In Win H-Frame Mini

In Win H-Frame Mini Aluminum Mini-ITX Computer Case

With its shiny appearance and innovative frame with R-curve design, the H-Frame Mini redefines the Mini-ITX chassis. In Win uses the laser-cut aluminum plates to create a solid structure on this case. The aluminum side panel and tempered glass side panel accommodate many different types of builds. This compact case comes with a 180W power supply, and supports one low profile card, one slim ODD, two 2.5" HDDs, and a Core i5/i7 processor (CPU power 65W or lower). The cooling, even without a fan, is no problem thanks to its open-air design. In addition, the H-Frame Mini gives you the flexibility to place it in either a tower (vertical) or desktop (horizontal) position.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent.

Pros: Great build quality. I noticed the I/O back panel does not snap in, then discovered the front mobo stand-offs have a tapered hub that snuggly fits the mobo in perfect alignment! Great system! I like the stiffness of the quality cables -- this allows you to shape them to stay in place for proper/clean/neat placement.

Cons: CPU cooling was a challenge. Had to cut side panel hole for 120mm x 25 fan inside with Silverstone 120 filter outside to cool low profile RAINJINTEK Pallas heat sink. Works beautifully and dead quiet!!!

Other Thoughts: Glass side panel restricts air flow if used, and I wish someone would explain why? Makes no sense to me... It does makes a great template starter for where to cut hole in side panel.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsNice looking case but runs hot

Pros: Very nice looking case for a small compact build. It's easy to access 2.5 HDD.

Cons: The only major complaint I have with this case is heat & noise. With the A10-7850K and stock CPU cooler and the glass side panel it averaged between 65-68c, with the aluminum panel it sits 47-50c, all this while under light to moderate load. A couple of small complaints is as a previous reviewer said the stiff cables make it somewhat difficult for cable management. Also not that it’s super important but there was no HDD LED lead from the front panel to the motherboard even though there is an icon and what appears to be an LED indicator on the front panel. Over all I’m “OK” with it but would/will be happier if I could find a way to cool it better.

Other Thoughts: AMD A10-7850K Kaveri APU
ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ FM2+ Motherboard
Mushkin Enhanced Stealth 8GB (2 x 4GB Memory

3 out of 5 eggsHandsome outside, ugly inside

Pros: Great looks, strong construction, nice desktop size, perfect storage provisions. The power supply appeared to handle 100% CPU load (of approx. 140 Watts) without a problem, but I did not have a graphics board installed. With a graphics card, the P.S. would not handle the i7-4790 I'm using.

Cons: The front-panel cables are enclosed in woven plastic braid, making the cables stiff and much larger in size than needed. The USB 3.0 cable is constructed with excessively rigid and thick wires, insulation, and strain relief connectors. It is better suited as an external cable than an internal (protected) cable. When one completes the internal connections, there are fat cables everywhere, impeding what little airflow is available. Also, with this particular unit the power supply fan occasionally becomes noisy, independent of load, almost as if the fan stepping motor gets out of sync with the driver. My main gripe, though, relates to the non-standard front-panel interconnects that spoil an otherwise good-looking case and impedes airflow. Forget the glass side panel - you'll be too embarrassed to use it.

Other Thoughts: It's been a year since I last purchased from Newegg, but my purchases go back seven years. I overlooked the Newegg return policy that states "30 days from invoice date". I'm used to 30 days from receipt. Consequently, Newegg is much less desirable as a supplier, compared with competition.

4 out of 5 eggsNearly perfect! All in all, it's great!

Pros: Its a great looking case and has just the features I need:
2 SSD slots for Raid0, and a slim PSU. I put in a Zalman copper heat sink, which looks good through the glass panel.

Cable management is pretty good too. Most of them run behind a metal cable protector that covers the power cord. A couple of cut outs on the bottom allowed me to run Sata under the MOBO.

Cons: Could use a higher wattage PSU for Haswell 5th gen.
My power calculations put me at 184w, but so far this hasn't been a problem.

The case has only a 4pin CPU power cable.

Other Thoughts: I don't need a CD drive, and this case doesn't seem to have a way to mount another SSD in its place.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case

Pros: I bought this case because for a router build. Yes, I know, expensive case for a router, but I wanted something that met the following criteria:

1. Small. This is going to be on my desk and I wanted it to not take up much space
2. adaptable. I wanted to be able to add a pci card in case I was to buy a wireless adapter or more ethernet ports.
3. Well built. I wanted something that would last
4. Good looking. As it is going to be on my desk, I wanted it to look nice.

After putting in a mini itx build into this thing, and playing with it for a couple days, I can tell you it met criteria 1, and 2 - the half height pcie slot is exactly what I wanted. Not too large but at the same time, I can actually use the pcie slot on my mb. It has most definitely met 4 as well. This thing just looks sexy. I am using the provided glass side panel and it blends in well with my glass desk. (Maybe I just like glass too much?) As for 3, the construction feels outstanding. No gripes that I could find. In fact the only speed bump I had when putting this together was that the motherboard was a tad difficult to get in due to width from front to back. Another centimeter would probably remedy this, but really this is nitpicking.

Cons: The one gripe I have about this case is the non standard power supply. I was hesitant because I wanted to make sure I got a quiet power supply with the highest efficiency I could find and if it breaks I wanted to be able to replace it. Before buying this thing, I found that in win does sell power supply replacements.

Although I cant vouch for the longevity of the power supply yet, I can mention that it is quiet enough I cannot hear it unless I put my ear up to the case. However, it does put out a bit more heat than I would like, and from what I could gather is only rated 80 Plus.

However, I dont think these gripes would warrant breaking an egg over.

Other Thoughts: Heat dissipation seems plenty adequate. I may go for a better noctua cooler as the one that came with the i3 430t has nearly no heat sink to it. (its slimmed down compared to the i5 and i7 heat sinks). Cpu sits at around 43C which normal for this blasted texas heat.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This case is a great pick for a HTPC or a non-gaming secondary pc/server. The open air design allows even a stock cooler (i3-4th gen haswell) to cool the system while being virtually silent (no noisy 80mm case fans as with other cases) While the price is on the high side, you do get a tempered glass side panel and a 180w power supply. Cable management is already done for you, could not be any easier. Highly recommended.

Cons: Low profile cards with large heatsinks will not fit.
NO USB2.0 adapters for the front panel.
NO integrated IR port.
