5 out of 5 eggsbest entry class blade

Pros: There is nothing that comes close to this. With its blade/compute module capability, built in SAN, IP KVM, virtualization, etc. We run any application with no issues and deploying new virtual machines takes only minutes. I tell you what, you put in SSD and there is not much faster for the price.

Cons: the only con I can think of is that with the virtualization license ($300 to $500) for all 6 compute modules (crazy cheap), is that the virtual disks are static and not dynamic.

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre Entry Level Blade system

Pros: Stable for Windows 2008 R2 (not Terminal Servers though)

Cons: Very limited compatible hardware set. Although the chassis is cheap everything else needs to be licensed to do some of the simplest things. No fiber connection accessories. Forget about running a terminal server on one of the blades even if you don't run it on any kind of virtualization platform.

Other Thoughts: My company purchased this before I started working here and I haven't run into another one. We have a wide variety of issues running vmware on the device. 3 of the 6 blades are dedicated to running ESXi and they have constant issues communicating with the only compatible disk array.
