5 out of 5 eggsExcellent LED bulb

Pros: These are very bright, I used them on our driveway lanterns. They light up the whole driveway and big part of the yard. I would estimate them to be as bright as 100W bulbs.

Cons: expensive

Pros: Great deal when it was on sale. Runs on the hot side for a 10 watt LED. 900 millisecond ondelay roughly.

Cons: With out the sale, there $29.99 each direct from the manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: Always check with the manufacturer when buying products. Sometimes you'll find a better deal.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This bulb is a great value considering the electricity bill savings in the first 9 months alone pay for each bulb! I opted for the cool white instead of warm white variety because I do a lot of photography and intricate computer work, so this is considered daylight and provides great detail and contrast versus a warm bulb. This also has the added benefit with photography to not have to adjust the white balance to compensate for the 'fake' indoor lighting of incandescent bulbs. Images are vivid and show colors for what they really are without having to make compensations. It's also cool to the touch which means my lighting fixture of 4 bulbs will no longer heat up the immediate area underneath and around them.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Anyone not used to this kind of lighting may be put off but it's not meant for a relaxing atmosphere such as a bedroom. It's meant more for bathrooms, kitchens, workstations, offices, etc. Newegg also carries this same bulb but in a warm white variety so you can check out both and determine for yourself which you like in what area of the house.

5 out of 5 eggsAluratek 75W Equiv. A19 LED

Pros: Very good light source for reading. Much better light than CFC bulbs. Very natural - not overly white.

Cons: Cost

Other Thoughts: Would buy again when they go back on sale.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Bulb

Pros: This is a nice LED bulb. I bought these to replace downward firing above-sink light and a small closet area, both of which had 60W Warm CFL bulbs. Barely any light made it through the white enclosure surrounding the fixtures, now it appears twice as bright. It is a little off-putting and bluish tint, but struggling to see like before is not an issue. The entire closet looks like irradiated daylight, and almost too much light for such a little area.

Cons: 1-Second startup delay, which I'm gathering is supposedly a feature. Haven't read any data to back that up.

Other Thoughts: I've bought multiple 60/40 watt equivalent Utilitech LEDs at Lowes that uses 7.5 watts for ~450 lumens. They're instant on, and very subtle compared to these 75W equivalent LEDs. These are easily the brightest I've seen in action.

4 out of 5 eggsLike it better than some...

Pros: Efficient. Directional brightness. Watch for sale price....

Cons: Directional brightness.

Other Thoughts: Match a 'typical' 75 watt lamp, to the sides no, from the end of the lamp, I would say yes. Tried this in a fixture that holds the lamp parallel to where the light is needed. Blech. Pretty dim. Used in another fixture that shines the light straight down and the light where we need it compared to a standard lamp was greater. In other words, almost like a spot light yet more diffuse. Reading under the lamp was no problem. Would buy again, IF they are on sale again. Regular price is a bit too high.

2 out of 5 eggsWhere's the light?

Pros: Cool

Cons: Not enough light - 850 lumens.
"GE 97497 - 75 Watt - A19 - Frosted - 1,125 Life Hours - 1,125 Lumens - 120 Volt" cost $0.65
Excessive money

3 out of 5 eggsLumens Do Not Match 75w Replacement

Pros: - Almost there for useful replacement of incandescent lights.
- The design looks good.

Cons: - With a manufacturer rated "Light Output (Lumens): 10W (850lm - 720lm)" this just about gets to the threshold of a 60w incandescent (890 lumens). It does not come close to the 1180 lumens typical for a 75 watt incandescent.

- Lumen ratings for incandescent bulbs are available on the web.

Other Thoughts: - I am still hopeful that manufacturers will be able to get us LED bulbs closer to the actual lumen equivalent of incandescent bulbs.
