Clean modern lines combined with ultra-modern performance, Lian-li's PC-A05-B is the ideal tower. Housing two 5.25" and one 3.5" External drive bays, it saves space by leaving out redundant drive bays made obsolete by today's multipurpose ROM drives.

It hasn't forgotten the internal hard drives that are so necessary today, leaving space for three 3.5" internal drives. It also gives easy access to two USB 2.0 ports ,an IEEE 1394 (Firewire) port and two audio ports up front. This case makes cooling a literal breeze. It has two 120mm ball bearing fans: one located in front of the hard drives for intake, and another in the rear of the case for exhaust.

This causes a constant cooling cross breeze over all your sensitive equipment protecting them from the ravages of heat. The A05-B supports ATX Motherboards 12" x 9.6" or smaller, with 7 PCI expansion slots in the rear.

  • newegg Expandability with 6 Drive Bays The LIAN LI PC-A05B boasts two external 5.25" drive bays, one external and three internal 3.5" drive bays for hard drive expandability.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: * Sturdy construction with 120V quiet fans in the front and back.
* PSU is at the front bottom of the case, which I like because it puts that weight at the bottom of the case which is more stable than at the top.
* It uses rubber wheels to attach the hard drives to the case. It makes it very easy to pop them in and out and it surprisingly holds them in place securely.
* The front of the case pops out easily. The doors on the sides slide back easily. No tools required to remove these doors, just my hands.

Cons: * Needs a fan on the top back of the case. Heat goes up and there's no fan up there to efficiently remove that heat. It's not bad, but it would give the case 5 stars.
* The black finish is nice and shows fingerprints. I don't mind it too much since I don't touch the case, but some people may not like that.

Other Thoughts: It's my first case and I'm pretty happy with it. A friend of mine who has been building his own systems for more than 10 years had this same case in his wish list. He really liked it when he saw it at my house.
The system I built in this case is:
* Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H Micro ATX
* CPU: AMD 6000+
* Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
* RAM: Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB DDR2 800
* PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W
* Optical Drive: Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model DVR-116DBK - OEM
* HD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB

5 out of 5 eggsgreat case

Pros: very light case. good quality aluminum. understated looks although could be on the bland side depending on your style. has minitower height but fits a 260gtx just fine with no adjustments to any other components. might even be able to fit two 260s without any problems.

Cons: motherboard tray is not removable. hard drive cage is not removable. air circulation could be problematic although I have not noticed any problems. lens for hard drive activity led fell off and had to be stuck back on.

Other Thoughts: seems like this thing is made to be modded. a case window and fan would make this case look great. as others have said, it does leave fingerprints.

5 out of 5 eggsNice case

Pros: Sleek looking. Everything fits well. Rubber grommets for HD mounting. I can pick it up. Running an ASUS M4A79T with Q-fan enabled, very quiet. Without Q-fan it's loud. X3 720 running BOINC 100% runs at 43C. Not OC yet. I would buy this case again.

Cons: Blinding power on LED, cured with tape.

Other Thoughts: Watch for power supply length. PCP&C 610 barely clears my MB. Had to mount it so the PS cable bundle was high above the MB or I can't get the MB out without sliding the PS forward. Cooling: Not an issue now, but after OC and a hotter video card we'll see. Removing the front drops the CPU temp 4C, so there is obviously restricted exhaust flow.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat design, but can run really hot

Pros: Compact and efficient design, able to fit in everything I need in a computer, including two very large video cards, without having a bunch of leftover, unneeded space. USB connections on top a HUGE bonus, since I keep my comp under my desk.

Cons: The case has a bit of a design flaw that doesn't allow the two 120mm case fans to move as much air as they need do. The front case cover restricts the airflow, casing the case to get REALLY hot when playing resource-heavy games. I ended up installing a grill in the front cover and that fixed the problem.

Other Thoughts: This would be a 5/5 case if Lian Li would put more venting in the front cover.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case!

Pros: Very high quality construction, CPU and video card stay nice and cool, comes with everything I needed for assembly, very size efficient (a huge benefit to those with limited space in their house), very light due to aluminum construction, looks great in black, got it on sale for $70 but wouldn't hesitate to pay the regular price.

Cons: Like others have mentioned, there isn't a ton of extra space to tuck away extra cables, but the small size is worth the trade-off. I haven't needed to do any special cable routing since my case runs cool and I'm not OCD about the internal appearance of my PC.

I only have a one internal 3.5" drive installed, but I would be a little concerned about blocking the exhaust fan airflow if I had all three internal 3.5" bays filled. However, this cannot be considered a legitimate con since I have no proof that this would cause any problems.

Other Thoughts: This was my first build, and it went very smoothly with this case. I had my brother helped me and he was very impressed with the quality and small size of this case. He liked it better than the CoolerMaster 690 that he has.

I am running a Sapphire HD 4870 TOXIC video card (factory overclocked with better cooling hardware), and have had NO heat issues above the video card like a couple other people have. I think the TOXIC edition really helps keep the card cool in this small case; I'm not sure I'd trust the regular HD 4870 in such a small space since its known to run very hot.

Case has always stayed cool to the touch even after long Crysis sessions.

System: Intel E8500 with Arctic Cooling Pro 7, Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R mobo, WD Caviar Black 640GB hard drive, 2x2GB G.Skill RAM, Sapphire Radeon HD4870 Toxic video card, ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card, Corsair 550VX PSU

5 out of 5 eggsbeautiful Ubuntu GNU/Linux case

Pros: Down right beautiful. So good that I bought another one. fans can connect to motherboard or with suppleid moxex adapter use molex from ps.

Cons: As far as i am concerned there are none, there is no flashy junk on here and it is compact.

Other Thoughts: case is aluminum and works as a giant heatsink dissapating heat which is a definate pro.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect full size small case!

Pros: I love this case. Takes a full size computer in a small size case.
Wide enough for even the bigest of fans.
Super Quiet

Cons: Little tricky to work inside of, but other than that I can't fault the case.

Other Thoughts: Want a small low profile case for a full size pc? Then this is the case for you!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fantastic build quality. I am so very impressed. This was my first Lian Li case and I would buy this company's products again in a heartbeat. The rubber washer things do a good job of removing hard drive vibrations.

Cons: -It only has 3 hard drive bays so be sure it will fit your needs.
