this set for 10, maybe more years now. Use it all the time. Every time I need a screw driver, bit driver, drill (and sometimes a light weight hammer). Flashlight is also very nice, especially with the flat bottom on the battery. It stands up without support and the tilting lamp allows you to point it, hands free, where you are working. Batteries do drain moderately quickly under heavy use (drill only), but with the quick charger and two battery packs, that has never been a problem. If you don't want to waste money paying for a certain manufacturers name, and you aren't a professional builder who's gonna use it to death (and maybe even if you are) I'd say if your looking at this, buy it. In the long-run it's cost me less than penny's to own for all the use I get out of it.
