1 out of 5 eggsTotal Junk

Pros: nice bright white light

Cons: I purchased 2 of these on sale, they both started flickering after a few months of intermittent use. If these lasted a few years I could understand the high price, but for how long they last these are ridiculously over-priced. Save you money, buy a better quality brand name product.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Customer Service (it seems)

Pros: The quality / quantity of the light output was good for LEDs in the same price range at the time it was purchased.

Cons: After about 16 months the same flicker problem mentioned by others started. I'm sure it's a heat deteriorated component. If allowed to cool down it works OK for a little bit.

New Eggs product web link doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: The item is listed as having a 3 year warranty so I hunted up SunSun's WEB site and while I did not see this specific product listed or a support link, I sent them a message along with a copy of my NewEgg invoice through the contact link. They got back to me pretty quickly and are sending me a replacement at no charge. I don't know if I'm getting exactly the same but regardless I was impressed with the willingness to supply a replacement. We'll see how the next one performs.

1 out of 5 eggsflickering problem

Pros: it works for a short period of time

Cons: 50% (2 out of 4 bulbs) die after a while.

Other Thoughts: order 2x 5000k and 2x 3000k bulbs on 8/24/2014.
After a few months of light usage, one of the bulbs started flickering and die completely, then another one began flickering just now. I feel really bad about this particular product now, I have other bulbs purchased around the same time and they are still working.

2 out of 5 eggsFailed < 12mos

Pros: Bulb is quick to power up and down, very bright, close to that of a 75 watt it claims to match. Color is good, on the cooler side, but not blue.

Cons: Bulb started flickering like a horror show about 10 months into ownership, I doubt the light has more than 1000-1200 hours on it TOPS. Very disappointing. Have another bought at the same time, interesting to see how that continues to hold up.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't buy again with that failure rate, there are better bulbs for the money. Going to see about this supposed "lifetime warranty" but the company has next to no contact info, so I am not going to hold much hope. Probably cost more to return it than I purchased it for.

2 out of 5 eggsIts a light bulb

Pros: None that I can see other than being able to say its an LED bulb.

Cons: I am tired of seeing companies who make LED light bulbs charge so much for them. LEDs are extremely cheap, yet companies that use them for bulbs and such over price the heck out of them.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this overpriced bulb. It should only cost $2 not $17 plus $5 shipping for a light bulb. Really?

4 out of 5 eggsSolid replacement for many situations.

Pros: Plug it in, it works, always a plus. As bright as advertised, if not brighter. Durable construction. Excellent packaging. Dimmable? (not tested yet) Reasonably priced, with occasional sales make this a solid choice to buy.

Cons: Bulbs are very heavy and run fairly hot. Getting hot and heavy is a good thing for romance, but not so much for light bulbs. :) Not nearly as hot as older incandescent bulbs I grew up with, but much hotter than CFL bulbs people may be used to nowadays. The weight can pose a tipping hazard to floor and table lamps, it's a warning actually written on the box. They don't mention that you have to make sure the socket (and armature if applicable) is able to support the full weight of about 1/2 to 3/4 pound per bulb. The heat issue means they can't be used in enclosed fixtures (no recessed lighting). This may be more of an issue during summer with A/C off. I have not yet tested in summer. The aluminum heat sink fins look a bit odd, and may interfere with some tight applications, but then again, probably shouldn't be using the bulb in that case.

Other Thoughts: 3000K is more of a yellow, like daylight or sunlight in late afternoon. It feels warm, and is nice in cold winter evenings, for sure, but not exactly white. I also bought the other 5000K bulb from same manufacturer at this wattage which is more of a bluish or harsh white that feels a bit cold or sterile. A true white would be achieved by using both, perhaps, which is what I plan to do in a torchiere style lamp. Despite the odd partitioning of the LED panels into 3 sections by the aluminum fins, they produce almost no noticeable crossover shadow when farther than 2-3' from light.

5 out of 5 eggsTOUGH

Pros: I bought this bulb to replace the bulb in a shop light that many people use to work under vehicles with. It just takes a couple of hits to the cage that holds the bulb and both incandescent & CFL bulbs burn out, usually amounting to 1 or 2 uses before bulb replacement. With the LED bulb installed, I’ve used the shop light dozens of times with ZERO burn outs.

Cons: High initial cost

Other Thoughts: I use LED bulbs elsewhere because no flickering like that of a fluorescent bulb & no waiting for the bulb to warm up to provide maximum light. I live in a hot climate. This bulb saves not only the 53W over a standard bulb, those watts=heat. Because of inefficiencies in removing heat using A/C, the A/C unit is going to use about 75 more watts to remove the 53W of heat. Basically each 75W standard bulb I replace with one of these is going to save me about 128W of electricity.
If I was in a cold climate, the extra heat produced by a standard bulb might help in lowering my heating bill.
Even a CFL that produces the same amount of light uses 20-25W & I’ve rarely had a CFL last more than 2 years. LED bulbs are supposed to last around 9 years. If one gets broken, there is no sharp glass or poisonous mercury to deal with.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems Cooler Than 3000K

Pros: Efficient and bright.

Cons: Light seems closer to 4000K than 3000K. I have the noticeably warmer 60W version too.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bright as 75w

Pros: Build quality. Low energy consumption.

Cons: Yellow cast. Color temp not really 3000k, it more close to 2700k and warm. Other SunSun LED 40w 3000k bulbs have more natural color light.
