2 out of 5 eggsFailed PSU in 90 days

Pros: Good price, nice case

Cons: Poor quality Psu. Fan failed in less than ninety days. no damage but system overheated to 160 degrees before I noticed the problem.

Other Thoughts: I have bought a lot of stuff from New Egg over the last 12 to 15 years and I have always been satisfied. This is the first itemaftontrix I have ever bought from New Egg that I regretted. Hopefully In Win monitors these review comments and will contact me.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologized for any inconvenience that you have experienced. Please kindly contact our customer service dept at 909-348-0588 x 741 or email us at customerservice@in-win.com for the RMA number. We will provide the replacement power supply to you as soon as we can. Thank you.

2 out of 5 eggsBad PSU, missing features and no support!

Pros: Good thermal design to allow CPU direct access to fresh air, which allows the fan to run quiet. With my i3-4130T it's silent except in the most demanding scenarios.

Cons: First, it's advertised as having "Designated Infrared Receiver position supports Media Center and optional Internal amplifier" but this position/amplifier is not mentioned anywhere in the included instructions, not on identified on their website and I have been unable to find anywhere I could play my infrared receiver where it would get a signal, other than outside the case.

Second, either the PSU is not providing anywhere near the 300W it's rated for, or I got a faulty PSU. I sent an email to their support address over a week ago and have got no response. This means I have to try and gamble in finding a micro-ATX PSU that will fit this case. It's also nowhere nearly as good a value if it doesn't include a working PSU.

Lastly, the 4-pin CPU cable from the PSU is way too short, and only barely reaches the plugin on my motherboard by going over the CPU fan

Other Thoughts: This is my HTPC part list:
i3 4130T (max TDP of 35W)
MSI H81M-E35 LGA 1150 Intel H81
G.SKILL ECO Series 2 x 2GB 1.35v RAM Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBECO
60GB Mushkin SSD
WD Green WD20EZRX 2TB IntelliPower SATA 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
ASUS DRW-24B1ST DVD-RW SATA drive
TP-LINK TL-WN881ND Wireless N300 PCI-X
AVerMedia AVerTVHD Duet PCTV tuner (A188) A188-AF PCI-X

With no discrete GPU and such a low-power CPU the advertised 300 watts should be more than sufficient. However, drives are frequently not detected at startup, and I get Windows errors indicative of a faulty PSU. Support has been completely unresponsive.

If the PSU was working, and the company's support was responsive, then the only flaw would be that the CPU Cable was too short, and this would be a 4-star case. But since the PSU is bad, and their support is terrible this is a 2 star case at best.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Sir or Madam,
Checked with the customer service, we didn't receive any email regarding to faculty PSU issue without response. Please kindly contact our customer service dept at 909-348-0588 x 741 or email us customerservice@in-win.com again. We will provide the replacement power supply to you as soon as we can.
Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdated review ... second impressions

Pros: I'm updating my review of a couple days ago. I still believe this case to be well made. The features it provides are quality, with possible the exception of the PSU. I found the Kensington lock, but without documentation to show where it is it is difficult to know it exists.

Regarding the PSU, which is a TFX factor of course, there really isn't much to choose from in the industry. Also, if you cut the plastic tie which bundles all of the cables to the floor of the case the CPU cable will reach its connection. Crossing my fingers wit just the 4-pin CPU plug, the system booted up fine. It runs fairly quietly. However, because it is only a 4-pin CPU cable I doubt I'll be able to push my chip very hard.

The detachable harddrive cage is very nice. The build went together easy enough.

Cons: A lack of documentation leads the consumer to wonder about several features.

No USB 3. The website says that it is an option but there is no info on how to acquire it and no links to any optional parts. Perhaps if there was some documentation ....

Other Thoughts: The PPCT plate is nice, but it limits your memory selection to low profile sticks. I bought some quality memory to match my motherboard and couldn't install the PPCT plate. However, with a Dremel I was able to cut out part of the plastic and it fit over the memory.

The side fan slot is nice. But beware that once you push your 80mm fan in there it is locked in place and in there for good unless you know how to get it out (because of course, there is no documentation). My 80mm fan failed right away and I had to literally cut it out of the case bracket. After all of that, I discovered that all you have to do is push the bracket towards the front and it pops out. No way to tell that though.

In spite of its shortcomings, I think it's the best micro ATX case available for the price. If it had USB 3 and documentation I'd give it 5 eggs.

You will be challenged to add more than 1 expansion card, but then understand that you are building in a micro ATX case.

3 out of 5 eggsNice features, bad PS, lies

Pros: The case seems sturdy and well made. While the toolless bay features takes a moment to figure out, it does work and is satisfactory. The USB 2 and audio internal cables are well made and long enough.

Cons: No docmentation. Took a little figuring about a few things. The power supply only has a 4-pin CPU connector while most motherboards need an 8-pin. The PS 24-pin cable is exactly the minimum length to make the connection. The 4-pin CPU cable is about 2 inches short. It would need to be about 6 inches longer to make the connection without being pulled across the CPU fan. You will need your own power supply.

There is no way to get the "optional" USB 3 connector. The USB 3 is listed as an option but there is no way to order it. The specs say that there is a Kensington lock, but there is NOT. Lies.

Other Thoughts: What this case does well is nice. But what it doesn't do well (the power supply, USB 3, Kensington lock) is really pretty poor, and in a couple points outright lies.

Seriously, In Win, leave the throw away power supply out and add USB 3.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Sir or Madam,
BL641S case did have Kensington lock that is a hole for lock on back of the case. If you have any question, please kindly contact our customer service dept at 909-348-0588 x 741 or email us at customerservice@in-win.com. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent slim case

Pros: VERY easy to build with. The only time you need a tool is to screw the MB to the backplane, and everything else snaps in firmly. Perfect for a compact/low power build. The entire thing disassembles into 5 pieces so you always have access, which is good for me since I have big hands. Not once did I feel cramped while building in this chassis, and it remained accessible, when I had to get back into it to move a cable. It even seems to manage good airflow. If you are building an office machine, I can't recommend this case enough.

Cons: Would like it to include a case fan on the side port rather than just the space for one.

Other Thoughts: You need to plan your entire build very carefully with this case. It has one 5.25" bay, one 3.5" that will accommodate an HDD, and one 3.5" bay for a FDD. If you want a second HDD, it will have to be external.

My build:

3 out of 5 eggsNice..but

Pros: Slim, as it says and screwless

Cons: The Newegg description says there are two internal 2.5" bays, but I cannot find anything smaller than 3.5". I might be missing something, but there are no instructions to check and this model isn't on the In-Win website. I bought 2.5" drives based on the description of the product.
