1 out of 5 eggsMissing Spec Info, No Warranty Replacement

Pros: Good price for an LED bulb of decent quality

Cons: The specifications on this product's page do not include information about product use limitations (i.e. not for use in "enclosed" fixtures). After having one die on me, I found that the manufacturer's site does not have any apparent method for processing a warranty replacement. 25,000 hr / 3yr "warranty" is only for show.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted about 1500 hours

Pros: Initially Cheap price, warm light color, cool running temp

Cons: Lasted about 1500 hours use inside of 2.5yrs, now only functions as strobe light.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend a more reputable brand

5 out of 5 eggsGood LED lights for the price

Pros: Low cost
Good white light
Accurate brightness/wattage rating

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried as dimmable (don't have any dimmable fixtures), so can't comment on that feature. Just as good low wattage LED lights these are worth the Shellshocker pricing.

2 out of 5 eggsWarranty Frustration

Pros: Promotional sale price was attractive; warranty issues were not!

Cons: 20% failure rate in my case (1 out of 5).

Other Thoughts: Originally bought five of these bulbs and one has already failed (rapid, continuous blinking after turning on) after only three months of use. Manufactures website doesn’t have an option to file a claim for replacement, so I guess it’s kind of a “you spends your money and you take your chances” situation. Disappointed, as this was my first experience with LED lighting. Guess I’ll look at a different brand for a more reliable replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bulb but understand its advantages and limitations

Pros: - Standard (A19) light bulb shape and will thus fit most fixtures.
- Light produced by LED (light emitting diode) so very efficient, advertised as $0.85 per year. Or alternately, 40W produced from 6.5W energy.
- Range of colors available. The one I tested was yellow (denoted as 3000K). I would say easy on my eyes for this one.
- Very long life-times advertised (22.8 years @3 hours per day), obviously I didn’t test this feature. That converts to 199,728 hours compared to approximately 10,000 hours for incandescent bulbs.

Cons: - Cost is typically 5 to 10 times more expensive than standard incandescent bulbs.
- Warranty is 6 years @ 3 hours per day. (I have no idea how they would determine your daily usage.) If the bulb only lasted this period of time, cost per hour would be about the same as an incandescent bulb.
- Getting the internal heat out of a LED bulb can be an issue for some bulbs, e.g. fins on side or weight. Be sure you know how the bulb looks before buying. This could also affect bulb’s weight (might affect balance of cantilevered fixtures) and/or limit where you place the bulb (do not confine the bulb, heat must be allowed to escape).

Other Thoughts: - If you own a home switching over time to these might be worth the change. Living in an apartment then a change to these probably is not worth it unless you want to take them with you.
- Price on LED bulbs has been decreasing since they appeared. Replacing incandescent bulbs in your home as they burn out might be one strategy, don’t buy a boat load of LED bulbs to start with.
- Could be very useful when placed in hard to access locations to minimize your later replacement.

3 out of 5 eggsSunSun 40W relacement

Pros: Cheap. Seems sturdily built. I like the 300k color temp better than the 2700 or 5000K.

Cons: Turn on delay of 1-2 seconds is annoying enough to stop me from buying anymore. My wife immediately nixed it and I had to use them in the basement. Most other bulbs don't have this so it can obviously be eliminated at the design level.

4 out of 5 eggsbright energy saver

Pros: bright, low energy, low cost

Cons: makes my eyes more tired than cfl bulb

Other Thoughts: don't look directly at bulb or keep lamp close to eyes. I think it is bad in the long run

3 out of 5 eggsJust OK

Pros: 1. Put out better light than the incandescent bulbs they replaced.
2. Like the 3000K color temp compared to the 2700K
3. Cool to the touch.

Cons: 1. Take a second to actually turn on. (Unlike my Cree)
2. My Cree are better
3. Doesn't work well in lamp. Box says not made for lamp, due to weight, but I would say due to light pattern as well.

Other Thoughts: These are fine 40 wt bulbs, and I like the color temp. The delay when turning them on was a surprise that I will get use to. I would say there are better choices such as Cree. I would not say to say away, but also would say to rush out and buy unless you find a good deal (like I did with Newegg).

5 out of 5 eggsTurn on the Lights

Pros: Gives you the same lighten that you would expect from a 65 watt bulb. I use 65 watt bulbs throughout the house and when one of the old bulbs fail I replace it with a LED bulb. Great replacement bulb. Since they are suppose to have a lifespan of 25,000 hours (2.8 years if they burn 24 hours a day) it is great that they have a 3 year warranty. This is first time I have every had something that should fail before the warranty is up.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: These bulbs have a short delay when being turned on and off. If you catch them on sale I would say "stock up" so that you have them on hand when an old bulb fails.
