Rosewill RTMT-12001 Splash-proof (IP54) Adjustable Emissivity 12:1 Infrared Thermometer

Pros: It does what is says it does. It appears to be accurate, and I'm pretty happy with it. Got this as a bundle with some SATA cables so I didn't have an explicit use for it, but it sure is fun running around the house measuring the temperature of everything. Turns off automatically after about 30 seconds. No need for an on/off switch. Nice.

Cons: As others have mentioned, it isn't very user friendly. You really have to read the manual to know what you're looking at on the LCD display. While this unit DOES have both a BACKLIGHT, and a LASER, but they are not turned on by default and it is unclear how to turn them on.

Other Thoughts: Hold the trigger, and while holding the trigger press and hold the C/F button to toggle the laser. Hold the trigger and while holding press and hold the "Lock" button to toggle the backlight.

Pros: Solidly built, splash proof

Cons: According to this thing, I'm dead (measured body temp 89.3F)

Pros: Sturdy, multifunctional, and covered in rubber. Takes AAA batteries and does what I need.

Cons: It took reading the reviews to realize that I needed to turn the laser (and backlight) on, by holding the trigger and holding one of the black buttons. The instructions were a bit non-obvious, in the "add-value" table.

Pros: Awesome toy for any computer repair person. Bought it for my husband for a gift. We especially love the laser pointer and the light up back screen. This item will come in handy for many other things other then computers. Over all, this is a great tool to have and it works great.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: The battery compartment is a bit tricky to open but that just insures the splash resistant quality of the product.

Other Thoughts: The battery cover is a bit difficult to get off, but that is a good thing imo. Just be sure to unscrew it and pull up from the bottom end. Toward the top is a little plastic hook/hinge, so dont try to pull from there.

Pros: it works better then i expected

Cons: have not had any problem with it, just took me a while to figure out how to turn on the laser pointer

Pros: Device seems to measure temperature fairly accurately and has a number of settings for measurement.

Cons: Laser feature is not very clear in the manual. To turn on the laser feature, you must pulling the trigger, then you press the C/F button until the laser appears. When the LCD is on, you will see a triangular icon denoting the laser is enabled. To turn the laser off, do the same process. The laser setting is remembered by the device.

Other Thoughts: Battery cover is a bit tricky to remove. It won't slide very well, but you can pry it off with your finger nails.

I think the laser should be enabled by default.

Pros: It worked like a thermometer.

Cons: The laser didn't work.12:1 is pretty useless when you don't know what you are pointing at.

Other Thoughts: The caution label is over cautious about a non-emitting laser.
