4 out of 5 eggs40 watt equivalent based on the math

Pros: New tech. Doesn't contain mercury. Will only get better over time as the tech improves.

Cons: There seems to be a trend developing in which the brightness of these LED bulbs is being exaggerated. A 60-watt bulb gives off 800-850 lumens of light. These bulbs are 581 lumens which is a 40-watt equivalent not even close to 60-watt. This bulb would need to be about 11 watts (not 7.6) to be 60-watt equivalent.

Other Thoughts: I'm a big fan of LED lighting and it's great to see the 'lighting facts' being so clearly displayed but let's stop trying to fool people with the exaggerated wattage equivalent claims. You don't need to do that. Just tell it like it is. Sell the 7.6 watt LED bulb as a 40-watt and an 11 watt as a 60 watt.

Pros: Second set of these, and all I can say is I hope the price comes down. They work better than CFL

Cons: They can get a little hot.

Other Thoughts: None

4 out of 5 eggsCollection 8W LED Bulb

Pros: Wow! What difference in the illumination output compared to the 60 watt incandescent I had. Love it so far. Getting ready to switch out the rest of my incandescent bulbs soon.

Cons: Initial purchase cost,

5 out of 5 eggsVery impressed!

Pros: I just installed these and they are much brighter than the 60 watt incandescent bulbs from before. I really like the white light they emit rather than having a yellow tinge. Its amazing to think that all three of these bulbs use 1/3 the energy than just one 60 watt bulb! Not to mention these are much brighter and will last far greater.

Cons: None whatsoever!

Other Thoughts: I can't attest to the longevity as they are brand new to me. Hopefully they last as long as the manufacturer stated. Even if it were half of the stated length of time I would be happy with my purchase. The energy consumption, longevity (theoretically), and the fact that these don't contain mercury make for a no brainer purchase and investment to me.

4 out of 5 eggsFact...

Pros: only uses 8watts, long life

Cons: NOT actually 60watt equivalent - The typical 60 watt incandescent light bulb gives out about 850 lumens which breaks down to approximately 14 lumens per watt. *THIS ONLY PUTS OUT 580 lumens*

Other Thoughts: It's way more efficient than your average \/$1 incandescent bulb yes, also roughly 14 times more expensive... but lasts like 10 times as long (in theory) than your average incandescent and saves over 85% in energy costs.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Energy Star?

Pros: Not really a review. More of a question. Why is this LED bulb not Energy Star? I thought just about any LED bulb would be.

Cons: Not Energy Star?
