(Untested) * They won't burn you touching them while they are on. Cons: * The light these give off is a pale purple color. * The housing was larger than expected. * Expensive Other Thoughts: The color these produce is a fairly ugly pale purple color. It is a far cry off from the 'Warm White" that is advertised. They stick out like a sore thumb compared to the halogens they replaced. While I picked these up "on sale", they still were not cheap either. Unless you value energy savings over all else, I can't think of a reason to buy these. My old halogen lights were cheaper and produced much more pleasing looking light. If you don't care about the 'warmness' of the light these produce, they seem 'OK'. Speedy Newegg shipping. Good price on this week's sale. Cons: Too Long! The bulb is probably 3/8 inch longer than a standard MR16 bulb and did NOT fit in the outdoor 12-volt landscape lighting housing I intended to try it out in. Plugs in the socket fine but the extra length prevents putting the glass lens and ring back on the fixture to make it weatherproof. Other Thoughts: I was really excited to find what would have been a great energy efficiency improvement for the total of 7 bulbs I run adding up to 200 watts. I was all set to buy another 6 bulbs if this one looked good and that would have taken me down to 28 watts and provided a pretty quick payback on my electricity savings as these lights run all night on a flagpole and trees.
